HT201364 Can anyone tell me why osx mavericks won't install?
I have software version 10.6.8 and a 13 macbook. Not a pro just the regular white laptop. I'm not sure why but everytime I go to install osx mavericks it gives me OSD "osx mavericks cannot be installed on this computer." What can i use to check my capabilities?
Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on More Info, and check the model identifier against the following, which are the earliest Macs of each type that can run Mountain Lion and Mavericks:

MacPro3,1
Xserve3,1
Those OS versions require a 64-bit EFI. A computer incapable of running Mountain Lion which has a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) or better CPU and at least 2GB of RAM can run Lion 10.7, which is available by clicking here. Neither Mavericks nor Lion support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004.

Can Anyone Tell Me Why Time Machine Won't Create A BackUp Folder for a Programed Backup?
Does anyone know why my Time Machine is NOT creating a backup folder on and regular scheduled backup? Just recently I downloaded the Time Machine Editor and it said to turn off the regular Time Machine (ON/OFF) switch, and just run off the TM Editor. However, at 1am in the morning, it comes up with the error saying it can't create a Backup Folder. I'm sure this is a simple solution but I really don't know how to handle this... Would appreciate any and all help in this matter... Thanks, Gary
Were you already backing up with Time Machine - ie, did you have an existing backup folder on the drive before you started using Time Machine Editor? If not, you probably need to do at least one full backup with TM, and then start using TME to schedule backups.

I can't find preferences for the notes app. and every once in awhile some of my notes just disappear at start up, I see the name and then it refreshes and they are gone, very annoying. Can anyone tell me why it does this and how to stop it? thanks

Can anyone tell me why this picture changes color when I try to download/upload it? It is the exact same picture I have taken from the same location. The image on the left is via preview and the image on the right is what is shows like when I try to download it. I have emailed it to myself and it shows fine on the computer and in CS4, but when I look at the download via my phone or on another computer it shows the wonky color on the right. I have checked the color space shows RGB/8 bit. Any ideas why or how to fix it? It isn't with any one specific session.... and I've tried it on both my desktop and my laptop- saved image to an external hard drive and to drop box. I've tried sending the image to canvas on demand, my email, mpxipro, POST editing- all the same result. Please HELP!! What am I doing wrong?
Most of the time you see something like that. The image in question has a color profile other then sRGB. Some image viewers/displayers are color managed and others are not. So the image do not look the same in all of the applications you use. So colors seem to change.
Try converting it to sRGB color and see if then looks the same all around. Also I think PC and Mac displays are set to different gamma something like 1.8 and 2.2
Though I'm colorblind I even see color variations. -
Can anyone tell me why my collusion .27 add-on stopped working when I updated to firefox 20 (and now 21?). I've tried removing and reinstalling to no avail. I even deleted my profile files and had firefox repopulate those automatically to no avail. And it's not the only add-on to have stopped working.

You have a choice as to whether or not applications in Lion like Word or Preview (or even Safari) save and re-open previous documents or windows... just hold down the option key while quitting a program and when you re-open it you won't get the previous documents or windows when you re-open the application. You can see this by selecting the open program in the menu bar and when holding down the option key the quit function will change to quit and discard open windows. This feature in Lion is referred to as "Resume" and is great if you want to restart an app and return to what you're doing (for example in Safari re-opening existing windows and tabs from your previous session). You still have the option to close individual windows within an app before quitting and they will not re-open when the app is launched again.
This Resume function is not related to saving your work (a word or text document for example). This is handled by Lion's "Auto-Save" and "Versions" functions. See http://www.apple.com/ca/macosx/whats-new/auto-save.html

My MacBook Pro data is backed up in iCloud (I pay monthly for 20 GB) but apparently my photos are not backed up and it won't allow me to select Photos from the list for back up. Can anyone tell me why?
The current iCloud isn't meant for backing up Macs. It's only for mobile devices.
The beta iCloud Photo Library in iOS 8 will store photos in the iCloud for access from other mobile devices for from iCloud.com. The new Photos app under development for OS X on Macs will not be released until sometime this spring. It will have the capability of storing and accessing photos from iCloud.
iCloud Drive is for sharing documents between multiple devices signed in to the same iCloud ID. When the new Photos application is released the space purchased for iCloud will be available for the photo storage system. -

Hello. The Youtube videos I placed in a site made in Muse, don't have sound and don't auto play in my Android phone. Can anyone tell me why? The same video has no problems when I watch it at the youtube site on my phone. It has sound on an iphone, but doesn't auto play either. Thanks!

Padding on the bottom only fixes the problem BUT IS NOT the source of the problem, that is the default margins on the paragraph tag. I would forget trying to understand why you need padding and look more towards what causes the issue. If you know what the real source of an issue is then you can generally fix it quite easily. What solution you use to fix it is then something you can decide upon. -

After a little experimentation, it looks like it will stay open unless the System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General tab > Require an administrator password to access system preferences is check.
