HT201401 Flickering screen

My iPhone has little coloured lines running through the display and when i unlock the phone it shows up my apps and everything as normal for roughly 2 seconds and then the display fades out to a black screen though while the screen is black i can still navigate across pages and get into apps etc. i just cannot see anything. The only way i can properly do it is unlock the phone and scroll over a page then it fades and lock it, unlock and quickly scroll again before it fades out again. The only time that it does not fade out is if i am in messages or in the calls section, which i have to get into while screen is black then lock and unlock again then it stays. If i am in any other app it will fade out almost instantly, could anyone please tell me what is wrong with my phone?

Sounds like you have a hardware problem since you've done all the standard recommended user troubleshooting steps. Make an appointment at the nearest Genius Bar to have the device evaluated.

  • I have a new l7 macbook pro running snow leopard.  When I try to boot into windows7 32bit, I get either a blue, black, or flickering screen.  Then I have to physically shut down and try again.  At that point it will load correctly.  Any help?

I have a new l7 Macbook Pro running snow leopard.  When I tried to to install windows 7 32 bit on bootcamp, I kept getting a flicking black and blue screen when it tried to install. (Tried several times).  I finally downloaded the bootcamp windows support to a flash.  I inserted that and finally got it installed.  Now when I try to boot into windows I get either a solid black (sometimes blue) or flickering screen and windows will not start up.  If I then physically shut down the mac and restart, it will finally boot into windows where it tells me that windows was shut down unexpectently and once I click start windows normally, it will boot up.  That will generally let me boot into windows for the remaining of the day.  The next day, the same thing happens again.  I have tried reinstalling several times, and the same thing keeps happening.  It is not my windows disk because it installs flawlessly on the mid 2008 macbook pro.  Anyone know how to fix this?

I own HDM 2011. But they have products that aren't listed or hard to find too.

  • Flickering Screen issue after Mavericks update released on Feb 26, 2014

I own a Macbook Retina display bought in early 2014. After installing the recent Maverick update released around Feb 26, 2014 the display developed flickering problem while scrolling and now the scrolling is not smooth any more. The originally shipped machine did not have this problem. I tested other software including Photoshop and the display still flickers while panning the canvas. I also tried resetting the SMC - System Management Controller but it didn't work along with other attempts of resetting the disk permissions, running a systems cleaner, changing the wifi-router etc.
How to fix this flickering screen issue?

The problem came back lately and I tried this solution and it worked. Go to system settings > power saver > and switch off the Automatic Graphic switching. Not sure if this is a good solution, but it seem to have worked for the time being.

  • Why is my mac book pro mid 2012 display green flickering screen?

Why is my mac book pro mid 2012 displays green flickering screen? I was able to return the screen  back to normal after i turn the lid up and down.
Is this a hardware issue ? should i return to applestore since the warranty still valid?

It seems like your display is damaged. As your computer is in warranty, take your Mac to an Apple Store or reseller to get the display replaced for free, as it's in warranty

  • Macbook  flickering screen & freeze, then won't boot pass the apple logo

    Hi Guys,
My macbook is driving me insane now. Just recently, my macbook has occasionally flickering screen and freezes after that. Yesterday, when I was watching youtube on fullscreen, it first has flickering screen, then freezes. So I hard booted it pressing the power button. Then, when I try to restart it, it won't boot pass the apple logo no matter what.
    Here's my macbook spec
    2007 Summer Macbook Pro 15"
    Snow Leopard 10.6 OS X
I cracked my screen once, and got a replacement, don't know if that matters.
    I've tried the following:
Safe mood reboot, the progress bar goes about half, then disappears and stalls again.
Booted in verbose mode but it gives a warning message:
'com.apple.driver. internalmodemsupport declares no kernel dependencies; using com.apple.kernal.6.0'.
Booted in Single user mood, and typed fsck for disk repair. After checking said the volume Macintosh HD appears to be ok. But still won't boot pass the apple logo after restart.
Boot with installation disk pressing C at startup. Success after a few try:
Opened Disk Utility and did disk repair (no problem found).
Reinstalled Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.
This time it booted with Finder and everything for a short while, then the screen flicker and freezes again (before I can backup anything!). Then, I can't reboot pass the apple logo again.
When I try to reinstall Leopard OS X 10.5 with installation disk, the macbook seems to try to read the disk, but won't boot. I've got a CD stuck in the optical drive now.
I've tried everything I can find online short of opening it up and send it into the oven for baking! I pray it's not a hardware problem, coz I'm no good at that. (QAQ~~~) Please help me!
Thank you very, very, very much!!!
ps. this is my first post. please let me know if I have missed anything.

Reboot the machine holding the trackpad or left wired mouse button down, that shoudl force eject the 10.5 disk.
Reinstalled Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.

Ok, so your attempting data recovery efforts.
First get the 10.5 disk out of the machine, like above.
You can also boot into Single User mode, (command s at reboot) and enter
    /usr/bin/drutil eject
    then type
    restart
Next hold c boot and use the 10.6 disk and create a data recovery drive here on a blank external drive, make sure you clean and polish the bottom of the 10.6 disk, if it's bad you will need to get a new one.
Create a data recovery, undelete boot drive
If your problems continue on this drive even with a clean or new 10.6 disk, it's likely a hardware issue with your Mac, not a issue with the drive.
I suspect a failing sector on your internal boot drive, you installed OS X right over the same spot perhaps, as you were obviously able to boot from the 10.6 disk to install it so it seems the hardware of the Mac appears to be working.
You might have other issues relateing to software perhaps, something your installing or running.
Step by Step to fix your Mac
Once you have gotten your files off the internal drive, you may want to look into doing a Zero Erase with Disk Utility before resintalling 10.6 again fresh install method.
Reducing bad sectors effect on hard drives
How to erase and install Snow Leopard 10.6
Look into making a bootable clone, it's easier to restore with and more options than Timemachine

  • Solution: Flickering Screen or UI Elements in Mavericks

Lots of threads and videos about flickering screens and UI elements in apps, especially with multiple displays going around. Various solutions from clean install, clean install with time machine backup, installing AutoCAD 360 (?!? LOL), and using SwitchResX to tweak your refresh rate have been reported as various fixes, at least temporarily.
I already own SwitchResX, because it still allows me to shift between thousands/millions/billions of colors, which the Mac OS X Display Prefs used to offer once upon a time but is now missing.
Simply toggling color count fixes the flickering, at least through a reboot. Since my Mac Pro is typically going 24/7 unless I'm swapping out hardware, it is more or less a permanent fix for me.
While Apple needs to fix this bug, $10 will both save your sanity in the meantime, while supporting an awesome independent Mac developer.
Interested in feedback from others if the toggling solution works for you.
    Cheers

    Hi,
your adobe form must be dynamic for this functionality. If you use WebDynpro Java, you must insert the following code to wdDomodfiyView() :
      if(firstTime) {
        IWDInteractiveForm iForm = (IWDInteractiveForm)view.getElement("YOUR INTERATIVE FORM");
        iForm.setDynamicPDF(true);

  • Lumia 920 Flickering Screen

I replaced my Lumia 925 because it has Screen Splotches, I decided to upgrade it to Lumia 920 last 2 days ago, but it has a Flickering Screen. My question is, is this normal? Whenever I browse pictures and it is on brighter background the flickering screen got worst. Why is that?

    hi mate,
have you ensured that your phone is up to date with firmware updates, and also that you are up to date with all the latest Nokia system apps? also try performing a soft reset. if that does not work, then you may need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for inspection.

  • Iphone 6 water damage flickering screen

My iphone 6 vibrated off the edge of my counter when someone called me and into the dogs water dish on the ground below. It sat in the water for 45 minutes, until I noticed it. It was still turned on so I shut down all the apps and i turned it off immediately. Wiped down and took it to my nearest apple store where they took the phone apart and said it was covered in liquid and tried to sell me a new iphone6 for $299. I came home and let it sit in a bag of rice for 48 hours. I just took it out of the rice now and turned it on. To my joy everything seemed to be working as usual but the screen seemed to have a haze and cloudy appearance. Up pops my home screen and it is very hard to see the screen and it is flickering and flashing. I freaked out and turned the phone off and put it right back in the rice. Does anyone have any helpful tips on what I could possibly do if I let the phone sit in the rice for another 48 hours and I turn the phone on, and it still is flickering screen? Is the screen able to be fixed? Everything seemed to be working beautifully except that flashing, hazy screen. Any help/tips are GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance

Forty-eight hours is not really enough time to let it dry properly. Turning it own might have done more damage. It should be noted that, even if you leave the phone in rice for a week, there's no guarantee that it will ever work properly again. At this point, your best bet is to go back and get the out-of-warranty replacement.

  • GE700 flickering screen

    Hi all
I recently got a GE700 which comes with the ATI 5730 graphic card. I noticed that the screen flickers periodically, maybe about once every hour or two. I did the live update on the MSI website for the latest drivers but the flickering screen still happens. Is there another simple solution I can perform or would it be better to take it the the MSI service center? I am just concerned that since flickering doesn't happen often....they might say nothing is wrong with the unit.
    Appreciate any advice on this.
    Cheers

  • Yoga Tablet 2 Windows 8 will not boot up, stuck at a flickering screen

I was installing Lenovo's firmware updates from their page for my device and in the middle of installing the BYT Platform Drivers for Windows 8.1, the tablet started went black.  Then it went into some kind of flickering screen like it was trying to turn on and off.  I left it alone and the next morning it was working fine.  But when I came back in the evening, it was completely turned off again.  I tried to turn it on, got the Lenovo logo, then it went into flickering on/off again.  It still will not boot up.  Any suggestions?? MICROSOFT should be ashamed that a feature that WORKED with WIN 7 was not brought forward to WIN 8 Installation Disk. Those that don't have one, borrow one (Using repair should not infringe any rules)

  • H55M-E33 (1.3 bios), i3-530 - freeze with flickering screen

    Hi everyone.
    My setup is:
     - MSI H55M-E33 motherboard (bios version 1.3)
     - Intel i3 - 530 CPU
     - no other graphic card, using the one integrated in the CPU.
     - 2x2GB DDR3 Patriot memory (666MHz, CL9)
     - Samsung SATA (320GB, 7200rpm) HDD
     - ATA LG DVD Drive
     - LG LCD Display, connected via DVI
     - 450W eurocase PSU (22A on 12V)
     - Windows 7 32bit
The problem is that the PC freezes unexpectedly, with a flickering screen (flickering colorful rectangle rows aligned in 4 or 5 vertical bars). Only hard restart helps in such case. The trouble is that this happens only rarely (about 5 times total during 10 days since I got the PC).
First time it happened was after a bios update (1.1 -> 1.3, via liveupdate utility) when the computer restarted after, as it stated, a successful bios update. I though the update failed, but after I turned the PC on again, everything was just fine. Next time it happened while playing with Google Maps, so i suspected my PSU, which was then only 300W and only 20 pin. I bought a new 450W one and thought the problem is history, but today it happened again while just working with Adobe Reader and OpenOffice.
The CPU and all other parts are well cooled (the CPU temperature rarely crosses the 40°C value).
What would you recommend to do? A bios downgrade?

Well, I did some testing, maybe it's too soon to make a conclusion, but the problem seems to occur only when the RAM modules are in Dual Channel mode.
    Tests I did:
    - Only the first RAM module in DIMM1 - no problems.
    - Only the second RAM module in DIMM1 - no problems.
    - Swapped - second RAM module in DIMM1 and the first one in DIMM3 (dual channel) - same flickering screen freeze at same circumstances.
    - Both RAM modules installed in DIMM1 and DIMM2 (no dual channel) - no problems so far
Those RAM modules were bought as a kit of 2 modules for dual channel.
So far the system is stable I'm satisfied, but I regret the memory performance loss.

  • 13.3" macbook pro flickering screen when waking from sleep

I have a Mid 2012 13.3" MacBook Pro (non-Retina) laptop that has been working well, until the last few days.  The laptop has had no physical damage and no liquid damage.  I have put the laptop to sleep by closing the lid.  When the laptop lid is raised and the laptop turns on this last week I have noticed that the screen flickers and then appears to be on, but the screen is a grey color.  I have been able to press the power button to put the computer back to sleep.  Usually when pressing the power button to wake it from sleep the screen issues have cleared up.
Is there a known issue that may cause the issue with the flickering/grey screen or could there be a short in the wiring that powers the screen?

    Hey there Oregan Mac User,
It sounds like you are getting screen flickers when trying to wake your device from sleep. I recommend the troubleshooting form the article named:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1573
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,

  • 2014 X1 Carbon Flickering Screen

Just received my new X1 model#  20a70037-US last week and right out of the box the screen was already flickering. When the laptop is booting up in the POST screen you see a bunch of little white dots all over and as soon as you get to the windows login screen the flickering begins. Just like on this video I found online
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEexUDtava0
Did anyone have this issue? I uninstalled the Intel drivers and now it's flickers less and the laptop is somewhat usable. I should be recieving my replacement unit this week, can't wait to have this laptop working 100%.

  • Flickering Screen and Lack of Full Screen Support, Flickering Screen and Lack of Full Screen Support

    Hi,
I ran into a few things related to using my Bootcamp MacBook Pro 15” 2011 that I purchased 2012Mar. Having issues on the Mac side, with an external monitor. I bought a ViewSonic VX2753mh LED monitor, hooked it up to my laptop, started in Mac OS and seemed to be going good, able to get 1080p, 1920x1080 res on the monitor even though the 2011 MacBook doesn’t have that resolution on the actual attached screen. BUT, the Viewsonic started to intermittently turn off and back on, in addition when I tried to play a movie (or even a slideshow) in full screen (not mirrored), so that I could surf and watch the movie or slideshow, the full screen version of either would be placed back on my laptop screen while the external monitor had a generic grey with vertical lines screensaver pop up, or vica versa. If I played the movie in a small screen it was ok. Have heard a lot of issues with “flickering”. As for the application situation, maybe that’s something I don’t know about yet since I’m new to Mac. Can I play something like slideshow or a movie in full screen on an external monitor while I surf or type on the laptop monitor? Any ideas on either issue?
    Thanks in advance !!!

Ok, so I solved my full screen problem with VLC, both slideshows of my pics running full screen on external moniter while I work on laptop, and with movies, still getting my external monitor flickering on and off, other threads stop around May, is there anything new ?
