sudo pmset -a hibernatemode x
ändert man den Modus. (x steht hierbei für eine obigen Zahlen.)
Falls mit Deep Sleep Probleme mit dem normalen Hibernate (Standby) auftreten kann dies durch
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3
wiederhergestellt werden.
i found on

now go i go on trying first at system Security preferences as stated out to 5 –.

Thank you!

Re: Mac Pro's (early 2008) Back up plan towards a possible OS upgrade to Yosemite  in response to Juan Huerta
All new drives need to be partitioned GUID and formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled before they can be used.
OK, is that an option I'll be prompted to by the OS or do I have to "tell" that to...Disk Utilities (?)
If cloning is your purpose then use Disk Utility's Restore option. It will clone the drives and their Recovery HD partitions automatically.
I didn't know that Disk Utility had an option for cloning a bootable drive...is it better than CCC? (I have used neither one) I really would like to save $40 and avoid downloading additional software/applications...please if you don't mind...what option would that be once I click on "Disk Utility"? If you know of a good link or reliable article on the topic that will work for me too.
Test a clone be trying to boot the computer from it.
Any bootable drive in any bay can be used to boot the computer. Use Startup Drive preferences to set the desired boot volume.
Erase the target and try again.
But if the computer fails to start because I didn't create a good copy, how do I go back? Keyboard shortcuts? I keep reading that a wired keyboard must be used...and that's scary. If that's true, could I hook up any of my Windows based keyboards via USB?
Erase the drive and install OS X. You cannot use any software installed by the prior owner that was purchased via the App Store including OS X. You must start from scratch. (this actually is 5B rather than item 6.)
Well, he created an Admin account for me and I have been handling updates and everything with the new password he created for me. I wonder if I could access the Apple Store with my ID though...it's all under my name in that computer though, so I figure that at the Apple Store I'd just enter my ID...I guess, I have not tried that yet

Not until the day that 10.8 is released will anyone know the details but it's doubtful you will have to uninstall Messages. Native Mac OS X applications that run on v10.7 shouldn't be a problem wtih 10.8 but again, we won't know until Mountain Lion is released.

  • Email contact list breached and what about this "mac protector"

I use Hotmail as my email address, and safari as my web browser.
Last week someone was able to send an embarassing message to all the folks on my contact list.
    How could this have happened?
Also a couple of weeks ago, I received something called "mac protector" unsolicited. It looked very much like an update from Apple, but I deleted it.
Is there any connection between these two incidents, and what can I do to prevent anyone from getting my contact list again.
I'm running the latest MAC OS (10.6.7).
    Thanks for your help.

You were right to delete it: Mac Protector and Mac Defender are malware of a quite nasty kind: never ever install programs you are offered. Only obtain programs from legitimate sources. No legitimate program will arrive unannounced, or claim to have 'scanned' your Mac and found something.

  • Obsolete ABAP Statements from 2004s - what about your existing code-base?

    Hi
Note:  This is a question for someone that has a very deep understanding of the SAP compiler either through research or through actually working on the Netweaver Code stack
Since upgrading from 4.7 to ECC6 the ABAP compiler has become a lot stricter on the use of certain statements in the OO context.
For instance you're not allowed to use the statement LIKE, but in stead have to use TYPE and internal tables does not have an implicit header line, etc.
These restrictions are explained in greater detail [here:|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu/en/ABENABAP_OBJECTS_DIFF_TYPES_DATA.htm]
MY QUESTION:  To what extent does this restriction affect your existing code-base?.
We have over a thousand "Classes" written since 1998 in OO as far as it was available at the time.  For the most part each class is its own include in SE38, with the class definition and implementation together in this include.
Up to now, we could successfully change and activate these classes as long as the main program was pre-existing in 4.7.  Now we are trying to use one of these older classes in a new main program for regression test purposes, and we are getting the following error:
"Within classes and interfaces, you can only use "TYPE" to refer to ABAP Dictionary types (not "LIKE" or "STRUCTURE")."
This error is valid as per the current definition of the SAP language.
BUT I'm concerned about the confidence we can have that SAP will continue to interpret and execute existing code correctly.  So far it has, but I would like to know wheter that is by chance, or by design.

    Hello Esti
Thank you for your explanation which shows that I misunderstood your question.
I would have expected that all of your syntactically incorrect coding would not be executed, irrespective of whether it is an old or a new program. My interpretation of this system behaviour is that the syntax check appears to be release-dependent.
A possible way to check this would be to manipulate the TRDIR entry for one of your old programs. You will find a field LEVL with the following meaning:
    DE RDIR_LEVL
    Short Text
         Level
    Definition
System release under which the ABAP/4 program was created or last
         changed.
Another way would be to copy an old program to a new Z-program which should fail in the syntax check. Check again if you find any significant difference in their TRDIR entries.
Coming back to you question and the remark by Dion I am convinced that one of the biggest threats for each and every SAP customer is custom coding of poor quality, i.e.
"spaghetti" coding instead of structured programming
incomprehensible coding (at least for the developers who did NOT create the program)
low transparency resulting in high efforts to enhance or improve the coding
In your case: the possible breakdown of your coding depending on unknown external factors
Given the huge amount of coding that is affected from these unknown external factors I would classify your situation as "high risk" which demands rather quick actions. How could you communicate this to your management team?
    Here are two possible suggestions:
    (1) It is possible that your entire custom coding may be no longer executable after a SAP release upgrade. Thus, the currenct coding base may prevent one of the next upgrades.
I guess this is not yet impressive enough for a manager because usually a SAP customer is not forced to upgrade its SAP system in order to get new functionalities which are required for legal reasons.
(1.a) It is possible that your entire custom coding may no longer be executable after importing ABA and/or BASIS hot packages.
Given the fact that we need to import such packages quite frequently and sometimes they are mandatory (I think especially of SAP-HR systems) then I would be scared as a manager.
    (2) Assuming that most of your Z-reports are started via Z-transactions and perhaps you are lucky and you have specific roles containing these Z-transactions then you may ask your management team to do a simulation of coding breakdown: remove the role assignments for a couple of users and see what happens.
(2.a) As an alternative you may try to lock Z-transactions via SM01 and again check for the user reactions.
If your managment team is still not impressed then I would set up a document with the following contents:
Explain the problems of the old coding base and why you could not anticipate future changes of the ABAP syntax check
Describe the possible scenario if the custom coding no longer works after an upgrade or hot package import
Describe the required actions to make your custom coding compatible to the latest ABAP release
Most important: urge your management team to sign this document. If one day your custom coding breaks and they are looking for somebody to blame you just take this document out from the bottom of the deck
    Regards
      Uwe

Oops, other treads indicate this is a bug of some kind related to my @mac account. I thought Apple products were easy to use.

I had the same problem.  I managed to fix it by selecting the "Me" tab, then the "Account" button in the toolbar and then in the "Notifications" group I selected an email address for the "Send As" item.  Not sure how this got reset, but I was able to accept and request an invitation afterwards.

  • I have a complaint about my mac book pro being slippery. Why do these expensive computers that we as consumers purchase if you set them on a couch slip off no matter where you place them on the couch?

Hi, my Mac Book Pro 15 inch lap top if i set it on the couch no matter where I place it slips off and luckily so far I have caught it before it falls onto the floor and gets ruined, of which I am super afraid of, due to what I initially paid for it as the consumer. Also, the couch is not made of slippery material at all. Also, when using it on my lap while watching tv, and multi tasking while doing my college homework, it even slides off of my lap at times. Why is it called a lap top then when it's not working as one? Are we to wear rubber pants that grip your products? Also, Why do you place on your Apple website that in one area a satin cover is available in the teal color, and then in another area it's discontinued? I believe it would be simpler if Apple would just remove the product all together from the purchasing website once any product becomes discontinued. Also, I was sitting here at home waiting for a reply about the satin cover in teal no longer being available period or that it has shipped, but yet I ended up calling Apple altogether myself and finding this all out that the only available color is the black. It would've been nice to have recieved an e-mail or a phone call on why it wasn't going to be shipped, or shipping instead of having to do customer services job and doing the leg work myself. Also, why is it that no one also even tells a consumer about the classes that were offered to a new consumer for 14 days after purchase of paying the $99.00s to learn about their macs of any kind? If I had known about such a program, I surely would've signed right up for it. Now I am being told that I can only take one clas at a time or something?!? I seriously wish I was told about this as a consumer of the Mac Book Pro 15 inch, because I would've purchased that offer right away, and now I am stuck and can no longer do it. Also I have had my computer since October of last year. So, I am in college as becoming a graphic designer within a degree of an Associates of Science and am now still struggling to learn the computer, and the programs I pruchased as well at the time of purchase, along with an Epson printer, the magic mouse, and the one year warranty. As for this all, I do believe that Apple needs to make a better bottom to the Mac Book Pro's within a much better quality for the price we pay as consumers, and all other lap tops and/or Notebooks in making them slide proof. The tiny rubber spots on the bottom of the lap tops or any Apple computer similar to mine just needs a better quality improvement to us consumers I spent good money on this purchase, I think now I deserve a rubberised protective cover for free for the slipperyness, and also since I was never told about the program for the classes of which a consumer  was to pay $99.00s for, I think as a good paying quality consumer for Apple's products, I now deserve these classes for free as well.
    Sincerely,
    Kim

    Hi shldr2thewheel,
it has been a while since we have last spoke, I would like to let you know, I am still working on getting used to the switch from windows to a Mac/Apple system. I do have a new question for you, I did purchase In Design CS5.5 through journeyed.com through Cuyahoga Community College of which I attend as a student, is there a way to purchase an online book through iTunes to learn that as well? Also, you know me, the struggling student, I would also, when and if the book can be purchased through the iTunes, would need to know if you do know of a much easier book for struggling students like myself and at a reasonable price as well for the In Design CS5.5 program. Our campus bookstore had closed early, and, so did the colleges library and our local library here where I do live, so, I cannot go to either place to purchase a book or to take out a book, plus cash funds are low at this moment as well but, I do have money left on the iTunes account to use, if it can be used. So, can it be used, the iTunes money, towards finding a low priced online book? I am in great need of assistance as I have a project due for my one course for this Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Sincerely in need of help once again,
    Kim

  • I transferred a pages file from ipad to mac (also pages) via email for editing. However received message that cannot save edited document to the mac because "trial period has expired for iwork"! I have purchased pages for both machines separately. Ideas?

I transferred a pages file from ipad to mac (also pages) via email for editing. It opened normally. However, after editing, received message that cannot save edited document to the mac because "trial period has expired for iwork"! I have purchased pages for both machines separately and presumed they would work without a hitch. Am I missing something?

It used to be that to update the trial to the licensed version with the box, you just inserted the DVD & ran the installer to convert the trial to licensed. This changed with Snow Leopard. You now need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user.
Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his iDisk in For_iWork > iWork '09 > uninstall iWork '09.zip.

  • Are there viruses out there than can infect your Mac without you knowing anything. The virus is so stealth that it doesn't give any symptoms.

I have reason to believe my job is syping on me and i would like to know if there are viruses out there that can infect your Mac without you knowing anything. I believe there is one called "Finfisher".

FinFisher is an extremely high-priced spyware tool marketed to governments and law enforcement agencies. It's very unlikely that your employer would be able to obtain a copy.
Further, at this time, there is no known malware capable of infecting an up-to-date Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or newer. Of course, physical access changes the rules. If your employer has had unsupervised physical access to your machine, they could have done anything.
If they have had that access, and you truly believe that they have done that, there's only one way to clean your Mac up: erase everything and start over from scratch. See:

  • What does a MAC really need to do justice to FCE and FCEHD?

I need to purchase a new laptop. I want to use it to prepare 45 min documentaries. The original video will have audio filmed with it. I will want to add more narration, music, more photos, ie. the works. I have been using iPhoto and find that video containing audio and background noise, plus added narration, photos, and background music limits me to 20-30 min DVDs before stuttering occurs. What hardware do I need to do a professional job?
G4 Dual 1 GHz BUS 133 MHz using an external hard drive for iMovie   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   all software updates
G4 Dual   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   all software updates

    Hi(Bonjour)!
A laptop is not for professionnal video editing in a regular basis ( at least in your home editing room).
If you need absolutely the portability, that's Okay, but keep in mind that Hard Drives of laptop are slower than one in desktop machine. An external Hard Drive is recommended.
A desktop machine is less fragile, has more connectors on it and is generally faster that the "laptop" little brother (in a head to head comparaison at the same introducing date, the laptop are one generation behind ).
A desktop machine can be easily upgraded and the parts are less expensive.
A good mic is a must to catch good voice overs.

  • What files do I also need when I try to restore applications from Panther?

    Hi.
I made a copy of my entire hardrive in Panther. My apple came back with Tiger, cleanly enstalled.
Since the operating systems are different, I didnt just want to replace files ignorantly.
I did manage to drag and drop some applications accross the platforms (from one applications folder to the other) and I also did the same for related files found in application support.
I know there are some other files I may need to tranfer to make all my applications work properly. I think that prefference panes are one and support is another.
    Does anyone know for sure.
(I am not interested in using the migration assistant, so please do not offer that as a solution.!)
    thank you in advance !
    stickman

Thank you for your responce but I found it not so helpful, and inaccurate.
Like I said I have already installed some applications and copied their application support. They all work fine. Some of these files have registration and serial numbers in them...
But I am also aware that there are files (like a plist) and other files in a folder called support, prefference panes, pref and some others.
In fact I was reading this same information on one of the mac support pages, but after 3 days of searching I cant find them. I'd be happy just to see those pages again.
Anyways, you did give some helpful advise, but I am a tinkerer. I want to get under the hood of this computing machines operating system
Does anyone have any other suggestions ?
    thanks in advance

  • What about the Mac Virus

Will a real Mac user tell me about the latest virus? The Media has several different versions

Adobe is aware of malware posing as its Flash Player and warns users to ignore any updates that didn't originate on its own servers. "Do not download Flash Player from a site other than adobe.com," said David Lenoe, Adobe's product security program manager, in an entry on Adobe Product Security Incident Response Team's PSIRT blog. "This goes for any piece of software (Reader, Windows Media Player, QuickTime, etc). If you get a notice to update, it's not a bad idea to go directly to the site of the software vendor and download the update directly from the source. If the download is from an unfamiliar URL or an IP address, you should be suspicious."
    The ‘Flashback Trojan’:
A version of an existing Trojan Horse posing as a legitimate Flash Player installer (named “Flashback.A” by a security firm) is designed to disable updates to the default Mac OS X anti-malware protection system, potentially leaving the system open to the manual installation of other malware without any system warnings. The latest Macs do not have Plash Player included. In order to prevent a potential infection with “Flashback” Trojans, Mac users should always obtain their copy of Adobe Flash Player directly from Adobe’s official website and to disable the "Open 'safe' files after downloading" option in Apple's Safari browser to avoid automatically running files downloaded from the Internet. Also, do not turn on Java in Safari Preferences/Security. Few websites use Java. Javascript is something entirely different and should be left active.

  • New to apple-Do you all have anything good to say about your macs?

Wanting to expand from our love of the ios iphones and ipads to the world of macintosh macbook pros and imacs but as I read on these forums it makes me want to stay away due to all the problems.
I thought apple was famous and expensive for its engineering, design and quality. Has anyone got a Mac that worked or wasnt defunk for one reason or another? Convince me to not run back to my Sony Vaio. I thought apple was supposed to be better than pc? Please tell me it is because I want to get a macbook pro and an imac and fully get intot he apple ecosystem, but all this b**ching makes me think its just as bad as windows.

    ata,
I just wanted to chime in and give my iMac experience.
    1. I was on pc's for 13 years. Got my first, and currently only, iMac in April of 06 and haven't looked back
    2. Four years later, it still runs like a champ and no hard ware failure.
    3. Less system resources taken up by anti-virus apps and other security apps so more resources are available for the work I want to do.
    4. No mystery files or apps left on my desktop after internet browsing.
Now, was it a night and day difference in my workflow? No. Here's why: The apps that I use pretty much have the same layout and functionality as they did on my PC. So, to edit a photo or create an animation involved the same steps as before.
During my PC days, I would reformat my harddrive at least twice a year if not more to get the PC to run at it's original optimal speeds...not necessary with the iMac. Just download Onyx (backup first!) and run the cleaning apps. That's it. No, Onyx has never deleted anything I wanted to keep, backing up is just a precaution. I'm not saying you even have to use Onyx, I'm just a little obsessive about file build up...
A lot of PC vendors like to install their own bloatware which is why some pc users will reformat and reinstall the OS right after they bring the unit home. Again, mac doesn't do this.
I know PC users that have just purchased a new unit which does not include the backup cd's for the original hardware...that doesn't make sense to me. My mac came with one install disk that included ALL the software that was installed on the machine at the time of purchase.
I think you'll be happy with the mac.
