HT201364 Yosemite system requirements bafflement

I've got a 2010 or 2011 MacBook Air running 10.6.8, with 2 GB of memory and 29 GB of available space.  When I try to download Yosemite, I get a message that my computer doesn't meet system requirements -- near as I can tell, though, it does meet listed requirements.  Any thoughts? Thanks; I appreciate any help.

Oops -- it turns out my MacBNook Air was older than I had thought.  Never mind.

  • HT201364 Why can Maverick not be installed on my computer when I meet the system requirements?

I got my iMac in July 2007, which I believe is mid-2007, I am currently running v.10.6.8, have 2 GB memory and over 100 GB of available space. This to me meets the system requirements, so why do I get the "cannot be installed on this computer" message when I try to upgrade to Maverick?

Something does not match up.  Check your year of manufacture.
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space

What are you trying to do?  If you have a brand new machine, you don't need to download and install Mavericks.  You already have it.

  • Lightroom CC system requirements misleading?

The system requirements for visibility and install of LR CC through the creative cloud App appear misleading to me i.e. it states a "64 bit capable" processor is required, bit not that it will also need to 64 bit version of the OS installed.
Processor capability and OS 64 bit version is very different - and certainly not, as I was told by support, that "the processor represents the operating system" ito 64 bit capability. Any half savvy software developer or engineer would know they are not synonymous.
It was then suggested that I "update" to the 64 bit OS - complete lack of understanding that it takes a clean reinstall in Win 7 to get 64 bit support !!!!
To cap it off, I was told that if I did not want to reinstall my OS with 64 bit support, I could always just use the older LR desktop 5.7.1 application.
    Circular argument!!!
Anyone else been caught out by this?

If I were to purchase a new computer (Mac) with Yosemite or Mavericks installed, would I the receive the cc apps
    Yes.
The Cloud desktop makes available for download all software titles which meet the system requirements on that computer.
If you're on a Mac with Yosemite or Mavericks then you will see CS6, CC and CC 2014 available to install.

    Hi JDB38;
There is no such thing as an Intel G5. It is either one or the other but never both. An Intel tower is a Mac Pro. A G5 is a tower with a PowerPC processor in it. So which do you have?

  • InDesign 5.5 does not meet system requirements

    Hello,
Currently I have a much older version of Adobe creative suite, CS3. But I am currently attempting to install CS5.5 Master Collection onto my MacBook OSX 10.6.8. As I get to the Install options, I choose Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign 5.5 as those are the programs I use most. However, though both Photoshop and Illustrator meet my system requirements, InDesign 5.5 does not. I have no idea why InDesign does not meet my requirements. And I would like to wait before installing the programs on my computer as InDesign is the program I use most for my work.
I would just like to know why InDesign is not compatiable with my current computer and to see if there is a possibility to resolve this issue.
Please let me know if I should be more specific with my questions.
    Thank you,
    Peter S. Yang

Hi, Peter Y.: (FYI, "Peter" seems to be among the most popular names on this forum.)
Please note that Adobe's method of numbering ID releases is confusing in any language. "CS 5.5 Master Collection" is the full and correct collection name, but it's also the full and correct release name of the ID component it contains, as in "InDesign CS5.5," whether referring to the ID component that is integrated into the 5.5 Creative Suite, or to the single ID CS 5.5 product bought outside any Creative Suite collection.
On Mac, the About InDesign menu item under the InDesign menu will show a different number, just to make things crazy. ID CS 5 in the About panel is "Version 5." ID CS 5.5 in the About panel is "Version 5.5." In the early days before suites, ID 1.0 was version 1. When suites came in, for whatever reason, the new numbering convention came with it. It's absolutely guaranteed to baffle folks in the same way that, in Paris, "the left bank" of the Seine doesn't relate to which direction you're facing - it's always the south bank.
As Peter S. says, newer installing a newer InDesign release won't damage an installed older release. However, just to be super-cautious, keep in mind that installing a component from within a collection that has the same number as an existing installation of the same product that wasn't part of a collection may cause problems. For example, if ID CS5.5 was purchased as a single product and installed on a computer, installing ID CS5.5 from a collection may cause damage; perhaps someone on the forum knows if a warning message would appear in a case like this.
Also, it's well known that installing an older version when a newer version is already installed, can cause problems. For example, if ID CS5.5 is installed, installing ID CS5, ID CS4, ID CS3, etc., will cause problems. The issue is that some newer-version files reside in the same location as same-named older-version files, and installing older versions overwrites the newer files; the installers don't catch this problem, and so there's no warning message.
    HTH

It is just as the message says. Your video card is not compatible.
You can add a compatible graphics card and use FCP X with your mac.  I can't suggest which one, but maybe other people on this forum can guide.
And you may also get good suggestions in the Mac Pro forum.

  • Why won't Maverick Install.  Meet all system requirements.

So, my 2009 MacBook Pro is running 10.7.5 (Lion), and meets the system requirements having 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and the memory required.  It has an 2.33 GHz Intel Core Duo Processor.
When I click "install" in the App Store it states, "OS X Mavericks cannot be installed on this computer," with "We could not complete your purchase," above.  When I click "learn more," it sends me to the system requirements page, thus why I explained my setup.  I verified and checked the stuff in Disk Utility and there were no issues.
I just got an iPhone 6 Plus and with running the newest iOS 8 it requires one to have Maverick or Yosemite, eventually, installed to access iCloud Drive, so I'd like to complete the update to my OSX.  Any ideas?

Installer reports "OS X could not be installed on your computer" or "This disk cannot be used to start up your computer"
    I would do this first:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

  • System requirements 10.x

I have a slightly older Mac ( 2010 Macbook Pro, 4GB Ram ).  When I run iMovie I find it's very unresponsive and frequently needs to be forced to quit as the little spinning wheel is all I get to watch.
I looked at the App Store page but couldn't easily find the system requirements except that it requires Yosemite.. Is my Mac a little too underpowered to run iMovie on the experts opinions?? Maybe a ram upgrade will fix the issue?

Yes, I have Yosemite installed and my machine is running smooth.. It's iMovie that I am having a lot of trouble with and I am trying to determine how capable my machine is of handling iMovie.  The app becomes non-responsive every time I attempt to run it and I am only loading one 10 minute clip into the project.

  • SharePoint Server 2013 single server installation licenses and system requirements

We are thinking of setting up a SharePoint Server 2013 for the following features to be accessed by our test team (<100 users)
Our requirements are as follows -
Total user access <100 users(starts with 50 and may be go upto 100)
Mainly Access to TeamSite(Document library), WiKi, BI reports view(SSRS Reports integration)
We have a Visual Studio Ultimate license that covers SQL Server 2012 and Share Point server 2013.
We have also got a Amazon EC2 machine access to create a Xlarge box with Microsoft recommended Cores, Memory, storage for SINGLE INSTALLATION of SharePoint Server 2013 and SQL server database on Windows Server 2012
    My queries are as follows
Are the licenses above sufficient to go ahead with setting up the SP Server? or do i need any other licenses ?
I would like to create local LDAP in amazon without connecting to the company active directory. Would this be possible? We have users from other locations(different countries) providing services to our company and we would like them to access this portal
to share and access docuemnts without any network issue etc..
Are there any known firewall issues with EC2 machines for share point deployment
System requirements for single server installation (with or without BI reports)
Please note this implementation is only for internal use by the test team and is not critical. Not a production implementation.
    Is there any better solution?
    Much appreciate your help
    Thanks
    Vara

MSDN subscription licenses for SharePoint aren't, as far as i know, for use as production devices. This means that whilst you can use it for testing and development you can't use that license for the SharePoint server that you'll all be using.
As such I think you will need to buy a SharePoint 2013 server license. The same goes for SQL, Windows etc.
There is also the question of user licenses, ie. CALs. I don't remember if those come included as part of an MSDN subscription.
    2) Possibly. As long as Amazon can host a domain for you it should be possible.
    3) Pass. Microsoft prefer you to use Azure and most of my training and experience is with that.
    4) High. 4 cores, 24GB of RAM minimum.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262485.aspx#hwforwebserver
You'll either need a 2XLarge or a memory orientated box, in which case you won't have much storage space.
Internal team infrastructure is still important. If you're using it enough to make it worth having then you need it there and running.
Have you considered using Office 365?

  • On installation of Firefox 4 beta, it tells me that it won't run on my Mac. When I go to system requirements, it takes me to a page for Firefox3.6 requirements. Where can I find the requirements for the beta?

The link to system requirements for Firefox 4 beta takes you to a page that gives you the requirements for Firefox 3.6 instead. I assume that the requirements for the beta are different as I can't seem to install the beta on my Macs. Where can I find the beta system requirements?

I never expected Mozilla to neglect the users of Apple's PowerPC (PPC) computers, while still supporting much older operating environments such as Windows XP. So, I should just throw away a $6,000 system, which is still fast and functional, and contribute masses of heavy metals to land-fills because…?
I'm hurt and confused after supporting Firefox for many years — installing and using it not only on my own computers but on most of my customers' computers. Now I have to tell my customers with PPC Macs they can't have a secure cross-platform browsing experience from Mozilla. They'll have to learn to use some other browser, or buy a new computer.
If one doesn't buy a new computer every year, one doesn't deserve Firefox 4. This is sort of sounding more like a Microsoft™© doctrine. (But wait, I can still have Firefox 4 on a ''SERIOUSLY CRAPPY WINDBLOWS XP pile of rubbish?!'') Please open your eyes Mozilla. This just doesn't make sense.

  • Questions on the capabilities of the Adobe media server and system requirements

    Hello
We need to send multiple video streams on different computers and screens in our organization. To do this, we need a dedicated server with the following functionality:
    - transmit up to ten (or even more) HD and FullHD streams simultaneously
    - manage playlists in real time without relaunching stream every time after adding items to the playlist
    - imposing of any text and video effects
    - use a variety of sources: a folder with pictures for the slideshow, video and audio files, video capture devices, video streaming from other resources
Is Adobe media server suitable for our tasks?
What are the system requirements (I do not mean minimum requierements)?
If we buy adobe media server, will it be enough? Or we will have to buy additional software products to provide all the necessary functionality?
    Thank you.

    1 and 2 is possible
    3 is not
4 AMS is not an encoder and does not encode or create streams. You have to use other software for that.Adobe FMLE is for live streaming...Use third part software like manycam(a virtual webcam on your machine) to generate video sources out of slide shows.

  • Questions about System Requirements for Adobe Air programs

Earlier today I asked someone who runs Tweetdeck if they knew what the system requirements were for running Tweetdeck on my desktop (Windows)
they gave me a link here: http://www.adobe.com/products/air/systemreqs/
    and I found this:

    2.33GHz Intel® Pentium® 4, AMD Athlon® 64 2800+, or faster processor
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home, Professional, or Tablet PC Edition with  Service Pack 3; Windows Server® 2003 or 2008; Windows Vista® Home  Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise (including 64-bit editions)  with Service Pack 2; or Windows 7
    512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
    Here are my computer statistics:
Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Basic (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1 (6001.vistasp1_ldr.101014-0432)

    DX Setup Parameters: Not found
         DxDiag Version: 6.00.6001.18000 32bit Unicode
Will me only having a 2.1GHz processor really affect how my performance is with Adobe Air products/apps in general?

Yes- I've had some lower price pc's using an Adobe AIR app and can tell the difference.
Computers where performance was a huge issue was Compaq CQ56 & Toshiba Satellite C655D
These computers are under 2.0 GHz and the app seems to freeze up on occassion or run slower.
