HT201364 Can't download OS X Maverick due to space!

I am trying to download OS X Maverick and I have 5.25 GB available, but the message I am receiving is "You need 4.95 GB available space on your startup disk" and it will not allow me to download. Any help out there regarding making more space or somehow getting this to work??
Thanks

  • HT201250 can I download OS X Mavericks?

I want to know if i can upgrade/download OS X Mavericks?

If you click the black Apple icon on the top left of the screen and then select Software Update..
The computer will guide through the various updates and upgrade. there may be more than you have to do before Mavericks is presented as an available upgrade.
Since you are now running OS 10.8, you can upgrade to 10.9.1.

I don't want to upgrade to OS X Yosemite. Where can I download OS X Mavericks from?

Create partition read Disk Utility 12.x: Partition a disk
To clone your system, you need either SuperDuper or CCC. There are instructions for whichever on you decide on.

It's very sad that we Apple customers should have to justify why we want an Apple operating system. I don't expect Apple to continually support older versions (except for security updates - Microsoft supported security updates for XP for a decade, for crying out loud), but we should be able to do whatever the heck we want with our computers. We bought them.
I don't think it is sad at all to ask why someone thinks they want to do something.
So frequently they are wrong or think that their solution will solve their problem when in fact it will not or there a much simpler solution that we can offer once we know what their problem is instead of their proposed solution.
Besides I didn't see where anyone ask you to join this discussion anyway.

  • I can´t download OS X Mavericks or Photoshop

Hi, I got my Mac back from service. They changed the hard drive and now for some reason I can´t download back some programs. Iphoto and photoshop that I use daily. They don´t download properly and I have tried to update with the OS X maverick to see if the problem is the versions. But I can´t download it either. Anyone has a clue? It charges and looks like it´s bought but it doesn´t work.

    Download problems:  Not Mavericks
    - Sign out of the App Store (in the Store menu)
    - Quit the App Store
    - In Finder - Go>Go to folder...  (or Apple-shift-G)
    - Paste in the following "~/Library/Caches/ "
    - It will take you to a folder.  Delete com.apple.appstore
    - Launch the App Store.  Sign in and then reclick the Mavericks.
You can also try resetting the App Store and Clearing Cookies.

  • I can not download Windows Security Updates due to incompatibility with FireFox.

Firefox is not allowing critical security updates, or any updates, to Windows and Adobe. It also interferes with my Norton security updates!! (have premium home user software).
I don't like this new version of Firefox. I had agreed to be a beta-tester, but had to withdraw due to the problems in the FireFox software.

It may be because you appear to be running a BETA version of Firefox. Try using the Help | Updates route to update to the full release first. You can also download the full release from here: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0]
You can downgrade at any time by downloading v3.6.16 from here: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.16]
Then go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall the current version, but choose to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc. Finally, reboot and then run the installation file you downloaded.

  • Can't download and install Mavericks

I am trying to download and install Mavericks and am getting nowhere.
When I go to the App Store it is marked as "Free Upgrade".
So I click the button and, after logging in, it changes to Install.
I click that and it changes colour and is disabled for a few moments and then changes back to "Install".
If I exit the store and re-enter the button is back to "Free Upgrade".
My computer definitely meets the requirements so what am I missing?
Note that I am a total newbie to Mac so it could be a real simple error on my part.

    Hi Barney
The download Mavericks worked now, thank you, but - if I install Mavericks - my Excel, Word 11.6.6 and Entourage won't work anymore! So, I think I better don't install this program!
    Best, Lilo
Yes, if you can't upgrade your Office suite, or use one of the various substitutes, then you shouldn't upgrade.

  • HT201364 Can we install os x Mavericks on a quad-core intel Xeon ?

    Hello there,
Unfortunately I can not install os x Mavericks. I would wonder if it's due to my computer's age. My processor is 2 * 3 ghz quad-core intel Xeon, 8 GB of Memory!
    Thank you.
    Best wishes,
    Ed

Need to know the Model Identifier or when it was manufactured.
It needs to have been released in Early 2008 or newer. Model Identifier 3,1 or greater.
Yours appears to be the original Mac Pro. It doesn't have the necessary hardware (64-bit EFI) to run Mountain Lion or Mavericks.

  • I just reset my macbook pro , but I can't download MAC OSX Mavericks

I got a used macbook pro 2011 version, it had a admin password so I reset it and erased the hard drive, I tried to reinstall mac osx mavericks but its says I needed my app store account to download it, I signed in but now it says that I never downloaded Mavericks

You'll neeed to install the version of OS X that your Mac shipped with before you can use you own Apple ID to install Mavericks.
Boot using Internet Recovery - holding down the command, option and R keys whilst booting. You'll be booting from Apple's servers and it will take awhile to get to the Recovery screen (you'll see a globe when you're first connecting to the Apple servers - then you'll finally get to the Recovery screen).
Once at the Recovery screen, use Disk Utility to erase the hard drive. After the hard drive is prepped, use Install OS X to install the version that shipped with your machine (unless it shipped with Snow Leopard in chkech case you should have discs). After you boot to Lion (? hopefully) you can sign onto the Mac App Store and download and install Mavericks using your own Apple ID.
The only problem I forsee is if you have an Early 2011 model that shipped with Snow Leopard. If that's the case you're going to have to call Apple and, with your serial number handy, order a set of machine-specific discs.
Give Internet Recovery a try, though.

  • HT201364 Can't download Mavericks installer on recent Mac. "OS Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer", which is running 9.1.

I want to download the Mavericks installer so I have a backup installer that does not require the internet.  Although, the App Store button allows me to download, I get a message that Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer.
Computer is late 2013 retina MBP 13" with lots of memory.
My OS is 10.9.1 (13B3116) currently running.
Is the App Store version of Mavericks too old (jan 16) for my rMBP?
    Rick

Judging by the build number, it appears you have a special build of Mavericks installed and the App Store version (13B42) won't work with your computer.
Kappy - if I try to download Mavericks I get the message below, so apparently I can down load it again?
I also have a copy of the installer in my Applications folder, although it is in a folder.

  • HT201364 Where can I download OS X Mavericks?

    Hi there
My MacBook Air circa 2011, is currently operating on Snow Leopard v 10.6.8. I would like to, and need to upgrade my software (obvs) to Yosemite and was told by the Apple reseller here in my city that I first need to upgrade to OS Mavericks before I can upgrade to Yosemite. However, I am unable to download Mavericks, as I cannot find it in the app store or anywhere else on the web to download. Please help!

Mavericks is no longer available for download from the OS X App Store, and not available for purchase at the Online Apple Store.

  • HT201364 Can't download Mavericks. Need help please

I seem to have all the required specs to upgrade to Mavericks, but it says I can't. I have a 17 inch MacBook Pro, 2Gs Memory, 70 G space. Can someone please assist?

There was a More Info button. When I clicked it, I got the Overview where it would logically seem that I'd see the year there, but no luck. I see processor, memory, graphics, serial number (starts W87), and Software.
There are also links for Displays, Storage, Memory, Support and Service. None of them have the necessary info. There's a link at the bottom for System Report. I clicked there and there's a Hardware Overview. We've got Model Name, Model Identifier, etc. But no year or Model Number.
