I have a brand new iPhone 5S running ios 7.04. I can't get the "Touch ID" to work and I'm convinced it's a software issue. I read Apple's post on the subject (iPhone 5s: Using Touch ID) and the screens they show in the article are NOT what I have on my phone. Mine has no "Edit" button and there appears to be no way to delete a failed scan. The rest of the OS seems to be okay - I've no idea what to do.
I'm not sure why you are not seeing the Edit button. I have it on mine. However, you should be able to delete the finger by swiping it from right to left and a red delete button should appear.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!It likely means there was still water inside it and something has now shorted out and permanently damaged one or more components. My new iMac did not come with iDVD as they are not using iDVD any longer. I made a movie that I needed to put on a DVD that would play on any external DVD player. After calling Apple twice, they recommened a 3rd party program so I downloaded "Burn-osx" and made the DVD; however when i insert it into my player connected to the TV it gives the message "disk error --playback feature may not be available on this disk". Ok--now what? I am up against a time line here--need the DVD for a graduation party! Help! What am I not doing correctly?

If you are still within your 15 day return period. Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge. (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick. You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD. I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, and others. None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie. Get iDVD. -
i have a brand new macbook pro that i was doing a data transfer via firewire from an old macbook, it got stopped/cable pulled out, now have spinning wheel of death that wont stop, how do i reboot/stop the wheel of death and start again? (this time il use time machine transfer)
Just power off the machine(s). Shut them down. Migration Assistant gets 'stuck' sometimes - best way to migrate really isn't over Firewire, though it will certainly work, but with both machines hardwired via Ethernet to the same router. You can use a TM backup, too, of course, provided that it's recent. Which is the best? Your choice. I've done it both ways and have a preference for MA, but TM restore can be a bit faster and less quarrelsome.

I have a brand new mac book pro, I want to plug my iPhone into it & transfer everything from it onto the mac book, pics,music etc. I'm worried if I plug my phone into the Computer I will loose everything. How can I make sure this doesn't happen?
When you plug your iPhone to Mac,click the Summary button and select “Manually manage music and videos".Then iTunes would never delete your original music.

I have a brand new mini mac and a new apple TV. Both have been updated and can see my movies in itunes. I can use Netflix and stream music. I have tried to use my old laptop and it streams video fine. But my new computer only see a spinning circle.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing. -
I have a brand new ipod touch and it wont connect to itunes or my computer!!??
I have a brand new ipod touch however when I connect it to my computer, itunes does not recognise it and neither does my computer. The drivers have downloaded and are showing working. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing itunes as discussed in support centre however nothing seems to work. The ipod itself just has the connect to the computer on the screen, is fully charged and when plugged in a little lock sign comes up for a second or two above the itunes icon!!! Let me know if you have any further suggestions please.
Thanx for you suggestions, I used my old xp laptop...update software and my ipod connected however the memory is not large enough to hold my itunes library so I could see it was not the cable or the ipod at fault.
I have tried to connect to my vista laptop again and have tried all of the suggestions in troubleshooting again...I have even upgraded to windows 7 to see if that cleared the problem....and....my computer has located my ipod but is only recognising it as a digital camera so back to the drawing board...

I have a brand new 3T external hard drive (the Lacie Porsche p9230.) I manually backed up several big files from my computer ok, but all attempts to do a time machine backup just stall, usually after only a few K are backed up. hours go by, no progress.
The first time, it did 3 gigs in just a couple minutes, it then got to about 9 gigs, then nothing for 2 hours. all subsequent attempts have done merely a few k, or megabytes, then all just stopped, still appearing as if they are proceeding, but with no results over a long time.
It could indeed be the hard drive on my computer itself, but aside from this the computer functions normally, though slow (it's old, 2009.)
As stated. I WAS able to manually back up a folder exceeding 250 gigs in size, and then another of about 14 gigs.
So, why can I nt do a time machine backup, effectively?All is not lost yet. Lets take it from the begining. By default, the OS is set to mount and drive plugged in. And for the most part it does work. If you haven't already done so, pop open the external case and make sure all of your cables are well seated.
Next
Plug in the drive.
Fire up Disk Utility
In the window pane on the left-hand side, select the drive (selection with the size information of the drive ie - 232.9GB WDC WD2500. . . .)
Click on volume format and make sure Mac OS Extended (Journaled) is selected
Click on the Erase button
After a couple of minutes is should be done and mounted on the desktop
You can also use Apple System Profiler as a troubleshooting tool. Fire it up and select Firewire from the selections. This will bring up a list of all of the devices it can discover and talk to. If your drive is there and working, it should come up with the drive information such as size, manufactor, etc. -
I have a brand new iphone 4s unlocked version from singapore and I am experiencing constant network fluctuations on my iphone , no service, call failed, invalid sim, sim failure, bars fluctuating from 5 - 3 - 2 - 1, no signal/bars searching etc... Ifeel miserable after trying out all the options changed multiple sims, tried multiple carriers, restored the phone back and have set-up as new device but the problem does not get solved... its is so frustrating that after investing on a world's most expensive phone you cannot enjoy the calling features which the phone offers which is the main thing you own the phone for.. Rest of the things are working.. The funniest part I am not able to make calls or receive calls but can access the internet.. I have tried every possible thing and really very frustrated with this iphone of mine...I hope the problem gets solved.. would anyone have any solutions to this problem.. Does it mean one should never update software as I hear that after updating to IOS.5.1 the problem has started coming and same has been with there.... Apple says its a hardware failure which is very difficult to digest as sometimes I get 5 bars and able to make and receive calls but 95% of the time I am unable to. If anyone has any solution I will be very happy if he or share can share the same. Many thanks. its so disgusting to experience this on top of this apple does not support global warranty for the phone as you need to go to the country from where you bought the phone for replacement.. Truly sad state of affairs.. very very very dissappointing.

You have a choice as to whether or not applications in Lion like Word or Preview (or even Safari) save and re-open previous documents or windows... just hold down the option key while quitting a program and when you re-open it you won't get the previous documents or windows when you re-open the application. You can see this by selecting the open program in the menu bar and when holding down the option key the quit function will change to quit and discard open windows. This feature in Lion is referred to as "Resume" and is great if you want to restart an app and return to what you're doing (for example in Safari re-opening existing windows and tabs from your previous session). You still have the option to close individual windows within an app before quitting and they will not re-open when the app is launched again.
This Resume function is not related to saving your work (a word or text document for example). This is handled by Lion's "Auto-Save" and "Versions" functions. See http://www.apple.com/ca/macosx/whats-new/auto-save.html
