HT201364 I can't download OS Lion 7 - to upgrade my OS... what should I do? I
I am trying to download OS Lion 7 on an older MacBook but I get a message that I have to remove items from my startup disk to increase available space. I am definitely not a technical person. I can get by with my MacBook but I have a lot to learn... Please help. Should I get more memory for my computer? If so, how much memory do I need? Here are the specs:

You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. It's possible something has become corrupted in your AppStore cache folder. I had the same problem that occurred after I did a partial download, paused it, and attempted to restart it again later. Here's how I fixed my problem:
Enable AppStore Debug menu:
1. Quit AppStore completely.
2. Run Terminal and enter the following on the command line: defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
3. Restart the AppStore. You should see a new menu called "Debug".
Clear the download cache:
4. In AppStore, select Debug menu / Show Download Folder
5. Quit AppStore completely, but leave download folder open
6. In the download folder, select all files/folders, then delete them.
7. Restart AppStore. You may need to sign in to your Apple account again.
You may need to restart your computer to be able to delete the files from the trash.
You can then try the download again. -

Thanks.Yes, the installer downloads to the Applications folder, if after downloading it asks to continue to do the installation just close that dialogue. Later, when you are ready to install click on the installer in the Applications folder and it will do its thing.

Login to the MAS, OPTION-click on the Purchases tab, and you should be able to resume the download or see that it's downloading.

I can't download mountain lion, I get the following message "could not complete your purchase, can't verify the file, it may be damaged or unsigned" ? what do i have to do ?
The only thing that worked for me was to boot in safe mode.
Power down. Then press power button and hold 'shift' key until grey screen with progress bar appears... Once booted and logged in just open safari and browse to applestore.
No trouble at all once I did this.
Reminder: create full backup before you upgrade OS

I have old email address's I used for iTune music purchases and cannot change password on several old accounts. Now some of the music I purchased I can not download and authorize it on my device. What can I do password security does not match my birthdate on two of the accounts. Apple can not send me email with a password authorization on several current accounts that I have with them. settings - app/iTunes store - sign out and sign back in with your new id.
Note - if your older apps needs an update it will use your old apple id and password, as Apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase it.
