HT201401 Apps aren't appearing on the homepage

I upgraded to the latest software version and now some of my apps are no longer on my homepage. They appear as downloaded in my Apple Store as OPEN but I can't more them to my homepage for easy access.

Figured it out, all my apps just got pushed to another homepage.

My events on the iPad iCal app aren't shown in the year view if they are more than two years in the future even though I can see them on the month, week and day view. Any suggestions on how to fix it? I've tried it all. I called the apple support and they checked on their iPads. They all did the same and they couldn't help me. They suggested trying this way. I'd like to be able to plan a few years ahead and the year view would make thing so easy!

Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.
Then reboot your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.

I'm trying to delete some recently downloaded apps that don't work. They are faded grey and although they shake with the other apps, no cross appears in the top corner. Any ideas anyone? Thanks, Sean

I have the same issue witha slight variation. The app icons that are grayed out and cannot be deleted are DUPLICATES of other apps that I already have. For instance I now have 2 Redbox apps - one works normally, the other cannot be opened or deleted.

Is possible to make the bookmarks bar only appear on the homepage?

I was just wondering if it was possible, with or without an add-on, if i could make it so that the bookmarks bar only appears on the homepage.

I have the bar under the adress bar for bookmarks. But i use lots of bookmaks. When i nedd to access them i press the icon you told,and the side bookmaks bar is shown, and is this bookmaks left side bar that i wish to be permanently there.
What happens is that i open it, choose the bookmark to be open and then it disappears...
On Safari, differently from Firefox, when i press the icon it shows a complete page instead of the side bookmaks bar only.

Songs on my iPhone aren't appearing under the correct albums even though in iTunes they are correctly arranged. On my phone instead of the songs showing up in their respective albums as on iTunes they are under one Unknown Album. I have synced but the problem is still there

I am not able to download a charter toolbar it show up as being downloaded but does not appear on the homepage

I have been trying to download a charter toolbar but it does not show up on the homepage along with the other toolbars. When I go to tools it does appear on the add on tab.

How can I control the apps that show up in 'open In' popovers as my favourite old apps no longer appear in the popover?

I have noticed the maximum no of apps that appear in 'Open in' is 10 and more frustratingly, new apps which sharing functions replace my favourite old apps (especially good reader app) in the 'Open In'. Is it possible to determine which apps appear in the 'Open In'?, increase the no? Or at least force my favourite apps to appear there or prevent them from being displaced? The only way I cope now is to delete the least favoured apps with sharing functions in order to allow my favourite apps to appear?

There isn't currently a way to edit or control which apps appear in the 'open in' list apart from deleting (or deleting and reinstalling) apps - you could try leaving feedback and maybe in the future we'll have some sort of control : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

I moved my itunes library to an external hard drive and now I can not update my phone and my apps aren't showing in the sidebar of my library. How can I fix this?

I moved my whole library onto an external hard drive but now when I plug my phone in, it can't back up, it can't update and my apps stopped showing up on the side. It still charges and syncs but I can't update the software. I use a PC. Does anyone know how to fix this?

So is your media folder called iTunes Music or iTunes Media? And does it have a folder called Music inside it?
Before going any further you should first attempt to use File > Library > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder "<Media Folder>" (ignore if grayed out). This will make sure that any iPod Games or Mobile Applications get placed inside the iTunes Media folder which is needed for portability.
If your iTunes Media folder is called iTunes Music, close iTunes, rename the folder as iTunes Media and start iTunes again. iTunes will automatically adjust. Close iTunes again.
On your external drive rearrange the folders that you have already copied there so that they match the layout in your active library. You should end up with a folder called X:\iTunes where X: is the external drive letter, and the media folder is X:\iTunes\iTunes Media. If the library layout was upgraded then you will need to create a Music folder inside this and move all the artist folders and Compilations into Music. You will also need to copy iPod Games and Mobile Applications from your internal drive into the new media folder. Next copy the files iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, sentinel and the folder Album Artwork from the internal drive into X:\iTunes. The preceding manipulations should make the internal and external copies of your library match without you having to copy all of the media over again.
Now hold shift as you start iTunes. Click choose, browse to and open X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.
Finally use File > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate files. This will ensure that any stray files that might have been added from outside your original media folder will be copied into the new one.
You can now reclaim the space used by your library on the internal drive, however before you do so I would advise you to obtain another external drive and make use of this backup tip.

My new ios download for iphone4 lost icons on homepage they are still in the phone but do not appear on the homepage

I downloaded the new ios update and most icons dissappeared form the homepage. They are still in the phone under settings however I am unable to access them or return them to the homepage. Help!

Yo estoy viendo que lo que capturo en el iPhone, si lo manda a iCloud e inclusive aparece en el ipad pero desde hace tiempo en la MAC dice que "Algunos contactos del servidor no se han podido copiar en Agenda" y un simbolito del triangulo con signo admiración, o sea de warning o error.
Acabo de hacer unas pruebas...
Si capturo en iPhone, aparec en iCloud y iPad pero no en MacBook
Si capturo en la MacPro, aparece en iPhone, iPad y obviamente en Macbook
O se ael problema es que lo que llega de otro lado a Icloud, no lo baja a al MacBook!
Alguna sugerencia?

You can re-download apps for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 . If you download them to your computer's iTunes you could then try restoring to your iTunes backup and see if the apps and their old content/settings get copied over.

Check iTunes and see if you have a pending/stalled download e.g. Podcast, Music, Movies or iTune U. Finish off the download and apps should start downloading.
If there are no pending or stalled downloads, sign-out of account, reboot and sign-in again.

Reminders made in the mountain lion app are not appearing in the ios app

I installed mountain lion and the reminders app seems to be misbehaving.
I have icloud enabled on my mac and my iphone.
When I create a reminder on my iphone it shows up on my mac in about 30 seconds but when I make one on my mac it never shows up on my iphone. In addition, I made a new list on my mac and when it also didn't show up on my iphone I made a list on my iphone to test and the list created on my mac dissappeared without a trace when the list created on the iphone came through.
Is anyone else having issues with items syncing in the mountain lion reminders app?

Yep. Looks like the function is down. And only for music. Movies, tv etc. work fine. Hadn't noticed until now since I never use genre as a filter.

I'd like to shorten the name of my app as it appears below the icon once installed on an iPad

I work for a magazine and the name of our app is the same as the name of our magazine. The trouble is that the name is a little long and it gets truncated when it is below the icon on the ios desktop once the app is installed. I'd like to shorten it to an abbreviation that makes more sense that the automatic truncation that is occuring right now. But I'd prefer not to change the name of the app in the itunes store. Is this possible?

App store name and spotlight name on the device should be as nearly similar as practical....but they don't need to be identical
The spotlght name is the bundle display name - use the 'Info' tab in code.
You'll have to update the app to get this done, so use it as a chance for any cleanup, etc.
