Cant get my ringer or other sounds to work. I'm not on airplane mode, nor on silent. I have turned the phone off and tried a hard reset.

If you have tried restart and reset ( nothing "hard" about it, justa reset), then try a restore from backup, then try a restore as new.
If that fails, then you like have a hardware issue.
Make an appointment at the genius bar.

I just reread your message and at first I thought you wanted to get ringtones. Now I think you meant you don't hear sounds unless you are on speakerphone. I would try a Restart to seeif it learns your issue. To Restart Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

On a Mac computer the Facetime ringtone is VERY weak, even with the volume turned up. If you have your audio level adjusted to a normal level you may not hear it. A number of people have complained about it on this Facetime for Mac forum. On my iPad the alert tones when receiving a FT call is much more robust.

Getting the sitar (and other) sounds

I know this is probably rudimentary, but I'm having a heck of a time changing the software instrument sounds on GB 09. I want to use the sitar and I see the sitar in the instrument gallery but getting the sound to work is another story.
GB help has proven fruitless. And I've gone on other help sites that say that Audio Unit that is included with GB called the DLS Music Device will give me options. But when I open the Track info window for a software instrument and scroll down the list of generators and click the DLS Music Device, nothing happens. No options become available to me.
What do I need to do exactly? As in step by step? And am I missing something in my audio library?

I'm hung up on the fact that there's an icon that I can see that shows a sitar.
the icons have no relation to what is included in GB. note there is also a bagpipes icon, and there are no bagpipes included in GB.
I tried earlier to download a Soundfont on a different site but it came up a dud with the file opening in ancient code.

Iphone 4s will ring but other sounds do not work

We have an iPhone that was submerged in water last year. After allowing to dry out completely it now works well. We use it as an iPod since we have replaced this phone. We have been using it on an iHome to play music but I found out today that the ringtones work but no other sounds. Is there a way to fix this?

The problem is likely to be with the dock connector at the bottom of the iphone. It is possible that the iphone thinks that an accessory is plugged-in and its sending audio to that accessory Or it could be the problem with the headphone jack.
1) plug in the headphones and press volume up or down button. It should change the headphone volume and display on screen.
2) unplug the headphones and press the volume up or down button. If the phone still shows that headphone volume is being changed, then you need to clean the headphone jack properly. You can use alcohol or contact cleaner or deodorant with alcohol
If the above is unsucessful, then your dock is the likely cause. Try cleaning it with cotton and alcohol or contact cleaner or deodorant with alcohol and hope for the best. If nothing fixes the phone then there is a short circuit and part needs to be replaced. Also make sure you turn off the phone before doing any cleaning and do not use more than a drop at a time to clean..

If the volume buttons don't work then you can go into settings, general, scroll all the way down to accessibility, click it, turn on assistive touch, go back and a little gray square with a white circle should appear. Click that and then click devices and there should be a volume control there.

i have a lg 7s20 phone dowmloaded Ff..to stream live news wten live stream out of albany ny..it worked for 3 week now i can see video and no sound and a video not found error comes up while playing the video with now sound?..i have done everything that i can think of to try and fix this!..its not the phone its a month old and other streams run and work fine! When the video has focus the sound can be adjusted but if you tap outside the video or pan the screen the focus is removed from the video and adjusting the sound of Flash is prevented.

Had an Iphone 4 for about 3 months now. This happened to the first one I had and they ended up having to replace it at the apple store just a couple weeks ago 6/2. It happened again last night to my new one. This time i was able to correct it by going to itunes, backing up the phone to icloud, and then restoring the software. Mine did not work with voice memo, but did work with headphones plugged in, and would also work on speaker. I could hear callers but they couldn't hear me. I had purchased a new case (lifeproof case at $79.99) because it comes with plugs that cover the headphone jack, and the charging port, and is also waterproof. I heard that the root cause is due to lint, dirt, etc getting inside the headphone jack. Well, must be something else. It's a 10 days old phone, and has been in this overpriced case the whole time, and I have not used the headphones. I hope this doesn't keep happening.
