HT201364 Mavericks Upgrade Problems

Hi, Im not sure why i cant upgrade to Mavericks as i think my mac meets the requirements? Im running OS X 10.6.8, have 2gb of memery and plenty of hard drive space. Any suggestions?

Oh nothing major.  It's a little slow but overall is fine.  I just don't want any problems like some people get when they try and upgrade a 4 yr old computer.  What do you think?

  • Mavericks upgrade problems - download hanging

Seeking help with curious problem. I've been trying, unsuccessfully so far, to upgrade a mac mini to Mavericks from OS 10.7.5 (Mid 2011, 2.7 GHz Core i7, 8 GB RAM). Download starts and proceeds  slowly but ultimately stalls at 1.01 GB downloaded or about 20% of the way into the total download size (5.30 GB). I delete the hung download/start of install out of Launchpad and start again at the app store but the process simply repeats - it starts off well but stops at 1.01 GB downloaded. Most vexing.
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Zenurgist

the 1.01GB limit is an issue with 2-Wire or BT HomeHub routers.  It is either 995Mb or 1.01Gb limits.  The workaround is to go somewhere else that doesn't use these routers.

  • HT4628 How to solve WIFI Maverick Upgrade Problem?

Hi guys, so I have explored all options on the site and forums so far. After my upgrade to Mavericks I cannot find my wifi signal, or very very rarely.
It never stays. Often there are "connection time out errors". There are 2 iphones, 1 ipod, a old Apple powerbook, and Windows7 Machine all connected to the signal, never a problem. Up until my updgrade to Mavericks it also was strong, fast, connected, 500 feet away!
I am 10 feet away from the wifi device. I also have one other signal I do get but it drops continuously and will not stay. Its a very slow connection which I am writing from now. But at least I see that one!
What I have tried to fix this:
    Restart
Repair Disk Permissions ( about a thousand times...) -Failed
    Force Quit(Hard Reset) -Failed
    Reset SMC -Failed
Delete all network settings and keychain info. -Failed
    Reset Router -Failed
    Diagnostics -Failed
Joined network in "Safemode" and restarted. -Failed
    Change channel signals  -Failed
This is really causing me productions problems since I earn my income by being online
I have not even done the last big security update because I cannot stay online long enough to get that complete!
Does anyone have any more ideas? I am scared to reset PRAM... the last thing I have not tried (I once tried that with one of my former macs and my logic board died.)
Please advise, I am so frustrated. I just need to work...
Do I ditch Mavericks? Go back to Snow Leopard or maybe it was Tiger...? And if so, how?
All this as my i wifes phone, a powerbook, lenovo windows computer all happily stay connected. My ipod and iphone have no problems even 900 feet away.
    My stats... running 10.9.1

  • After Mavericks upgrade problems with video playback from iPhoto11

Since the upgrade to Mavericks my MBP (13” 2.4GHz 8GB medio 2010) is playing videos opened in iPhoto in poor quality and they are breaking up.
I tried to update to Quicktime 7 (versie 7.6.6 (1709)) and then if I try to "open with" Quicktime 7 from the file which I copied to a different location(desktop) and this is showing fine.
In iPhoto the .mov files are apparently still openend with the old quicktime version (10.3(727.1))
Also I upgraded to iPhoto 11 but still the same problem and tried to do a system check via starting up in safe mode but no go.
    Does anybody have an idea?
    thanks

    You might try the following:
1 - select a video file in the Finder and bring up its Info window (type Commnad + i).
2 - go to the Open With menu and select Quicktime Player 7.6.6.
3 - click on the Change All button.
4 - reboot, relaunch iPhoto and try again.

  • After OS X Maverick upgrade problems...

    Hello,
I have recently upgraded my computer to the latest OS X Maverick and I have reinstalled all my Adobe CC programs I am using ( Creative Cloud, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Lightroom and Edge Animate ).   After the upgrade to maverick I have nothing but problems with CC products.
First problem is very annoying white strip of a window that shows up every time I open CC and Edge Animate, it happens sometimes with Photoshop also.
Next and the bigger problem, that actually effects my productivity is in Dreamweaver.   When I switch between tabs the letter next to cursor gets underline and the save file is edited by it self. Next problem is that when I copying code from tab to tab the selected code will get sometimes deleted by it self after I paste the code in to other tab and return to the first.
I have none of those problems on my Windows 8.1 computer and I never had such a problems before I upgraded to OS X Maverick on my mac. I hope this can by resolved.
    Thanks.

  • Mavericks upgrade problems

After I upgraded to Pages 5.2 and Numbers 3.2, my printer won't respond.  What to do?

Try removing the printer then re-Adding it in Print & Scan preferences. If that doesn't help then see:
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).

  • Ultralite 1.15 and Apple Maverick Upgrade problem

Hi, I use an Ultralite 1.15 on an iMac for recording voice over. I was running Snow Leopard but 'upgraded' to Maverick yesterday, and now the mac doesn't recognise the Ultralite in the sound system preferences or in Logic or Garageband. I tried installing new drivers from the Motu site, but the mac says I can't open the updater because "...power PC applications are no longer supported". Am I missing something obvious? Cheers for any help.

Check with the developers to see if they support Mavericks, you are correct Power PC apps are no longer supported. That has been the case since Lion was released a few years ago. You may have to look for another alternative or pay for an upgrade to your current app.

  • Maverick upgrade problem

I am trying to upgrade to mac os x 10.9.0 from 10.6.8 but it wont let me. can anyone help me?

Then you're still doing incorrectly. It says that because you're using the 10.9.4 Updater software. The statement is correct for that, it only works if Mavericks is already installed.
You need to use the App Store app to get the full version of Mavericks  !!!!
Pay attention to what is circled:

  • Mac mini server Mid 2011 Maverick upgrade problem

Help needed I have a mac mini server mid 2011
    2x500gb hard drives
Hard Drive one is Macintosh HD
Hard Drive Two is Server HD
I upgraded to mavericks osx onto drive one Macintosh HD
I went to upgrade os x server for mavericks and it went to install on hard drive one Macintosh HD not the Server HD
So I formated both drives which partition map scheme is GUID Partition Table on both drives.
I done a new Install of Mavericks on drive one Macintosh HD that works fine
I downloaded OS X Server again and it is installing on hard drive one Macintosh HD and not Server HD
and it will not give me an option to Install on the Server HD.
I have also looked in the system preferances Startup disk and now I have a question mark showing.
When I open it it only shows Macintosh HD and NOT the Server HD
    Can someone please advise
I'm not bad on computers but this has stuped me.
Iif anyone can help please can you explain in easy terms if there is any.
    Thank you

Server.app will install on the same disk OS X resides on.
What I think you are seeking here is to have the server data on the other disk, and that is configured via Server.app, once you have Server.app installed.  Launch Server.app and select the server name at the top of the left column and then go to the Settings on the right side, and select where you want the service data there.

  • HT201364 Mavericks upgrade question

is upgrading a mid 2007 iMac with 4GB ram (the maximum) to Mavericks going to run smoothly or am i better off upgrading to a newer iMac?

Hmmm.  Can you tell me what hardware is needed?  I'm not doubting you, but I'm now confused.  I was in the Apple store last night and showed an Apple employee - not sure of his level of expertise, but he seemed confident in his answers - my hardware overview and he said that as long as I had at least 8Gb of disk space available, I should be ok.  He gave me instructions as to how to find this info when I went home.  I did that this morning.  I thought I was ok, but wanted to pose the question to the community to see if I got a different answer.  And now I have.  I asked him what would happen if I did not have 8 Gb of space and tried to download.  He said the computer would likely crash.
But an installer failing and a computer crashing are 2 different things.  You feel strongly that I should not attempt to upgrade?
