HT201359 I'm having more iPhone updating problems

Each time my updating/downloading is about done a pop-up says "There was a problem downloading the software for th iPhone. The network connection timed out." And it says " Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later."
My connection is good and I've tried about five times, so what do I do?

It sounds like you restored it with your backup because the shorcuts were back on there.  Restore again, as new without your backup.  They sync your media back on.

  • Recent iPhone update problem

    Following the iPhone update on April 8, 2011, I found that;
    1) all my email was gone
    2) my iPhone internet settings are gone
    3) I can't access ANYTHING (maps, text, phone, etc.)
    4) all my apps which I downloaded were gone
I weas able to find the apps through trial and error finally
But I hvae an iPhone that I can't use for anything, not even a phone call. People I've spoken with have said that all their updates did not affect anything for them!!!

Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on another computer and restore your iphone.
Either way you have to restore your iphone.

  • Iphone updating problems

I am unable to update my iPhone OS. When I go to update it, I get a message "Unable to Verify Update b/c you are not longer connected to the internet".
But I am connected to the internet, both from my home wifi network, or my phones network.  Hmmm. Same problem with my work iPad, which I use at home.
Any suggestions? I could not update from iTunes, when the phone was connected to my MacBook. Ideas? Thanks!

    possible causes:
    1. Your antivirus is blocking access to gs.apple.com.
    2. Your phone is jailbroken.
    3. Your computer has been used at some time in the past to jaibreak some iOS device (not necessarily the phone with the problem), and its network database was corrupted by the hacking software that was used.
    4. Apple's activation servers are down (very rare, and never for more than an hour or so).
For 1. try disabling your antivirus.
For 2. & 3. you need to go somewhere other than an apple forum for help. Although you can try deleting lines containing gs.apple.com from your "hosts" file on your computer.

  • TS3694 New iPhone update; problem!!!

I am in the process of updating my iPhone 5S and all it shows now is a picture telling me to plug it into iTunes. I have plugged my cord into my USB and my iPhone has done nothing. My iTunes is up to date. Is anyone else having this problem?

Put the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore.
Make sure your iTunes is version 11.1.5.5 or higher.

  • Music iphone update problem. Read pls :'(

Hi, I have upgraded my iphone 3g with the software iO5. I have a problem with music library and this problem is that when I add a new song and edit the title, author and cover. iPhone on the iTunes music library is updated throughout iphone while you see only the title and no date without a cover artist (says unknown). how can I fix this?
    Sorry for my English.

Sorry, I'm not trying to be pushy, I'm just giving this a quick bump in the hopes that it's seen a bit more...plus, I wanted to add a quick update.
I used IE 9 (I think it is, the latest IE) to download iTunes, instead of clicking save I clicked 'run' and when it finished downloading it told me it was an unsafe file and wouldn't run it. I wouldn't even give me the option to ignore IE's opinion and run it anyway. So I'm now off to my friends to see if I can get it to download using her internet and see if that makes any difference.
Also, if I were to update to the latest firmware using my current iTunes (which is 4.2.2 I think) would that possibly make a difference or would it more than likely just create more problems? What about restoring my phone through my current iTunes, would that possibly work?
    Thanks again.

  • App Store on iPhone - Updates Problem

    Hello Geeks,
I do not believe anyone is experiencing my problem but just in case one of you experts out there will know a quick fix for this.
My App Store icon is showing a number "3". That is how many apps on my phone that have an update available. I proceeded into the store and updated the apps on my phone. Done!
Problem, that was a few days ago. Ever since that update the number "3" on the icon has not reset and it's still showing although the apps have already been updated. Furthermore, iTunes today is showing me that there are apps available for updates but my App Store on the phone is not receiving a new list of updates.
So essentially the app store program on the phone seems to have the updates feature stuck. The update number counter for the icon is not resetting. The updates feature in the app store checks for updates but finds none although there is. Everything else is working, i.e. searching and installing apps.
    Thanks!

Exactly as the poster above me.
Here is some more info for you guys. If you need more, let me know!
My 1st iPhone had this problem, did a full restore on it still had the problem, then had a hardware issue and exchanged it. The 2nd iPhone, got it, put old sim card in, updated the firmware via iTunes, then synced all of my music/apps (with all of them updated). And on the iPhone under App Store, it still shows 2 updates, even though iTunes says they are all up to date.
In iTunes on my Macbook Pro, if I click on the applications, and select check for updates, it checks, then says no updates available.
Here are some screenshots of my iPhone to help clarify..

After you click App Store and click Updates, this is the screen you get after it loads.. no matter how long you leave it sitting on that screen. (and yes its been tried on different wifi's/no wifi.)

  • IOS 8.1 iPhone update problem

I've just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 8.1 and have lost over 15 GB of storage to "Other".  I've done resets, powered down, etc etc but can't seem to clear the "Other" from the storage thus severely limiting the music, books, etc. that the phone should be able to hold.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?
    Thanks..
    Mark

Im facing problem with my iphone 5, after updating to IOS 8.1, the camera is not working. Any help appreciate. Thanks
    Read my response above
if that does not fix it then you may have a hardware fault and then it is a trip to an Apple Store

  • IPhone update problems!

As alot of people, I have encountered the problem of NOT being able to sync my phone with my G5 ever since the latest iPhone & iTunes updates. The phone lights up and indicates it is plugged in, but it will only appear in iPhoto, and not iTunes. The same issue with plugging it into the wall adapter... The phone lights up and indicates it is plugged in, but nothing.
The geniuses at tech support have decided to offer this solution: Update your USB Hardware to USB 2.0. Are you f*ing kidding me!!!!

Try a forced restore. Reboot your computer, start iTunes, connect the iPhone to the computer. Wait. If you get an error, or nothing happens for several minutes hold the sleep/wake and home buttons for a long time (~20 seconds) until you get a message on the screen that it is restoring.
If all of these fail take it to your Apple store.
    this should solve your problem

  • Automatic check for Iphone update problem

    Hello all,
My CMOS battery recently died, and I managed to boot the system with an invalid date in 2010. Itunes checked for updates and pushed the next automatic update date into 10/17/2010. I've since manually checked for updates, and updated the iphone, but would like to have the autocheck date set back.
A search using regedit didn't yield anything promising. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I updated my iTunes today to 7.6 and now it is not recognizing my phone and totally messed it up. I had to use my computer with the old version of iTunes to get it back working. If you are using the new version of iTunes I think that might be your problem. The new version will not recognize my phone.

  • More Security Update Problems - Finder Menu on/off constantly

I like many others here had a perfectly normal imac G5 and then performed the security update tonight, sadly since then the Finder is flashing on/off and I can't access Finder Menus, I can however open Safari and access internet.
Can boot in Safe Mode without a recurrence of problem
Running Startup Disk and running disc repair/permissions.
    Re-started and no change.
Have tried some of the suggestions, downloading update manually onto USB but can't get the Terminal to identify the USB volume. I haven't however tried t
I would be very grateful for any ideas

Thank you for your response Greg, in the blind panic that set in last night I did manage to check the Console Log to see what if anything was happening with 'Finder'. I have Emblematic installed in the Admin Account and this was repeatedly coming up in the log as Finder was starting and quitting.
    I have read loads of issues with the Security Update but thought I would do the following first;
    1. Checked the 2 other accounts on the iMac, logged in to both - no issues with Finder quitting.
    2. Did a SafeBoot and no issues with Finder until I clicked on the Emblematic icon on the System Preferences menu. The Finder menu started to start/quit as it had been doing in normal start up.
    3. Uninstalled Emblematic while in SafeBoot and re-started.
    4. Logged in to Admin account and no problems with Finder
    5. Problem appears to have resolved so I can only assume it was conflict between Finder and a third party application.
    6. Can't even recall why I had Emblematic installed anyway - have never used it!
Thanks again and a lesson learned with Auto updates.

  • Iphone update problem

Both on my Windows computer (Vista Premium) (itunes 7.6 updated today) and my Mac (OS 10.4.11) (itunes also updated today), I have gotten the identical message on both machines while attempting to update from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4):
"iTunes could not sync to the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected"
This happens after a period (a few minutes)of iTunes "Backing up...". It doesn't back up (at least the back up does not appear in the list).
The phone does not disconnect, but turns off without finishing the back up.

While I'm not an expert on this, I have read similar issues regarding the phone disconnected error. I know there are several threads on the forum regarding this, and if you search, you should find one of them. It seems it may have something to do with corrupt data either on the phone or the computer you are trying to sync with. As I look over things this morning, I will try and find one of them. I know there have been a number of solutions posted, most noteably by an Apple tech with the screen name of Nathan C.
    Hope this helps you.
Here, try this thread and see if it helps.

  • IPhone Update - Problem with Volume

After I updated to iOS 5, none of my applications that use sound (Pandora, Youtube, etc.) have volume or even show a volume adjustment bar.  How do I fix this?

I tried "everything" w no luck. did a reset restart and restore. I did not use back up data. I imported my iTunes library from my mac manually. I also used iTunes to restore my apps. still no volume bar. it appears when I use headphones. but that's it. my external speaker works as I tried it while listening to v/m. ringer works too. I also tried blowing into connector and headphone jack to clear dust. still nothing.

  • HT4623 Iphone update problem, any help?

I  hooked up phone to itunes to update to os 6,  it did some stuff, but now phone goes black and itunes  keeps saying I need to restore  to factory settings which I did, as my stuff should be safe on icloud.. but phone keeps saying i need to connect to itunes as if there was some disconnect

If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

  • Is anyone else having more then one problem with this phone? (BBSTYLE)

I've always wanted a blackberry phone, and  about 4 months ago I finally did.
Purchased a brand new blackberry style, I was very excited about this purchase.
Anyways, the first 2 weeks were great, then all these problems started to happen..
Since then every month a new problem occurs.
    -the phone freezes. (a lot)
-the internet (while refreshing or what I like to call it "thinking") completely closes, and erases everything.
-While using the phone for a call the back of the phone( where the battery is) heats up, to the point where it is too    hot to handle.
    - the track pad, gets way to sensitive then gets all crazy on me when IM scrolling up or down on a website, or in a text message.
    - the wifi does not even want to try and connect.
    - then, just recently, i'm not receiving some texts, and missing very important calls.
I'm seriously unhappy, because the knowledge  I have about blackberry products (and what it says on the outside of the box) is that this phone is for the busy business person, and I have to wait ten minutes for the phone to start acting right to put in a contact in the address book.

I just bought this phone seven months ago (swapped out a different BB model for "Style", and I'm still unhappy), and it freezes up ALL THE TIME now.  It'll freeze up for days on end. I can't live like this anymore.  The tech support group said that they'll have to "restore it to factory settings", meaning I'll lose ALL the data I have stored, including all the notes, info, on my Notes Pad under Application. If the phone ever allows me to get to that icon again, I'll have to transfer all of that data to my desktop before I allow them to restore it to factory settings.
But the real issue is is that THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING in the first place.  They make absolutely no apologies for it. I'm reading here that SEVERAL models have the problem of freezing up.  This is the last time.  When my contract is up, I am DEFINITELY switching to a Galaxy IIS.  This is no way to deal with a supposed "smartphone".  Research in Motion should be issuing new phones to EVERYONE for the trouble they're causing.  The blue cursor/whatever will NOT travel down to the buttons, so, I can't access ANYTHING  on my phone. I can't get to contacts, I can't get to my emails, nothing.  I have to repeatedly hit the BlackBerry icon, and get to certain areas completely backward, but it's still not functioning 1% of what it should be.  I can't scroll around anywhere...not up and down my inbox, on the home page, nothing.  What the hell is wrong with them?  Don't they do any product testing???  I'm  in marketing, and this company, and their products, SUCKl.
If anyone has any advice other than remove the battery and pop it back in after X amount of time, let me know.  I've had the battery out for one minute as well as overnight....the phone has stopped now for 55 hours, and I'm sick of it.
