HT201401 Black lines running vertically down the screen?

I bought a broken Iphone, and replaced the screen. It had black lines that ran down the scree, and the digitizer was screwy. I figured it was the assembly, and returned it and got a new one. Just put the new one in today, and it does the same thing.

Could be, but I wouldn't be shooting in the dark.
Take it to a small electronics repair shop that specializes in repairing cell phones along with the iPhone to see if they can determine what needs to be replaced.

    Look at your iphoto 'page'.
On the left is a margin running vertically down the page and within that margin are shown your files/folders - e.g 'events', 'last 12 months', 'anniversary' etc etc.
Now visualize the 'page' but WITHOUT the margin and the entries in it. It just disappeared while I was editing photos.
I've tried all the 'File', 'Edit', 'View', 'Share' 'Window' & 'Help' options, but no success.
There is no apparent way of calling up onto the screen any photos, folders etc. because I can't get the margin and its contents back onto the iphoto page.
I've tried restoring the page from my backup, where it is all perfect, but that didn't work.
    Help please!

Move your cursor to the extreme left hand side of the iPhoto Window until it turns into a '+' and then click and drag right.

  • Help  iPhone 5 completely black & white glow in the middle with pink lines vertically down the screen

i got my iphone 5 screen fixed, and since then the screen this is what has happend and I can't use it.

If Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider replaced the screen, bring it back and let them check the phone, repairs are also covered by a short warranty period.
If a 3rd party did replace the screen, you can't bring it to Apple to get it serviced, Apple does not allow others to do repairs on their devices. In that case, those who fixed the screen, have to do something about that.

  • What is the purpose of the black line on top of the screen in the latest version of iBooks for iPhone? It irritates me.

It has been around for a while. Like for the last 2-3 versions of the app.

Could you use the camera icon to post a screenshot here of what you are talking about?
Nobody in these forums represents Apple, so you can't get answers about why apps work the way they do.  But you can ask for changes via

  • There are gray lines running horizontally on my screen. Does warranty cover it?

I have the MacBook Pro Retina from 2014 and recently when I opened my computer I found small gray/black  lines running horizontally on the screen. I researched the issue and apparently the lcd screen is broken. I haven't dropped it and the screen isn't broken. Sometimes they flicker. Anyway what might be the cause, what is it and is it covered in the warranty?

I would think so but the final verdict will be made at the Apple store genius bar.  Make an appointment.

  • Why do I have a thin blue line running down the screen?

There is a thin blue line running vertically down my imac screen a little to the right of the centre. It disappeared for a while - i think after I tapped a certain key - but then re-appeared and will not go away. What is it? How do I get rid of it? Mark

Sounds like a problem with the display. Contact your local Apple Store or AASP and make an appointment to have the display looked at. > Apple - Support - iMac - Service FAQ

  • My ipod has two thin black lines running across the screen. What causes this, and is there a fix?

Suddenly, my Classic ipod got two narrow, black lines runnings horizontally across the screen.  Will thes eventually go away or is the screen damaged?
    Thanks!

You can work through the remaining five 5 R's of troubleshooting.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damage part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • T400s vertical line down the screen - outside of warranty

    Hi
I've had a T400s for just a 2 bit over 2 years now and was always happy with it. I used it mostly with my docking station and have never travelled with it. Now out of the blue one day half the screen was black with a few pixel problems right in the middle with a clear vertical line down the screen. I was perplexed because I was sure no damage whatsoever happened to the notebook.
I googled and it seems to be a common problem:
    A link among others:
"We have about 1200 T400s systems deployed and there has been a higher than normal failure rate with them compared to X301 and T61 systems. Our issues are LCD failure with a vertical line down the screen (very common), Speaker/Audio issues, and DoA systems."
    http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=89101
The problem seems to be known:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-76367
But since the notebook is outside of warranty but it's obviously a manufacturing problem on a (very) expensive notebook, how could I approach Lenovo service center to repair it for me? I have shelled out well over 2'500 Euro for the latest model back then and am a bit disappointed to be honest..
Thanks for any advice on how to approach this!

@tripplec, i don't understand how a Chinese company affects the outcome of the OP's problem? Would IBM do it differently?
Yes, I spent 3 years at a Toronto Bank who bought say 500 systems or so plus notebooks. ThinkPad's and Think Center product. I supported did the warranty work while there. When the warranty was up it was up!! Even if a  lowly optical mouse fail and a number of them did. Too bad nor replacement.
I've delt with IBM, Compaq and HP. There customer relations is entirely at at different level and would and did on  may occasions provide one time post warranty repair even for catestophic issues well after warranty was over. This is a case by case basis. You could reach them and talk to them (locally) and not haveway around the world having no sense of what significance your case it.
There is a difference as was the turn around time  48hrs max and not weeks.

  • HT201401 iphone 5 has a fine line down the screen

my 2 month old iphone 5 has a very fine black line running down the screen ?

I am afraid that this seems like a hardware fault but there are a few things to try.
First of all, if you have a case or any enclosure of any type on your iPhone, I would suggest removing to confirm that this problem is being caused by anything else (which is unlikely but is typical of what someone in an Apple Store will do first).
If the problem is still there, then reset the software on the phone  - Do this by pressing the Sleep and Home button for a while until the screen goes dark and that Apple logo comes up (typically around 10 - 20 seconds). Once this happens, release the buttons and let the iPhone completes its reboot process (typically around 1 minute.  I hope that this sorts out your problem.
If neither of these solves the problem, then I afraid it does rather look like your iPhone does have a faulty screen - take it back to Apple.

  • Satellite M65-S9063 - Vertical white lines appearing down the screen!

    Hi all - any ideas...
Model M65-S9063 Approximately 3 weeks ago a vertical white line appeared down the screen, it's around a mil thick.
Then yesterday a second one has appeared, slightly thinner this time. They're always there even after a reboot! It doesn't look as though any video is being displayed as they're always white. I was wondering graphics card perhaps? Or maybe the LCD itself?
    Anyone seen this before??
    Many thanks,

    Hi!
You can simply determine the reason of this issue. Connect an external monitor the notebook and see what happens.
If you can notice the same error on the external screen, its a problem of the graphic card or display driver. If you dont have this issue on the external screen, you should go to an authorized service provider for exchanging the internal screen.
If you use a non Toshiba display driver you should remove it and test it with original Toshiba drivers.
I hope I could help you a little bit.
    Bye
