find my phone activation has locked my phone and now I cannot activate or restore my phone .. server cannot be reached using icloud
having this same problem... then i try to restore it using itunes.. but it keeps saying "find my phone must be turned off before restoring" but i can get into my phone to turn find my phone off...

I would recommend making sure you are updated to iOS 7.0.3 and see if that resolves your issue as it provides a fix for issues related to iMessage. If the issue persists I would recommend going through the troubleshooting steps in two articles I have attached below.

Generally this is a sign that the iPhone had previously been
hacked/modified/jailbroken and the update relocked it to the
original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Where did you acquire this iPhone?
What wireless carrier did you use before this problem?
Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>About=>Carrier?

I heard about all the problems with the new iOs 7 update but also heard Apple would force me to do it. I tried to update but didn't have enough space. Had to delete ALOT of my apps and still not enough space. Phone was working perfectly fine and message pops up that "I will not have any service until I restore to iTunes. I plug into laptop to restore and it forces me to update to iOs7. Takes 3 hours. It updates but phone doesn't restore. Have tried all the troubleshooting tips:reset to factory settings, recover etc. Got a new SIM card because it said I don't have one but I do. Apple support wouldn't help me because I was out of warranty, and said I would have to pay. Went to the Apple store and they couldn't fix it and said "it's a hardware issue" that will cost me $170.00+. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THE NEW iO7 FRIED MY PHONE'S HARDWARE. The phone is on the HELLO stage and keeps searching but will not activate to server- it's temporarily unavailable. Have tried multiple times.I have a 3 year contract with Rogers and the phone is less than 2 years old. Apple needs to take responsibility for crashing my phone. I NEED A FREE NEW PHONE!!!
Restore it to factory settings, then set it up from your back up. Did this last year when I got my new iPod, and it worked. I have no idea why syncing OTA can sometimes glitch, but hopefully this will help.

Updated iphone 3GS to iOS 5, now my company e-mail will not send "because server does not allow relaying". I'm just an employee, not an IT type - have no idea what this means and I'm very frustrated. Also infuriated with Apple because THEIR update caused this to happen, yet I have to PAY for their support because I have an older iPhone. Someone please help.
razmee209, thanks for your reply. After signing up for the community, I saw that I wasn't the only one. However, I think I've solved it by looking over the comments in reply to others with this problem.
First, I think the iOS5 update may have made the phone default to IMAP setting. I noticed when I deleted my account and re-set it up that there is a large button at the top for either IMAP or POP. It is already defaulted to IMAP, but my account must be POP. So this is the first thing to check when you're setting up your account.
Second, I noted some other comments about needing to supply a username and password to the outgoing server even though it says optional. I included those, but got a message that it wasn't recognized (or something like that) and did I want to continue anyway. I told it to continue. After a few seconds, it verified my account, and now everything works.
Hope this helps others having this problem. -

i have has problems with mobile signal. it comes and goes. this all started to happen when i updated to ios 8. i have updated tot he new ios 8.1 but it still didn't help. apple have checked my device and said its a hardware fault. now my phone decides that it needs to activate all the time but now will not connect to the activation server. connect to itunes and have the same message. i am out of my year warrenty so apple will not repair or replace. neither will my service provider. it cannot be a coincidence that this happened at the same time as the update. it must have been the update itself that caused it. i heard that the wifi problems with the update caused the wifi chip to be damaged.can anyone help me please.

If it is a hardware fault there is no troubleshooting that's going to help you, especially if you took it to Apple and that's what they told you.
I'm sure they gave you some sort of solution to your problem - I'm assuming buy a new phone. -
TS2846 iPhone will not activate
This morning, I plugged my iPhone 4S in to charge. When I looked at it again, it had decided that I needed to activate it. I pressed "next," but I got the message "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Alright, I have been trying again over WiFi for the past twelve hours now, so eventually I gave up. I tried connecting it to iTunes, but I have never heard of an "activate" button, and there is no promt to do so. Therefore, I decided to restore it. However I get the message "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "Ioanna's iPhone". The requested resource was not found." (Now, maybe this is understandable, as a friend of mine who is an Apple Producer tested iOS 6 beta on my iPhone because his was broken at the time.) I have the software to restore my iPhone from still saved on my Mac, but I do now know how to tell iTunes to restore from there!
Futhermore, once I eject my iPhone from iTunes, I get the message "The software on the iPhone "Ioanna's iPhone" has expired and must be updated to a newer version. I try to click on "Check for Update," and I get the message "This version of the iPhone software (6.0) is the current version." What exactly is going on?Hi MariemEJ,
