HT201380 how can i restore my apple desktop back to factory condition?
restoring back to factory condition
This forum is for questions about Apple Remote Desktop, Apple's software for managing networked Mac systems, and hence not the best place for your question. I'd suggest asking in the forum for the version of Mac OS X your iMac came with.
Regards.

How can I restore my new Macbook pro to Factory setting?
How can I restore my new Macbook pro to Factory setting?
Install or Reinstall Lion from Scratch
If possible backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: Be sure you have an active internet connection. -

How can you restore photo stream photos back to Apple TV after accidentally deleting from your iPad
After accidentally deleting photo stream photos on my iPad, this deleted photo stream photos on my Apple TV. How can I restore these photos back to my Apple TV and also to my iPad? Suggestions welcomed
If you have a backup of your iPad prior to the date of deleting your photos, you can find them. Otherwise, you might be able to find them.
If you do have this backup, then you'll have to restore your iPad to that point.
If you had a Mac with iPhoto, then when you connected your iPad, iPhoto would store the photos separately from Photostream.
I despise Photostream. It's turned off everywhere on my system. It is one of the most useless pieces of junk that Apple has foisted on my Mac and iOS. But hey, that's just my opinion. -
How do I get my old imac back to factory condition without a DVD so I can sell it
My old imac did not come with a DVD, neither did my new one for that matter, how do I erase all my personal data and return the old machine back to factory condition without a DVD?
That's a great tip If the Op has the original version of OS X installed. If he ever upgraded to Lion or Mt Lion he can not sell the computer with either of those OSs installed as they are Tied to his Apple ID and not to the computer.
This will cause all kinds of problems for the buyer.
The OP needs to get replacement system discs from Apple and install the original version of OS X on it before it is sold.

Locked Out, Forgot Lock or Restrictions Passcode, or Need to Restore Your Device: Several Alternative Solutions
1. iOS- Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

How can I restore the "Apple- OS X" link to the Dock, next to the Trash?
Okay, I'm an idiot. I was trying to drag an icon to the Trash to eject a disc on my brand new Intel DuoCore, and in the course of fumbling around with the new mouse, I managed to make the "@" link to Apple/OS-X vanish from the Dock. Since this is not an application per se, how can I put it back? (As a OS X newbie, I rather like having it there....)
Advice is greatly appreciated, as is your patience with my fumbling fingers....Use Safari and go to www.apple.com/macosx. After the page loads, drag the URL from the address bar to the Dock and let go.

How can I get my apple ID back if my ID were stolen and all of my personal information were changed
I recently found out if someone else stolen my apple ID then he can login my account on apple's website and change almost every information, like my first and last name, my apple ID, my password, my security question and my birthday... Those information are used for resetting password and retrieving the apple ID, if they were all changed by some thief how is that possible for me to get my apple id back? Is there any way to protect my apple id in case of this kind of things really happen?
Try contacting Apple for assistance by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Products and Services>Apple ID>Other Apple ID Topics>Lost or forgotten Apple ID password.

How can I restore my new iMac back to when I first switched it on?
I was so keen to get my new iMac working that I got my name wrong in the setup and I stupidly skipped the migrate settings step which would have taken everything over from my old Mac.
How can I get back to how things were when I first switched on so I can go through the whole procedure again - this time the right way?
Thanks in anticipation.
GeoffT.
iMac 24" Mac OS X (10.4.9)Thanks Matt. Your comments are reassuring.
But I also need to reset the name that I typed in at the beginning as I started to set up the machine for my business partner (we bought two - one for him, one for me) but he finished up taking the other one. So I need to go back to that first switch-on screen again.

Okay. I recently changed my icloud storage plan to 20GB, for $0.99 a month, to have more room in my phone. After that, I realized a lot of my videos were acting up and wouldn't play. I honestly don't know what I did, nor that I can remember, but I tried to play around a little with my phone to see if anything would work again. Then I ended up storing more than HALF of my photos and videos in my icloud storage, and now I can't seem to get them back into my regular iphone stream! I can't see ANY of the pictures/videos stored in icloud, but it tells me that I have 377 photos and 16 videos stored in icloud, and 2.2GB are used, and I could only see 33 photos, and 8 videos in my phone! I want to know how I could UNDO all this, and put EVERYTHING back in my iphone storage, and OFF of icloud! icloud confuses me a lot. I'll just stick with 5GB. HELPP PLEASE!!!
And also, I want to know WHYYYYY I have to keep downloading my videos before playing them!Felixecoga wrote:
My computer is now almost 3 years old and never had any maintenance or any software cleaning whatsoever.
That's fine.
It takes forever to shut down and to star up (compared to when it was new with snow leopard) .. Some programs are now running slow (iMovie, Photoshop) and very often it just doesn’t respond so i have to turn it off the hard way loosing what I was working on.
Have you tested in a fresh user account, or in Safe Mode ?
A clean install is rarely necessary, and may not even solve the problem. If you plan to do a clean install and migrate, you defeat the purpose of a clean install.
If you do a clean install you'll also need to replace your iLife apps from the disks that shipped with your Mac, they're on Disk 2. -
How do you restore OS X Lion back to factory defaults?
I want to do clean up my hard drive a lot, and I'd like to just take the OS back to factory.
First, if anyone knows how to do this properly, please describe how. Second, if I restore back to factory is it possible to redowload my apps and everything from the app store/itunes, or do I have to do something different? I am very unfamiliar with how Mac OS X works, and I could really use some help. Thanks in advance.homiedontrightclick wrote:
Is there a version of the OS there ready to install, or do I have to have a flash drive with the OS on it?
Booting into the recovery mode (restarting with CMD+R) brings up a minimal OS that allows a few utility functions. However, that suite just queries Apple's servers for the appropriate installer, which it downloads to your machine. Do note that you should try to save a copy of this install app to a separate location, since the ill-designed one deletes itself during installation, necessitating wasting resources (bandwidth, time, and electricity) if you need to recover or restore it.
Once you obtain a copy of this installer, mount the InstallESD disk image and burn it to an empty HD volume or flash drive. That eliminates DLing it in the future and gives you a full and bootable installer. -

What model Mini?
How to identify Mac mini models
If you have another Mac there are ways to use the other Mac to regain use of the "new" Mac.
Try booting to recovery and see if you can reinstall the OS:
OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support
Doing so depends upon the OS that was on the Mac before and what was done.
Otherwise you will need to boot from install disks.
You can call Apple 1-800-MY-APPLE
If you have a Mac with an Intel processor you can order Snow Leopard install disk here
and boot from it and format the disk and instll Snow Leopard.
