HT201406 My iPod 2ndG wont respond to my touch.... HELP !

My iPod 2ndG wont respond to my touch . . sometimes it works & then other times it wont . HELPPP !!!!

Try the following:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod screen wont respond to touch

My ipod was working just fine last night, then today I tried to listen to it and the screen wont swipe to unlock or anything.... What do I do? I've rebooted, restored it, everything, but it wont respond to touch.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • Sad faced iPod icon on my iPod. Wont respond

This morning, my mom left my iPod out in the cold >:(
When I tried to use it, I can hear it trying to start up but then a ticking sound comes on. Sort of like a clock. tic toc tic toc
And then an icon appears on the screen of an iPod with a sad face and under it there is the url for iPod support.
When I plug the iPod into my computer, it'll show the battery charge as a quarter full but it wont move from there. And it wont connect into iTunes.
I've tried resetting but that doesn't get me anywhere.
Does anybody know what could be the problem and what to do?

If it was just sitting in the cold, not moving, then this suggestion should work:
Take the iPod, and hold it so that you see the screen and click wheel. Then, not very hard but with some "umph", hit the ride side of the iPod a few times. The idea behind this trick is that the arm and head inside the hard drive are unaligned, causing the iPod to not be able to read from the hard drive disc properly, thus not being able to load the iPod firmware, thus not being able to boot (and you getting the sad face icon).
Try this a few times, and if it didn't help, try the tips in Mitch's Comprehensive Guide to Sad Face/Folder Icons

  • Ipod freezes, wont respond to anything

my fifth generation ipod classic freezes when i plug it into my computer on the screen it says do not disconnect, it dosent respond to unplugging it or plugging it back in, pushing any buttons is useless. i usually have to wait until the battery runs out and plug it into my computer, then it will work. is there any way to make it stop?

I have the same ipod and it does not accept more than 850 megs of music. I use the usb to connect and it will not keep the music if I try to put more than that on there. It just disapears. I have tried the 5r's and used to different usb cables. I have reformatted the hd in it and restored it. I also downloaded the latest Itune today and had the same issue still. I have access to a newer IPOD and was able to to put my whole libary on it. Any help would be appriceated.

    Hey there kytarheel71,
It sounds like your iPod classic is acting unexpectedly. I recommend using the following article to help troubleshoot the device:

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen wont respond to anything - please help

I was deleting a lot of stuff from my iPod 4th generation and suddenly it froze for a sec so I held down the menu and sleep/wake button to reset it. After I reset it it has been stuck on this black screen since last night. I tried connecting it to iTunes and it wont show that its connected to iTunes. I've tried resetting it again, holding down the sleep/wake button. Nothing is working /: What can I do to get it to work again? Please and thank you

Yes, I tried that. When I did this, my iPod screen remained black, no Apple Logo or anything. Nor did my iPod come up on iTunes, like usually it shows up on the right hand corner with my iPods name, it didn't show up. What should I do?

  • I dropped my ipod in water and now the screen wont respond to my touch, would resetting it make it work again?

I can still see everything and it's charging but I read somewhere that if I reset it that it would work again but I'm not sure if that is true and I don't know how to reset it

That happened to my mom's phone. but she dropped it in tea:( If I were you, the best bet would be to put it in a bowl of rice, so that it is covered, and leave it there for a few days. The rice will hopefully soak up all of the water that's in your iPod. Hope this helps!

The iPod does not need to be turned off to reset it. Here are the instructions for resetting the ipod. If this fails to do the trick you may want to try and do a restore.
