  • Ipad Air Turns Off

I have an iPad Air that I purchased last weekend.  I also bought the smartcase.   I noticed that when I closed the case and went to bed.  The next morning, I could not get the iPad Air to start.  I ended up having to hold the sleep/wake button and the home button simultaneously for about 10 seconds before the apple logo would appear.  And then I could procede after typing in my passcode.    The next day, I noticed this happed after less than a hour of activity when the case was closed.   Why does the unit shut off?  Under general settings I have auto-lock set to "Never" and Passcode Lock set to "After 5 minutes".   The passcode lock seems to work fine when I am actively using it.
My apple store is an hour away so I would hate to bring it back, if I am doing something wrong. I am a new iPad user.

    Hey there biskets,
It sounds like your iPad is turning off unexpectedly and the Apple symbol has some graphics issues. I would start by resetting the iPad:
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

Try a restore. If that does not work, you probably have a hardware issue.

  • Device turns off unexpectedly and does not respond

Just got my iPhone yesterday and originally it took over an hour to turn on. I was able to get it on at one point and go through the activation and syncing process. The phone turned off unexpectedly once the next morning and took over an hour to turn back on, only after plugging it into the computer and then unplugging it. Restoring it was not possible. It turned off again and I was able to boot it up withing an hour. Then now it turned off again and I haven't been able to turn it back on for over 5 hours. Help!

  • My iPad Mini turned off randomly and wont turn back on.

I was using my iPad for games during school and it just flashed a blue screen and turned off. I turned it back on and it worked for a couple minutes then the screen started doing weird things and popping up with random thin black lines. It has turnbed back on a couple times after that and it just does the same thing. I have tried resetting it by holding the home and lock button, and I would try and reset it through iTunes but it also won't connect to my computer. There is no physical damage on the device. I have only had it for a couple weeks. It has never been dropped or missused.

  • Help. Ipod Turns Off Randomly And Freezes!?

My Ipod will randomly turn off sometimes, quite often actually. It turns off and I can't turn it back on unless I plug it into a computer. Then it will turn on but it will say Please Wait. Very Low Battery. Then I have to play around with it by plugging and unplugging it until it turns on and the ironic part is that once it turns on it is almost full battery? I really don't know how to fix this?

I suggest bringing it to a local apple store that has a genius bar or calling apple technical support to see if they can help you out. It might be a well known problem that they'll fix for free, or you might have to pay to get it fixed.

  • How do I turn on home share on iPad air. I don't see the option when opening iTunes app

I have a new iPad air.  Bought the Apple TV box too. When I open the iTunes App Store I don't see any options to activate home share. All I see are all the usual options i.e. order movies, music, etc.  Frustrated.

  • I phone turns off unexpectantly and then restarts

after a few minutes of being switched on the iphone 3gs turns itself off and then restarts.  I have tried to update the software but there are no updates at the moment.  I attempted to reset the phone but in the process it again turned itself off.  It has had a full battery when it has done this.

You probably have to put it in recovery mode and restore it, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.

  • Ipad keeps turning off and no sound

ipad keeps turning off apps and going back to main screen.  the volume is turned up but no sound

For the apps crashing try this ....Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • My iphone 4 switches off unexpectedly and does not charge properly every time

My iphone 4 turns off unexpectedly and does not charge properly every time. Can anyone help

    Hey bigstu29,
Thanks for the question. To completely isolate the issue, you may want to follow these steps:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
    - Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
    - Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion.
    Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
    - Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
    - After at least 15 minutes, if:
                   - The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
                   - The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
                   - Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
    - If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
                   - If the display turns on, go to step 4.
                   - If the display remains black, go to next step.
    - Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to
restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
    - If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • My IMac  version 10.6.8 with Intel core duo beeps and turns off unexpectedly in both Mac and Windows mode. How do I fix this?

My IMac turns off unexpectedly in both Mac & Windows mode.  I've repaired disc and permissions using the Snow Leopard install disk and cleared the cache without help.  Any ideas how to prevent this?

The HAT test detected no problems.  Perhaps one of the peripherals, e.g., the backup disk, is causing the problem.  I'll try to run the MAC without peripherals for a few days and see what happens, unless you have other suggestions.
    Thanks
