HT201401 iphone 4 is slow

Ever since I updated my phone to ios6 it is terribly slow, any ideas how to speed it up I have closed all the Apps running in the backround and got rid of Apps that I don't use and still slow

A reset worked!  Speed seems about normal.  Good idea KT, thanks!
For those of you that might not know: to reset, hold the select button and the power button down until slider comes up, then keep holding it until screen goes dark again - then hold down power until you get an apple.

  • Why is my iPhone is slow, laggy, unresponsive.

How come my iPhone has slow texting, sometimes unresponsive touch screen interface, slow OS and occasional freezes. Sometimes when I start an application it freezes and a little static happens and then the Apple logo pops up and it's all normal after like 30 seconds. I am trying to reset it and crap and can someone give me an explanation. Also, when does the next firmware update come out, it's been at 2.0 for a while and I want them to fix some of these issues that I presume everyone has been experiencing thus far.

I too am experiencing these problems with safari tending to crash about 10 times a day. More frustrating and something that needs to be cured as a matter of urgency is the text lag that happens at least 2-3 times day, this is a serious issue with the iPhone 3g that renders the basic functions of the phone inoperable. There is nothing worse than typing a paragraph into a forum such as this and have to watch characters appear 2-3 seconds after they were typed, then to hit backspace once only to have to sit and watch while your phone freezes you out and proceeds to delete every word you've typed and subsequently crash out of safari again. The touch steen keyboard is paramount to iPhones sucess as you have no alternative but to use it. Apple needs to get the finger out and fix whatever ram issue is causing this lag, and quickly. I have seen reports of this issue on other forums aswell

  • Do deleted iphone apps slow down the iphone?

Do deleted iphone apps slow down the iphone?
When I delete an app off my iPhone 4s, does the cookie or "what ever is left of it" slow down the iPhone at all?
    Thanks

No. Apps are all self-contained, so nothing will be left after you delete an app. And even if you leave the app on the iPhone, unless it's running it doesn't slow down your iPod.
This is the iPod touch forum, by the way. Just FYI for future questions.
    Regards.

  • My iphone got slow on keyboard after upgrade...  Any hints ?  Tia .

    Hi team
my iphone got slow on keyboard after upgrade...  Any hints ?  Tia .

No, I have not done a restore with no backup but I'll try (when my job will let me some time to spend for myself).
Contacts, music, calendars etc. work fine (I don't have pictures on my iPhone) but everything "feels" slow and intermittent.
I'll let you know about the complete initialization.
    cheers

  • Iphone 3G Slow After Upgrade to OS 4

After upgrading to OS 4, my IPhone is slow as molasses. I'm so frustrated. I can't believe Apple done nothing about this yet. It takes 10-12 seconds just to get into text mode from any other application. When I often type, it takes several seconds for the phone to catch up. Looks like others had had the same experience. I hope Apple is listening. I'm an Apple devotee but this experience is frustrating me.... Anyone found a solution??

    Welcome to the discussions,
Apple is not listening, this is a user to user forum. Some people solved the problem by restoring "as new iPhone" without using the backup made prior to the upgrade when running 3.x firmware.
Since I "handed down" my 3G, I did the same and experienced no big difference in the performance after that.

  • IOS 7 iPhone 4 slow to refresh/update data

Apps like Weather, Email, and Notifications seem to have slowed down in updating/refreshing data.  When I check notification center, the weather data is usually hours old.  If I open the weather app it also has the older data but quickly refreshes.  If I go back to Notification Center, it takes several more minutes to update.  If I read emails on another device, they are still marked an unread on iPhone until I open the app or manually refresh.  Anyone else having these issues?  Could it be just that the servers are so stressed from upgrades that some push notifications have slowed down?
    Before you ask, current settings:
Backgroud App Refresh: On (enabled for weather)
Location Services: ON (enabled for weather)
Notifications:  All services enabled in Today View
Mail - Fetch New Data: Push
If email is not a Push account, set to Fetch Every 15 Minutes

    Figured it out.
The photos that I thought were on the phone where in the cloud, so there wasnt actually a photo folder created yet in the camera.
Took a picture, reconnected phone and viola, there it was.

  • IPhone 5 Slow After iOS 8 Update

Just like many Apple users I was eagerly awaiting the newest software update from Apple's iOS. I've owned several Apple products in the past and every update has worked perfectly fine. I take care of my electronics and am very careful with my memory usage, so I am able to get the best performance and very little decay with usage. As most users know and expect, our beloved computers tend to "slow down" with time. Sadly this wasn't the case with iOS 8. I know that my iPhone is in optimal performance because due to some hardware issue Apple gave me a NEW PHONE a week before the new software update came out. My older iPhone 5 was working great and had almost no issues regarding software before I turned it in, once I got the new one everything ran just as fluid and even better! I was excited to download the new iOS. I was so careful I even updated my iOS through my Macbook because I didn't want to risk losing any of the precious memory on my portable device. Sadly ever since I downloaded iOS 8 and installed it onto my phone I have had nothing but issues. My phone is laggy and freezes with certain tasks. I have noticed a significant drop in performance ever since the update. This shocked me because Apple updates are usually pretty good. Apple computers know how to "take care" of themselves for the most part. That is why the updates were so important. I can't wait to get an update from Apple addressing all these performance issues, because quite frankly guys... your iOS 8 performs just like what one would expect from a BETA version. At least on the iPhone 5.
I have been an Apple fan for a while and have purchased Apple products because of their reliability. Not just because of the precious items and care that goes into each hardware, but because of the elements that makes Apple unique. You're UI used to leave me without a complaint. It always has been something to brag about and not only with my phone, but also with my Macbook. Each update had something better. It's innovative and simple, beautiful, and user friendly. Sadly this is the only time I've been let down by Apple. I wish I could go back to iOS 7, because clearly the new iOS is not ready... Hope you guys come out with an update soon.
I don't pretend to know everything about computers, but I do understand how most of them work. Also I know that with effort I could go back to iOS 7 on my phone, but in all honesty I don't want to because I'm not the type to go back once something "better" and newer is released. I expect more from Apple in the new future.
FYI I'm posting this mainly for Apple to take notice of my discontent and also as user feedback for them to keep improving and hopefully have some impact with future products that Apple comes out with.

Thanks for the quick response ,
it did help alot and now the iphone works much much better and faster.
can you please try to figure out how to fix the messages search so it work fine
its give me now result maximum up to 3 days old
    thanks friend

  • IPhone 4 slow after updating to iOS 5.1

I have a 32GB iPhone 4 with about 2GB free and recently updated to iOS 5.1.  It has become noticeably slower since updating it.  There are some short delays with certain apps, some have become jerky and the Home button isn't as sensetive as it used to be.  But the worst part is the camera and the photos app.  The camera takes FOOOOOOOOOREVERRRRRRRRRRRRRR to load before it's ready to take a picture, and switching to video takes even longer. I've waited up to a minute before either one is ready for use and sometimes have to wait 10 seconds between shots! Also the Photos app has become really buggy and will sometimes crash, especially if I try to edit a picture.  This is not cool.  I've tried turning the phone off and on.  I've tried resetting it (Home+Power buttons).  Next I'm ready to try throwing it in a bucket of water to see if that might work.  Any tips before I do that?

Try restoring as a new phone and seeing whether the launch time of Camera improves. If it does not, then restore the backup and take it to an Apple Store for replacement.

  • My iPhone is slower after it upgraded.

After I upgraded my iPhone 3Gs to iOS 4.3.4, the phone is slower and mostly it bounces off when I try to open some Apps. I am not happy about it.
Is there any way to downgrade iPhone version?
Or is there any way to solve this problem? For example, restoring the iPhone?

    Hi,
No supported way to Downgrade... But...
If you are having Problems... Restore the Phone...
First try a Restore from Backup... If you are still having Issues after that... Then Restore as New...

  • Why is transferring music onto iphone really slow?

for a couple of updates now the moving of music onto ipods/iphones has been really slow, sometimes it adds to the device but remains blacked out on iTunes or sometimes it says complete but hasn't added to the device ?!
what happened to the simple drag and drop? iTunes got so fancy it no longer does the job it was meant to!!

It depends on where you download them from; I have plenty of jazz in Podcast.

  • Is the performance of iOS 6 on iPhone 4 slower than iOS 5?

Is the performance of iOS 6 slower than iOS 5 on iPhone 4 (GSM) ?

I haven't upgraded after a visit to my local Apple store. On playing with the iPhone 5, I found Safari to be very slow so I logged on to their wifi on my 4s running 5.1.1 and loaded the same uncashed webpage on both. iPhone 5 18 seconds and my 4s 8.5!
Hmm, I then tried the same with 2 other 5s, exactly the same. Next I tried a demo 4s running 5.1.1 and it was he same as mine.
Lastly, today I tried a friend's 4s  running ios6 and it was way slower than the iPhone 5s in the Apple store.
Conclusion? Keep away from ios 6 for now.

  • Is your iphone 5 slow?

I went to the Apple store because my new iphone 5 was super slow and I couldn't connect to internet. The did the following. ##update#send on the keypad. AND/OR go into settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings. I did the Reset 2 times and then it worked.

This is really disheartening to hear. I just moved to LA from Connecticut and I have AT&T. It wasn't amazing service in CT but it's REALLY bad here in LA. I'm having the same issues with AT&T you just described (I have the iPhone 5 on AT&T).
I kept hearing from people I work with that Verizon is the carrier to have out here so I actually ordered an iPhone 5 with Verizon that I'm so anxious to get. I'll be ticked if the speeds I get are what you're describing - I would stick with AT&T if that were the case. I'll have to update once i get my VZW iPhone (was just charged Friday so hopefully soon!)
