HT201365 reverse the remote erase on find my phone

Thought my laptop was stolen - two days later the person who took it accidentally found me and returned it.  In the meantime I had set it to erase using find my phone.  Is there anything I can do to turn that off now that the laptop is back??  I have a backup but it's 5 days old, would love to avoid the loss of data if possible.

How can I pull the internet connection?  It went to sleep with wi-fi on, when I enter my password and log on it will find the network and log on automatically.  Is it as simple as going somewhere out of reach of any network it has a password for?

  • I just used "Erase" via "Find my phone" to erase and rest my MBP. It's caused my MBP to be locked. I entered correct 4 digit PIN and it seemed to accept it, but it won't allow use of the internal drive. Yosemite loaded. Anyone else had same problem?

    Greetings Fraser Alexander,
Erasing your Mac shouldn't harm your internal hard drive but erasing does clear Yosemite and everything else off of it.  Are you not able to restore it with your Time Machine backup?
    iCloud: Erase your device
If you erase then find your Mac, you can restore the information on the Mac using a Time Machine backup. For more information, see the Apple Support article Recover your entire system. If you set an EFI firmware password on your Mac before it was lost, then erase it and later find it, you may need to take your Mac to an authorized repair center to unlock it before you can use it again.

Forgot passcode to iPad. Has not been connected to itunes. Tried to erase from "find my phone". But it is offline. Tried to restore it. But itunes said it couldn't because it had a passcode. How do I fix this?

    Them try:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • How to disable erase from find my phone?

my ipad and mac was stolen. in Find my phone erase was enabled, when ipad was found as everything was erased, could not be located. i don't want that to happen with my (ex) Mac, how to disable erase from find my phone.
    Thanks

Do not use Erase. Instead use Lost Device. However, if the items are automatically erased then you cannot locate them nor change the setting.

  • HT201365 Stolen iPhone 5 but installed Find My Phone after it was stolen and bought new phone. Can locate old phone.

My iPhone 5was stolen but unfortunately I installed the find my phone app after it was stolen and now have another iPhone. I can still track my stolen iPhone on my iPad and it is in my neighborhood but I can't exactly knock on the door and demand it back. If I play the sound and send messages they appear on my new phone, however. If I can't get my old phone back I want to make it impossible for the new user to operate it. I have erased all the data on the old phone to the best of my knowledge. I don't want to erase it as I'm scared all the data on my new phone will be erased.please help. I am in Indonesia.

But did you enable Find My iPhone in settings on your stolen phone before it was stolen?  If you didn't, you can't track it or do anything else using Find My iPhone.

How are you doing that if you didn't enable Find My iPhone on it before it was stolen?  Are you sure you aren't tracking your new phone rather than your old one?
If I play the sound and send messages they appear on my new phone
That's an indication that you are tracking your new phone, not your old one.

  • Changing the alert tone when "find my phone" is activated?

Is there a way to change the alert tone on iphone 4s when the "find my phone" is activated? The one it plays is kind of weak. TIA!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    I don't believe there is.

  • Hello, I loss my Iphone and it was set to erase. One hour later the someone found it and it has been recovered. Can I reverse the pending erase mode in Icloud?|

Hello, I loss my Iphone and it was set to erase. The process is still pending. Is there a way to reverse this process.

Login to your account and see if it will accept a cancel but usually it will not.  Do not turn your iPhone on, instead connect to iTines and backup the iPhone, then if it erases restore the backup.

  • I have Remote Desktop loaded on my i pad.  i am trying to change the address on the Remote Desktop to find my pc with a new address.  any ideas

    Any ideas out there?

I believe you are referring to some other program. Apple Remote Desktop is Apple's software for managing networked Macs and does not run on an iPad. I'd suggest you repost your question in the iPad forum, detailing what app you actually have.
    Regards.

  • Is there a way to reverse the order of a finder column?

I would like to reverse just one collumn instead of A>Z, Z>A. I have file numbers that I would rather have show up at the top. Does anyone know a way to do this?  Thanks!

In List view, in the Name column, simply toggle view by clicking on the arrow.
The Arrange icon in the Toolbar is also handy for selecting sort options. Try Kind to sort as files, folders etc.

  • What is the best way to find your phone once its located swith the find your iphone app even though your phone is dead?

I lost my phone. The app was able to tell me it was located and where i was,bt whos to say I drive an hour and a half out somehwere and cant find it? someone may have it? and have me goin on a wild gooose chase. i just want my phone back

The best method for creating a bootable backup  is to use an external HD and either SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner . It's really that simple. The drive does not need to be 2TB, that is the capacity of your internal HD. Get a general idea of how much is on the internal HD and then allow for growth. For example if you have 500GB stored on the HD now that say's you are at 25% of capacity. If you allow for growth and figure a 1-1.5TB drive will give you several years then that is the size drive you should get.
BTW DO NOT, repeat DO NOT use your TIme Capsule or any other drive for creating the bootable clone.

Does find my phone have a history that shows where your phone has been like in the last 24-72 hours?

All you may infer is the device hasn't been turned on where it can connect to Wi-Fi.
The phone may be jailbroken if there is no lock passcode to prevent access. However, the phone can be completely erased and restored as new. In this case you will have no ability to locate it or prevent it from being jailbroken.
What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. Thank you again for all of your help!! I really appreciate it!
I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.
Thank you for letting me know about my contacts! How do I know if I have the contacts app?
Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(
How can I sync using USB? Right now when i click on the info tab for my iPhone in my iTunes this is the answer that I get -- I am a little unclear as to what it means.
    Sync Contacts:
Your contacts are being synced with you iPhone over the air from iCloud. Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on you iPhone
