When you tried to contact Support with the card's images how were you trying to do it, on your phone or a browser on your computer ? And have you tried a different browser to see if you get the same error message ?
As well as images of the card they might also want an image of its receipt.

As long as you are buying content for yourself (you can't use your balance to gift content) then your account's balance should be used up first before any remainder is charged to your card.

One for myself which was billed to existing iTunes account Credit, and the second one (same app) was gifted to my girlfriend, but that was billed to my card, even though there was plenty of funds left on iTunes store credit.
Why?You cannot use your balance for gifting content, that can only be used for buying items for yourself - your credit card will be charged for any gifting that you do

- first, make sure your daughter does not know your password, and change it if you suspect she does;

You will only be charged when you purchase an App. Update on purchased App(s) through your Phone or PC iTunes should not involve any charges.
However, whenever you do your update over your phone, you are always being asked to login to verify your id but there will not be charge involved. -

My boys got app store gift cards and entered them in the reedem section then when they purchesed new apps itunes charged my credit card. Whats is up with this????

If the charge is approximately $1 it's an authorization hold. Apple does this to verify your iTunes account.
