I keep receiving an email that says its from itunes support that says "warning! we need a little verification from you or your account will be closed" - is this a legitimite email?

You will need to do what it says, contact iTunes support. Click the Support tab above, then the Get Started link in the Contact Apple Support area and you'll be guided. We are all just fellow users here and so have no idea about the cause of the issue nor any ability to resolve it for you.

I am paranoid about malware. I go to the Mozilla site, click download and up pops a box that says its from tux.rainside.sk Am I being hijacked?

bottom line I am not sure if I am getting a real version of Firefox or has someone redirected me to a rogue site that will install malware? Why wouldn't the dialog box say run or save a file from mozilla.com?

You are only as young as you feel......
This is an example of how you can select the exact content that you want to sync to your device. You do not have to sync the entire iTunes library. You can pick and choose the music, apps, books and so on that you want to sync. This is using music as an example.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Music Tab on the right.
Click on only the albums or playlists that you want to sync.
Click on the Sync Music Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
You can do this with apps, books, movies .... Whatever .... You have the freedom to sync whatever you want.

I ended up smashing my phone and could update all other stuff on restore but cant sync any music. It is all grey at the top of the screen. Ive re installed itunes and cleared all phone data. I'm having a similar problem. I had previously (over a year ago) purchased 2 episodes of Law & Order. Then about 2 months ago, I purchased the 3rd season of Sons of Anarchy. When I downloaded these episodes to my iPad, about a dozen full seasons of various shows popped up, too. You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.
