11.58gb movies
31.46gb photos
23.38gb apps
zero kb backups
35.25gb Other
What is 'Other' anyway?
I've cleaned a ton of pix & music off. what now?
Got my MacBook Air in 2010. I'm running 10.9.5

Here are some general tips to keep your Mac's hard drive trim and slim as possible
You should never, EVER let a computer hard drive, or other main Mac storage medium, get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your Mac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto or Aperture, both have its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you are an iMovie/Final Cut user, both of these apps have their own individual Trash location that needs to be emptied, too!
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your other Mailboxes and other Mail categories to see If there is other mail you can archive and/or delete.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
To find other large files, download an app called Omni Disk Sweeper.

When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.

The show duplicates/show exact duplicates features have been left out of iTunes 11. Rumor suggests they will be restored in the next build. In the meantime I have written two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates, either from a selection of tracks or the entire library. Note that, as with the iTunes feature, this list makes no distinction between "originals" and "dupes", you have to decide which is which.
There is also my DeDuper script for automatically removing duplicate copies but keeping one remaining copy of each set. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send the others to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file. Same advice to backup applies.

No one is suggesting that you download third party "crap". What was suggested is that you download a well established and supported 3rd party application. As to why there isn't a "'delete your stupid duplicate photo' option", you'll need to ask Apple that. Apple aren't here. This forum is for Users to help other Users. As to why you import stupid photos, you'll need to ask yourself.

I have been working for some Upgrade project. My manager asked me the way to know unused variables which are already declared in the program . But i don't know any special way to find them.
Normally for Internal tables we are using CLEAR, REFRESH AND FREE.

in SE24,SE38 and SE80 there is a menu called "Refactoring" which can enable you to delete unused variable defined in your source code automatically.

In Photos - how do I identify and delete photos only on my iphone after upgrading to photos?

Upgraded to photos yesterday. Connected iphone to mac. IPhone in the sidebar shows 342 photos "already imported". I would like to delete those photos on my iphone (as they are already in photos) but cannot see how to do so on either my mac or phone.

I don't see an easy way to delete previously imported items, but these step worked for me. Be careful to make sure you do have copies of all these photos before you decide to delete them again!
1. Check the 'Delete items after import'.
2. REIMPORT all the 'Already imported' items.
3. Open the 'Last Import' album, and delete all those photos.
For your Secondary question, when the "Open Photos for this device" box is checked, that means when you plug in that iPhone, the Photos app will open up automatically.

How do you identify and delete constraints

Within my container, i have 3 unique constraints that are not associated to any tables. They remain there after 3 tables were deleted from the repository.
Anyway that asside, I would like to know how I can:
a) find these 3 constraints
and
b) delete them from the repository

Hi,
I think it should be possible to find these unique key constraints in the view CI_UNIQUE_KEY_CONSTRAINTS (in the scheme of the repository owner).
But, when you see the columns in CI_UNIQUE_KEY_CONSTRAINTS, you'll notice that the reference to a table is mandatory. That means that a unique key is always associated to a table (which sounds quite logical to me).
Hopefully you are able to track down these unique key constraints from the repository.

How to identify and delete objects after failure of registering XML schema

Hi,
I have tried to register a XML schema with many global elements but failed.
I have checked the view DBA_XML_SCHEMA and found that there is an entry for this failed XML schema and the disk spaces would not be freed after the failure of registration as well.
I have tried DBMS_XMLSCHEMA.deleteSchema() with DELETE_CASCADE_FORCE but failed with ORA-31000: Resource is not XDB document.
How can I identify and delete the objects for this failed XML schema and free up the disk space ?
I would not prefer to use 'DROP USER ... CASCADE' since there are other objects owned by this user.

you can get them from user_objects.
but you have to identify them manuallly if your schema has other objects other then created by the xml schema creation process.
Note these objects will be cases senistitive. so you should enclose them with double quotes during deletion.

Let me provide some more information that may help you diagnose this problem.
I run Elements on a PC. The operating system is Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium. The System Type is x64-based. The processor is AMD A8-3850 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 2900 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s). The Hard Drive is 1.81 TB, and 1.5 TB of this is free. The Ram is 16 GB. Everything else works great.
I have used Photoshop Elements for about 10 years, during which time I have upgraded to newer versions 5 or 6 times. I have used Elements 10 during the past 2 years. I already bought Elements 12 but I am trying to repair this issue before I upgrade to it. I have approximately 65,000 photos in my catalog. All but the last 2,000 are backed up.
During the past few days I encountered several problems with the functionality of my Elements 10; all errors provide messages indicating that the catalog is corrupt. Forexample, when I edit a photo in my catalog, the thumbnail image of the newly edited versionwill not display. When I imported new photos, the thumbnail image would not display. In all cases the photo image was replaced by a ?.
I tried to correct the thumbnail problem by repairing and optimizing the catalog. In either case I received the same message that the catalog had not been repaired/optimized because some images were corrupt. However, despite this message, the thumbnails for the newly imported photos appeared but the thumbnails for the recently edited photos still have not.
Currently, I cannot import new images, edit, delete or even stack photos. I can still view, search for, copy and delete photos. When I try to import a photo a new photo I get the following messages - ”the requested change could not be completed because the current catalog is corrupt. You can attempt a repair in the file catalog dialog." - "Nothing was imported. The file(s) or folder(s) selected to import did not contain any supported file types or the files are already in this Catalog." and "The catalog could not be repaired, if you have a recent catalog backup, you should restore it."
I have visually inspected the catalog and found about 25 recently imported photos that have a thumbnail image but lack the photo's id (i.e. img_3075.jpg would be replaced with ?). They are my photos from my camera and no different that the other 300 images I imported at the same time. However, these images in the catalog are blurry. When I check the image in the My Pictures folder the image is fine and properly located between img_3074.jpg and img_3076.jpg. I attempted to reconnect but received a message that there are no files to reconnect. I cannot delete the images from the catalog and If I delete them at the source (in the file folder) they still remain in the catalog view.

Thanks Eric, i have turned on the firewall recently, and after your advice just checked the terminal. As I had to re-install OS X Ia am the only user in history, But that is Useful to know for the future. At times, when I open security, share or accounts in System Preferences I find the padlock unlocked. Especially of late when I am very mindful of double checking they are locked before I close down that window.
I Suspect an ex friend who is a workmate accessed my computer or took my original start-up disks, then returned without knowing, is there any way of knowing if they have access on their computer from using those discs somehow? I Know it sounds all too 'conspiracy theory', lol, but it is something I've had brought to my attention.

Not necessarily. I'd suggest downloading and installing the "combo" update. That's a combination (thus the clever name) of all the updates to Leopard since it was first released, so installing it should fix anything that's gone wrong since then, such as with one of the normal "point" updates. will find them.
Then the keystroke to delete depends on which version of iPhoto you have. All the keyboard shortcuts are under the Help menu.

I restored the phone so had no apps on it at all and there was still this certain amount of space used up by documents ! I've already had it in to the apple store and they didn't seem to have a clue either ! Ugh ! Wouldn't mind so much if the phone was free with a contract but I actually spent 450 quid buying this phone and it's always full of "nothing" so virtually unusable
