after updating my iphone it's locked on my vodafone network , what can i do now ??If your iPhone locked when being upgraded, it was almost certainly jailbroken to remove the original carrier lock,and upgrading iOS has now removed that hack. Only the carrier to whom the iPhone was originally locked can authorize permanent unlocking, though the jailbreak may have rendered such unlocking now impossible.

How to stop your iPhone from recording you
There are 3 ways:
- Apple does it for everyone (likely very soon)
- Remove your battery (Hmmm, but how? It's built-in. Exactly, hmmm is the right word. The only way to properly disarm any device is to spray liquid nitrogen to freeze the battery rendering the device dead. (DON'T do it - it will kill your iPhone!)
- by using a GPS simulator to output fake signals indicating any time/location you desire. Also known as a GPS jammer. (least likely since it's illegal unless you're for example Jason Bourne, they are also very expensive and used by various militaries around the world). There are two frequencies that GPS work on: public, non-military use (1575.42 MHz) and one used only the US military (1227.6 MHz). Because GPS uses radio waves, these waves can be jammed, though very expensive technical devices and expertise are needed for this purpose. Again, these are illegal to own by any civilian but it does not mean we cannot talk about their existence.

- Stop freaking out, use a case with a built-in clip and attach it to your belt/jeans/etc. Safeguard it and always be aware of it and treat it as if it was your passport or something else or high value.

This means when you backed up your device you clicked encrypt backup... That means you need a password to unlock the backup and restore to it. Call apple support for help if you forgot your password.

The normal process is to request the unlock with the carrier. They process it and pass it on to Apple to be applied to the Apple's iPhone database. The carrier would then inform you when Apple has provisioned the unlock, and you would restore your iPhone as a new device in iTunes to apply the unlock (you would get a message at the end of that restore as new in iTunes indicating the unlock was successfully applied). You could then restore your iPhone from backup to get everything back as it was.
However, for some carriers, you seem to beed to complete the iTunes restore from within the country where they provide service. Regardless, have you tried restoring as new in iTunes to see if it processes any provisioned unlock request? Just be sure to backup the iPhone first, before restoring as new.
