HT201363 My iTunes and App Store won't accept the new password that I reset, why?

Couldn't get into my iTunes and reset the password. Now I can get into it from my other devices, not my iMac. I've reset the password twice with no resolution. Can anyone tell me why this is occurring, and what I can do to resolve it?
Thanks
Scot

  • HT5787 I have reset my password  but I cloud and App Store won't accept new password

I have reset my password and my I cloud and App Store won't accept the new password

Normally it's the Apple ID that's tied to your content not your password (You can change your password every day if you want to). Try again and choose the option I forgot my password and your will get an e-mail how to go about it.

  • I have enabled iTunes and App Store fingerprint authentication on the iPhone 5s.  However I still receive a prompt for my Apple ID password vs my Fingerprint.  Any way to resolve this?

Ok thanks - that explains it:
    From the Apple article: "
Note: Touch ID cannot be used for purchases if Require Password in Settings > General > Restrictions is set to Immediately."
Not sure why - but clearly intentional.

  • I did re-set my password and when I click on Install for Mavericks, I still get a box for "administrator password" and it still won't accept my new password. Is there a difference between my Apple ID and the administrator password they're asking for?

I downloaded Mavericks and it won't install. I did re-set my password and when I click on Install for Mavericks, I still get a box for "administrator password" and it still won't accept my new password. Is there a difference between my Apple ID and the administrator password they're asking for? I never had an administrator password-- I just hit enter and have never had a problem before with previous installations. I'm on an iMac, from 2007, running Mt. Lion (version 10.8.5). I've been looking for other's posts who may be having the same problem, but haven't found any. Can anyone help?

Ugh. The 'no password, no work' thing is a recent Apple development. I ran into it on my system and ended up having to do a clean install on a partition I fully erased.
I suppose, if you have the ability to, go online and look up how to burn a bootable DVD image. Download the 10.8.4 image then use the Disk Utility to make a boot image of it. You'll need a dual-layer DVD or a USB drive (or memory stick at least 8GB) If you've got an optical drive, burn the disk, if you've a USB device, use that.
Then get a pocket drive and copy your important files off the system or let Time Machine do a full backup.
When the backup is done, insert the disk and hold down the C key until the machine boots off of the DVD. At the point you get to the start window, go to the menu and choose the Disk Utility.
In the Disk Utility, reformat the drive. You go to the actual DRIVE (not the Macintosh HD, but the root above it that is the actual hard drive device)
I always do this and *partition* it into several volumes, the benefit being, you can store all of your music, documents and importans stuff on that secondary storage volume you make - it will have it's own index and then the first volume is where you put the OS and it will have it's own index as well. That way, if the OS throws a wobbler and you need to reinstall, you don't lose your data.
Depending on the size of your hard drive, it is good to give your OS partition at least 60GB and optimally 100GB, and the rest for storage.
Name your volumes, use the little box sliders to manually size them or put that number in the size window, select for the format, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and hit Apply and then the Disk Utility will quickly create your new partitions.
Once finished, quit the Utility and it will return you to the OS installer. Select the volume you want to install to and it should start up and install.
Once the installation is done, you'll get the new machine startup then you MUST put in a password for the computer. Once you're in, and to the desktop, don't bother with any Mountain Lion updates, go right to the App Store and get the Mavericks update and let it install the app to your Applicaitons folder, then do that install.
On a side note, there MAY be a way to make a disk image from the Mavericks application and avoid the entire Mountain Lion step.. I honestly do not know, but a bit of hitting the search engines may find out if there is. I think that if you looked for "make Mavericks boot disk or boot image' you may find something.
    Good luck!

  • ITunes and App store won't load

We have a user in our school district whose iTunes and App Store went down with a recent apple.com outage. However, her iMac never recovered when everything came back up. She has no trouble connecting on her iPad, but on her iMac she gets a "Cannot Connect to the App Store" when launching her App Store and just a blank page when launching her iTunes store. Occasionally we can get an "Error -1202" to generate on her iTunes store but it is not consistent. She is running 10.7.5 on a late 2011 iMac with all software up to date.  We have tried everything from Keychain resets to deauthorizing the computer from her account. Nothing has helped. Anyone have any suggestions?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • ITunes and App Store won't recognize password

Everytime I enter my password into iTunes or App Store on my iPhone it says it can't find my ID or password. I can log into Apples site with my Apple ID and password and it works just fine. I reset my password and it still doesn't work. It worked perfectly last night. I put my phone on charge, went to bed and this morning it wouldn't let me download anything. Anyone have any idea of why I can't download any song or apps on my phone?

Same question Wish someone had replied!
I changed my Apple ID to my new email and now cannot find any way to access icloud. Unfortunately I had allowed icloud to hijack my airbook files, so of course I am afraid I will lose them tomorrow when I exchange my iphone for a new one and cannot keep an icloud account i cannot access. What a poor sync system! Really atypical for apple!

  • ITunes and app store won't load on phone

The app store and iTunes won't load on my iPhone. The screen just flashes something I can't make out the stays white. When I try to log on to the app store via settings it won't log me in. I am getting updates for a bunch of apps but can't update them. Please someone help

Well it seems that my app store is working again. iTunes is letting me search but when I try and make a purchase it says "Cannot connect with iTunes" and shuts down. It seems there is a known problem?

  • ITunes and app store won't load on my ipad?

I am having trouble with iTunes and the app store not loading on my iPad. Any suggestions

iTunes and the iTS are under the 'Music' icon on the iPad.
The App Store is a default program and should be present. Have you updated to iOS 5.1.1?

  • My ITunes and App Store won't load on my iphone4s

Just got the phone 2 weeks ago and last week ITunes and the AppStore stopped working they just wouldn't load I've tried a reboot , restore, signing in and out with my wife's id nothing is working  does anyone have any suggestions for me?

You don't do that on your phone, you do that on your computer.  I think you need to sync your phone with the latest version of iTunes.

  • Cannot get into iTunes and app store on my mac after new hard drive instillation

i had a new hard drive put into my mac recently, and since then i have not been able to access the app store or iTunes on my mac, which will also not allow me to sync my phone to it anymore as it is now not authorized to do such. I have contacted apple support, reinstalled the OS, and have enabled 2 step verification to verify my mac as a device, yet still will not work, is there any other way to fix this?

Can't connect to the iTunes Store
OS X: "Cannot connect" or "Cannot connect to the App Store. An internet connection is required"

  • App store won't accept the code that apple sent me to redeem my free mountain lion?

it keeps saying that the code is incorrect but i copy it exactly how it is in my email.
    thanks

You received two codes.  One was in the first email, and included dashes.  That is the code used to open a PDF file in the second email.  That PDF file contains a long (12 digit, I think) code without dashes.  That is the code you must use in the App Store to get your Mountain Lion.

  • Intranet Apple ITunes and App Store

    Hi
In our network environment, we are trying to limit a group of computing devices to only communicate in a secure environment. If we could limit these units to always communicate with a server in a DMZ zone, and the server pass the information to the small group of computing devices.
Is it possible to configure a Mac or windows platform server to work as a relay that can provide connectivity to iTunes and the App Store?
The goal is to have, in a secure environment, access to iTunes and App Store content without having the computing devices ever reach the internet.
    Thanks

The "13" is, I believe, embedded in US Federal law. That does niot answer your question, however.
If you are using a Mac, you can set up accounts for the children and use parental controls to limit acces to things. If you want them to buy things, do it through your own account under control.
