HT201343 What's the technical reason for Apple not supporting AirPlay Mirroring in OS X Mountain Lion for earlier iMac's?

Apple support was of little help...

  • What is the technical reason for lack of Audible support on Zen Micro and othe

This is addressed to the any Creative developer who reads this. I am a developer and find it hard to understand why a relati'vely brain-dead product like a 28 Meg Muvo Nomad can support Audible but the more powerful Zen Micro's cannot.
Can someone give us the technical reason for this?

I dont think there is a technical reason behind it. A simple firmware update should be able to support Audible, OGG, and the rest of formats that the player does not support.

  • What is the Technical Reason for Creating Message Type

    Hi,
Is there any particular reason to use Message Type. Already we are defining Data Type. Please give me some detailed explanations.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Giridhar.C

    Hi Giri,
SAP telling below reason why we are creating message type
"A message type comprises a data type that describes the structure of a message. For technical reasons, a data type alone is not sufficient to describe the instance of a message: Data types are defined in XML Schema as abstract types that are not yet tied to an element. You can only describe an instance of a message when you have specified a data type as an element type. Therefore, a message type defines the root element of a message"

  • Mac Pro first generation can't load Mavericks. What is the technical reason?

Someone I know has an original Mac Pro, from 2006. I know it says that Mavericks requires at least a 2008 Mac Pro. What is the technical reasons for not including older hardware? I understand the points about the G5 and before cannot go higher than Leopard, because they stopped supporting non-Intel Macs. However, the Mac Pro, is an Intel Mac, and of course I know that Apple wants you on newer hardware, but that original Mac Pro is still a capable machine. I would like to know if there is something about what is in Mavericks (and future OSes) that precludes them from installing on older Intel Macs.

That computer has a 32-bit EFI. Mavericks requires a 64-bit one.

  • Hi there, why my hp dv6700 laptop having a pink monitor. What's the main reason for that? thank you

Hi there, why my hp dv6700 laptop having a pink monitor. What's the main reason for that? thank you

If all is pink (but you see the desktop), then normally one colour cable is broken - I think blue is off.
In your case (laptop) the connection to the display seems to be damaged, so the blue information is lost.
Normally you can test it when you twist the connection between pc and monitor. But I don't know if this works with a laptop.

From what I found LiveScript is the precursor of JavaScript, if this means anything in your context. Do you have JavaScript enabled? You might see this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/6447836#6447836.

What is the difference between Never and Not supported?
Also I want to know what are all the transaction attibutes are supported by MDB and why?

Never- If the bean is called in an existing trasaction an exception is thrown.
NotSupported - Methods always execute outside the transaction context. If a transaction is started when this method is called, this method is executed outside the transaction. The initial transaction is continued after the method exits.

  • What's the common reason for socket write errors?

I just encountered some problem in my recent programming work.
The error message is something like "java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: socket write error", strangely enough, sometimes it can work without the error, but sometimes, the error occurs with the same test case.
I just want to know what's the mainly reason of this error?
    Thanks a lot.

After checking the codes, I realized that it is because when I return a String object from an function and send it to the other end through socket, sometimes the other end receive a "null" object, and because I have to use the instance method of the object, so the error occured.
But I am confused why I send a string to socket, but sometimes I got a "null" object at the other end, I am sure the string I send is actually not "null" the the send side?

  • What is the max ram for a iMac DV 400mhz? (family M5521)

I've read several posts on this forum about the max memory for this iMac. Several people say it's 512 then usually someone comes back and says "Actually it's 1024". As per the Apple specs page (posted below) the Min is 64MB and the Max is 512MB. Is that overall system, or per slot? I'm guessing it's per slot, since it has two slots and the Ram Sizes states it can handle a 512 chip (2 slots @ 512 ea. = 1024) am I wrong in this?
    Thanks,
    -Matt
    RAM Slots: 2, PC100 DIMM
    Min - Max RAM: 64 MB - 512 MB
    Min RAM Speed:
    RAM Sizes: 64, 128, 256, 512 MB
    iMac DV 400Mhz 512Mb   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

First ensure that you have the correct firmware installed. See Announcement: iMac (Slot Loading): Install iMac Firmware 4.1.9 Before Mac OS X 10.2 or later.
You will need OS 9 installed on the hard drive to install that firmware update. If OS 9 is currently on the hard drive you can install the firmware update (if needed) before swapping the hard drive.
Yes you can install OS 10.3 directly without installing OS 9. If there is any possibility that you will want to boot from OS 9 in the future, ensure that you pick the option to install the OS 9 disk drivers.

  • What are the possible reasons for a procedure to go into uncompiled state?

    hi,
we are working on a warehousing project where in we have a set of procedures that run every day to fetch the data from the source and populate it into the target. For the past few days some of these procedures are going into un-compiled state even though nobody has touched these procedures for a long time.
The behavior of these procedures is not consistent in the sence that when these procedures are run through the scheduler, these procedures are getting failed, where as when we run them manually they are working fine and subsequently when we try running them through the scheduler again they seem to be working.
following is the error message that is displayed when this procedures are failed:
ORA-04062: timestamp of package has been changed.
    Kindly help me.
    Thanks,
    Raaji.

    Thanks for the reply.
No, My procedure is not using any db links. And i have checked for remote_dependencies_mode, by using the below query and I got the VALUE as TIMESTAMP.
    SELECT name, value
    FROM gv$parameter
    WHERE name = 'remote_dependencies_mode';
Do I need to change this value to SIGNATURE?
    Thanks,

  • What's the best specifications for 27" iMac in order to run Windows for best performance?

Hey there. I'm based in the UK and in the process of saving up for my first ever iMac (the new 27" model starting from £1699) after years of owning PC's and laptops, but now I'm finally fed up with Windows-based machines, they just don't cut it when it comes to performance and workload...etc.
I wanted to pick iMac users on the community to get clear advice on what the ideal specifications I should consider configuring my iMac when I finally get round to placing my order in March/April. I aim to run Windows 7/ or 8 via Parallels as I hear it's very good and from what video tutorials of it I've seen on YouTube it appears impressive to think the iMac can handle this at the same time as running Mountain Lion.
The ram I plan on upgrading myself manually, yes - I've sussed that one that very quickly due to Apple's extensive £400 fee to simply upgrade the iMac to 32GB, Crucial here I come!
...I digress a little. I'm torn between the Quad-core i5 and i7 as I don't want to get something that won't deliver best performance when it comes to running Windows in parallel (or coherence mode as I hear it's called). Below are some specs I've configured on 2 saved iMacs in my saved baskets.
    CONFIGURATION #1
3.2GHz Quad-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
    8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
    1TB Fusion Drive
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5
    Order total: £2,019
    CONFIGURATION #2
3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
    8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
    3TB Fusion Drive
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5
    Order total: £2,299
I'd appreciate anybody's time and patience on this little matter. Thank you.

You don't need to go overboard on your hardware to run windows effectively.  I bootcamp win7 on a late 2008 MacBook Pro with no issues. However, for an intense windows game I boot straight into windows.  If you do not plan on gaming other than an occasional instance by your brother than this should be an acceptable solution.
One caveat is ram which you have already stated your are upgrading.
A general rule of thumb I live by is get the best you can afford now and it will prolong the need to upgrade in the future.  That being said...  The choices you have provided are all good choices.  Preference on screen size will dictate your overall decision, of course.   The need for i5 vs i7 CPU is normally not a factor for the majority of users.  If you need to save some money then by all means choose the lesser configuration as it will handle windows fine.
One place you should consider the upgrade is the video card.  Since you cannot upgrade this after purchase it is advisable to do this now.  Also, the differences between the 675mx and the 680mx are far greater than what the naming implies.
Also, as mentioned in a previous post, the 3TB fusion drive can't bootcamp windows.  There is a hack for the non-fusion version, but I have not heard of anyone getting that hack to work on the fusion drive.   There are other creative options you can implement to make this work, however, it will require an additional investment in some 3rd party hardware.  For a novice Mac user I would recommend the smaller fusion drive and external thunderbolt/USB storage as dictated by your needs in the future.

  • What is the best security for my imac

i want to put some security on my imac late 2013 i been looking at 3 diff software norton internet security 5 for mac - intego premium bundle 2013 - Kaspersky Security for Mac i do alot buying on line and banking i work off wi-fi indoors which is password protected aol which is now talk talk can you tell me if any of them 3 are good and what one to pick or is there another one out there better then them can anyone help please.

I see that others have already recommended my Mac Malware Guide, so I won't repeat that, or duplicate their advice.
Regarding Norton and Kaspersky, you should absolutely avoid them. Norton isn't any good at detecting Mac malware, plus it's well-known for causing problems. Kaspersky is better at detections, but has also caused a number of problems from time to time.
I want to like Intego's stuff, because I like the company, but I'm afraid their more full-featured stuff has been implicated in a number of performance problems and crashes in these forums over the years. For manual scans, though, you simply cannot do better than Intego's VirusBarrier Express, available for free in the App Store. And because it's from the App Store, it really can't cause any problems.
Note that you need to be more concerned with other aspects of security, such as making sure your online accounts use strong passwords, and that you don't use the same password for more than one account. Be sure not to do any sensitive transactions on any third-party wifi network, especially one that doesn't require a password... only from home, on a network you control, or on some other network managed entirely by people you know and trust. Answers to any security questions on sensitive sites should be nonsensical, so that they cannot be guessed... for example, Q: "What city were you born in?" A: "flying purple people eaters". Keep an encrypted log of all these question-answer pairs. If two-factor authentication is offered, it's usually a good idea to use it.
