HT201386 iPhoto text recovery in ios8

I created a couple of projects in iPhoto that recorded the events with each picture. I need to extract the text from the journals. The text can be unformated. The alternative I believe is for Apple to allow the downgrade to ios 7 to have access to the information.
Thanks

Sorry, but you can neither access the journals in any way in iOS 8 nor downgrade the system to iOS 7 again. If you published you journal as webpage you can access it from your iCloud homepage.
Send feedback to Apple to let them know that it is essential that iPhoto will be upgraded to work with iOS 8 to allow you to recover your Journals.

Why is iphoto not supported from ios8 anymore?! I put alot of work in slideshows and now i cant use them anymore?! That really makes me angry, why are u keep making it worse and more complicated than it already is with every new update!

Please write this to Apple using the feedback form, so the developer team will see it. This is a user-to-user forum, and we cannot do anything about it.

Why is iphoto not supported from ios8 anymore?!
Making iPhoto run on iOS8 would have required to a major upgrade and rewriting of code, since the the parts of iOS that support image processing changed considerably. Apple decided to release a new Photos.app to replace iPhoto instead of upgrading iPhoto.  See this help documents:
Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8
Get help finding your Photos in iOS 8
When you send feedback to Apple, be sure to request the features that are missing from Photos and need to be upgraded, if Photos is really to be a replacement for iPhoto.  So far, Photos is very basic, and does not yet offer, what has been lost by killing iPhoto.

  • Text Recovery via Serial Number?

Is there any way to search text messages via the iphone serial number? I had water damage and had to replace, I thought I had backed up my phone to itunes but I can not find it with a text recovery system, wonderwall for itunes.

No, the only way is that you have access to the old iPhone or you sync your iPhone to your computer or used iCloud.

  • Partially successful deleted text recovery

    Phone type: LG VX9100
I was looking to recover a few deleted texts from this past weekend.  I know, there are a million forum posts all over on this topic.  I’ve read them all and still have a question. I downloaded BitPim (the fourth data recovery tool I tried) and I was able to recover four of texts that had been deleted.
However, it only recovered the four that I hadn’t yet officially read.  They were short enough to read in the Inbox of this phone.  When I’d realized what I’d done I immediately stopped sending or receiving texts to avoid "bumping" the deleted queue. I assume that unread messages just get held longer than read ones before permanent deletion from the phone.
I do consider myself fortunate that I even got that far but I thought if that’s possible, maybe recovering the other four is as well.  Any similar experiences?  Any advice?

Unless you had the texts backed up somewhere, once deleted from your phone, they're gone.

  • IPhoto Library -Recovery Possible

    Hello-
Yesterday my hard drive on my iMac died. Which ws unfortunate. What is more unfortunate is that it died while backing up my iPhoto library.
So now on the back-up disk the iPhoto library is a fraction of it's old size and only contains a few photos (i looked on a friends mac) is there anyway to recover the old iPhoto library before this botched back-up ? I'm assuming the pictures are still somewhere on the back-up drive, but they can't be seen.
    Please let me know.

Without the Originals I'm afraid you're out of luck.
I'm sorry but I don't understand the rest of your post.
I'm guessing that you have a back up on this drive, and attempted to make a new back up by dragging the Library +on top of+ the existing back up. Is this the case?
Your next move is to try an file recovery utility such as File Salvage to scan the disk to see what is recoverable. This will do the scan without needing you to purchase, however, actual recovery will require that you buy.
Set it to scan for jpegs or whatever format your camera uses.
In the event of different versions of the same photo being found *always choose the largest filesize* - that has the best chance of being the original file.

  • Iphoto image recovery error

Hi.  Everytime I open Iphoto 9.5.1  I get presented with a splash screen with the message "4 photos have been found in the Iphoto library that were not imported. Would you like to import these ?"
Regardless of whether I select yes or no, a "recovered photos" folder is created and I get a  confirmation that the files have been placed in it - the system will not let me proceed without an action. When I check the folder, it is empty. Regardless whether I delete this folder or not, a new folder is created each time.  I have to go through the process twice with each boot before I can access Iphoto library. Whether I have the external drive that may hold the files that Iphoto is referencing attached or not, makes no difference.
My assumptions are : That there are some rogue non native files somewhere that I can't find but Iphoto can, and that the file recovery process is buggy.
Due to the nature of the issue, googling keywords for a solution is useless as all the results returned are about how to recover / import photos in Iphoto.
Anyone got any ideas how to resolve the issues or am I looking at a clean instal ?
    Thanks
    Jeremy

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. Make no other changes. Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

  • IPhoto text field input focus requires mouse hover

This is driving me crazy. To add text to a photo title or description, the mouse must not just click in the text box -- it must stay there! If the mouse drifts away after the click or you bump the mouse while typing, text input stops. This is seems peculiar and turns out to be quite frustrating. This reminds me of the old days when there was a debate over window focus and mouse movement.
Once you click into a text field, that field should stay active until you do something intentional to leave it (tab, enter, click, etc.).

I'm having the same problem as you with dealing with text. After some hours of trying all kinds of clicking around and holding down extra keys (the arrow keys help a bit), I'm getting nowhere. I was automatically upgraded to 9.1.1 when I got my new MacBookPro. I was previously on an older version of iPhoto. The description pane in the older version was bigger and much simpler to use (there is spare space on the iPhoto 9.1.1 screen layout, so why did Apple make its description panel so small?). Version 9.1.1 has more editing options, but I haven't yet found a way of using most of them because as you say, it's so difficult to keep selected text active for editing.
I have also tried drafting my descriptions inside Word first and then pasting them into iPhoto. They paste OK but the pasted text is black (as in Word) - but against the near-black of the iPhoto description pane, it's almost invisible! I thought I could then change the pasted text colour in iPhoto to white (on black) by using 'colours' from inside the description-editing options of iPhoto, but for the above reasons, I can't find any way of doing that.
There seems to be no direct help for these problems in iPhoto Help. Has anyone out there worked out what the select-and-edit routines should be? If not, I just hope Apple will solve these things in the next upgrade, or at the very least give us a bigger text pane.

  • HT1040 iphoto text formatting is lost

in iphoto - when i export, try to order, or close and reopen the app it loses formatting on some of the text boxes.  not all.  just some.  and even when 2 boxes are used, some pages the top stays and the bottom reformats. what's the deal?

First try  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If there is no change launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos, make a test book and check to see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't then your current library is the culprit.
In that case make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • No sound on YouTube or text alerts since ios8

I get no sound from YouTube when clicking from links in Facebook or emails.
Text alert tones also stop working randomly and it won't play alert tones in sounds settings. Ring tones are fine and I'm not using custom tones.
Sure a reboot fixes it temporarily but it stops working again after a few messages.
Any one else having this trouble?

    Hi,
Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums.
Did it work before? When did this issue begin to occur? If it works before, system restore can be under consideration.
Please go into Internet Options>Advanced tab scroll down to Multimedia and make sure that "Play sounds in web pages" is check, click Apply/OK.
If it is already checked, uncheck it, click Apply/OK then go back and recheck it, click Apply/OK.
Meanwhile, does the sound work in the following website?
    http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/windows-7/videos-tours.aspx
Meanwhile, it seems you have two output devices, please go to control panel-> sound->under playback tab, set the other device as default to test
    the issue.
    Best Regards

  • Lost WP Text = Recovery Possible?

I've lost text in an AppleWorks Word Processing file. Here's what happened:
I opened a new file, gave it a name, and saved it to my desktop.
I wrote and perodically saved my work from the keyboard using Command-S.
While the document was open, I then changed the file name by clicking on the desktop icon and typing a new name.
Clicking back in the document I saw the new name replace the old one and continued typing.
I typed several thousand words saving as I went along.
I then quit and shut down my computer.
Several hours later I started the computer and double clicked on the desktop icon.
The file opened to the place where I made the name change. The added text, after the name change, was gone.
    Is this text recoverable?
All this work was done on an iBook G3 running MacOS 10.4.6, AppleWorks version 6.2.7
Thank you for your assistance. - Fabe

    Is this text recoverable?
You did one of two things while this file was open in AppleWorks, renamed the file in the Finder or moved the File in the Finder, that will "break" AppleWorks' connection to the file. Unless you had a program running in the background that records keyboard input, I'm afraid your work is lost & you will have to re-do it. There are two user tips dealing with this:
Dale Gillard - Document content not saved
Vic Menard - AppleWorks fails to save properly

I have a red triangle 'text warning' that indicates'the text doesn't fit into designated area'....OK
I can't seem to get rid of the icon or get my text altered in any way..

To get rid of the warning icon you have to fix the problem. What exactly do you mean that you can not alter your text?

  • Which iphoto app comes with ios8

Which photo app comes with ios 8 ?  Did they get rid of the iPhoto app, light blue with picture of palm trees?  The only photo app on my iphone is the app with white background and colorful flower petals.

Did they get rid of the iPhoto app, light blue with picture of palm trees?
    Yes, that is gone.
iPhoto is not compatible with iOS 8. You can migrate your photos to the new, improved Photos.app.
But it will be a lossy migration - no books or journals are supported any longer.

  • Next Adventure - Text Recovery!

Here is my next journey  that I hope someone can help we with!!
I recently began using my I-phone 4 for business and have lost some text messages that were somewhat important!  I went back with Time Machine and restored ALL the back-ups that encompassed the time-frame I was interested in -  ***But, what happens if I delete texts BEFORE I synch and back-up.  Basically, I have "holes" in the record. I called AT&T and they said there is no way to recover these. However, I have seen some users here and there, and third party apps. etc that indicate it can be done?!  Some ideas were more complex than others - jailbreaking, etc.,  and many did not really ensure they would work.  I've gotten a few messages from people saying to try this or that, or they know someone who tried something, but has anyone had any first hand experience with a specific utility they might want to share?! If it cannot be done - then it cannot be done (I shouldn't have deleted them!) I appreciate the help!
    Thanks
    TL

Trying to get them back isn't impossible, but it's a real mess. You would have to restore from a backup made when they were last present on the phone. If you deleted them in between one backup and the next, they are gone forever.
In the future, if the message is something important you need to keep for reference, copy and paste it into a memo.
If you tend to use your phone for business as well as personal use (I do) you may want to look into Google Voice.
It provides a separate phone number that will ring through to your phone and handles SMS messages as well. There is a free app and several paid ones to interact with the service from the phone for messages and phone calls.
You can set time restrictions on when calls are permitted to ring through and even have it ring multiple phones at the same time and transfer calls between them.
Also keeps your business contacts from getting your personal number.
