  • Illustrator (CS 5.1) crashes after update to OSX Mavericks (10.9)

Illustrator 5.1 crashes while starting the app after update to OSX Mavericks (10.9)
    What can I do?

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. Never install crapware such as "CleanMyMac" or "Cocktail."
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

Is your MacBook compatible with Mavericks? Open  > About this Mac > More Info, and you will see the MacBook model you have got. Then, check in this site if it's supported > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs
If your Mac is not compatible, OS X 10.7.5 is the most recent version for your Mac. Also, copy the whole message you see when you open the Mavericks installer

  • SINCE UPDATING TO OSX MAVERICKS I HAVE SOME ISSUES..PLS ADVISE

First thing i noticed,is that swiping between pages in LAUNCHPAD is unresponsive, sometimes i just CAN'T swipe to other page...THIS IS KIND of a HUGE DEAL...WHY????? I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM WITH TRACKPAD?(scrolling in safari, swiping in other apps, going to mission control is without any problem, that's why its so weird...It just wont work in LAUNCHPAD)
Second problem,in my launchpad appeared an icon called READ ME UPDATE right after updating to OSX MAVERICKS....Thing is,i cant open it,i cant delete it,i cant do anything with it...WHATS HAPPENING??
And my LAST issue is also very ironic, because MAVERICKS promised better power management, but so far, whatever app i open and use,my FAN goes like crazy, from my totally silent MACBOOK became a HOWLING MONSTER...(this issue also came up right after updating to MAVERICKS,i didnt download anything after this update, just to be clear that no viruses could have gotten into my Mac by my fault)
    Apple PLEASE DO SOMETHING..
So far updating to OSX MAVERICKS only brought issues to my,MacBook Air i NEVER HAD...
    PLEASE ADVISE SOMEONE

  • HT204291 Since updating to OSX Mavericks, my airplay icon is missing

Since updating to OSX Mavericks my airplay icon is missing from my IMac (3.06GHZ).  However, it is present and working completely appropriately on my Macbook Pro with Retina display.  Both have the same OSX, Apple TV is fully updated.  I have reset my computers, appleTV, routers, iTunes multiple times, but it's just my IMac that is having the problems displaying the Airplay icon.  Not sure what else can be done or why one computer works while the other doesn't when the settings are otherwise the same.  Airplay worked on it without problem before the patch.

    1) open control panel.
    2)Choose Network and internet
3)Select the VIEW NETWORK STATUS TASKS under NETWORK and SHARING CENTER section
    4) Choose the active network connection. It is usually name " wireless Network Connection 1" or something similiar.
    5) Click the properties button
    6) If the Internet PROTOCOL VERSION 6(TCP/IPv6) is checked, uncheck it, then click OK.
    7) Click CLOSE
    8) Restart iTunes and try to use the Home Sharing feature again.

  • Photoshop CS5 - colour settings in Print menu not working after update Mac OSX maverick

After upgrading to Maverick OSX on the iMac printing from CS5 via Epson R3880 is not working correctly. In Print Settings menu the drop downs for Colour and Colour Settings are greyed out. I already re-installed PS and installed the new drivers from epson. Any ideas?

but after choosing PS manages color, the options in the print menu for choosing color (color or b&W) and color settings are not available anymore. They used to be the last three years I printed with photoshop/epson 3880.
Instead they are greyed out now.

If Photoshop managed color, then the controls in the printer driver are supposed to be grayed out - that's how Apple specifies drivers to work (because only one party should be managing the print color).
So what you're describing is perfectly normal.

  • TA48312 How can i update my osx software from my emac from osx 10.3 to the highest available software for an emac?

How can i update my osx software from my emac from osx 10.3 to the highest available software for an emac?
I have osx 10.3.x and i want to update to the highest possible. Please help!!!!! i cant find the download. And i dont want to lose any data!!

Depending upon the specific model you have you can upgrade to either 10.4.x or 10.5.x. Neither are available from Apple any longer, so you will need to look to eBay or Amazon for copies. Be sure to only purchase retail copies and not gray labled machine-specific copies.
If your eMac came with 10.3 originally and has a clock speed of 1 GHz or higher, then you can install Leopard, 10.5.x.
If you don't want to lose data then make backups.

    Help,
I work in various schools and have to use multiple different projectors.  I updated to OSX Maverick and my adaptor no longer works.  My computer seems to be recognizing the projector but the projector isn't recognizing my computer.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • I have an iMAC Intel Base. Since I updated to OSX Mavericks I can't record myself on iMovie.

I have a MAC Intel Base.
Since I updated my comp to the OSX Mavericks I can't record myself on iMovie.
Before the update this would never happen. I would simply click on my little VideoCamera record button
    and presto it would work.
Now all of a sudden I click on my little video camera record button & all I get is an error message
"No Camera Connected / To import video, please connect a camera"
Last time I checked my MAC is equipped with its own camera so I don’t understand why its not picking up on its own camera.
I've also already tried recording myself on QuickTime Player..... BUT I can't even upload or transfer my QuickTime Player to
import into my iMovie. This is so frustrating and I have no idea what to do or why it even started doing this.
To top this all off, coincidentally everything started going to **** when I updated to the OSX Mavericks.
    Please help.

I see the same dialog and definitely can't locate the app on the App Store.

  • My macbookair won't update to OSX maverick. Is it too old? What can I do?

I just tried to upgrade my Macbookair to OSX Mavericks. I get the message "OS X Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer". I purchasd my macbookair in late 2007. So that's it is it? I have to buy a new laptop to make the upgrade? I have upgraded my iMac, so now have it and the macbookair "out of synch" on software updates (e.g. iphoto '11 version 9.5 requires Mavericks, so my iphotos across the two machines are getting out of synch).
Any suggestions other than "buy a new macbookair for Christmas"
    Any help most appreciated

John ~ It doesn't make any difference, but according to Wikipedia, the earliest you could have purchased it would have been in early 2008.
