why is my iphone 5 having network and battery problems after the ios 6.1.2?

I also forgot to mention that when it did have power, it wouldn't let me shut it off to try and conserve the battery life. Right when it powered down it would power right back up.

  • 8700r network and software problems

Is anybody else experiencing network and s/w problems with their 8700 series?  It's June 2008 so I accept that my 8700r handset is 18-24 mths old but in the past 2 months I've had the following problems:
    - screen reads "You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication" or screens time out before refreshing even though i'm downtown, towers all around me, and the antenna is on
    -  my facebook app didn't work for 2 months, showed as a blank screen, and has only this week started working again (i'm guessing they released a new version that didn't support the 8700r at first so i had to wait for a patch)
    - unit just shuts itself off then comes back on seconds later
    Is there a s/w upgrade I'm missing?

Its possible that your device is slowly failing. I would try backing up your BlackBerry and performing a wipe. Finally restore your data or reactivate. To wipe your BlackBerry go to Options > Security Options > General Settings. Press the scroll wheel and select Wipe Handheld. This will delete all personal data but leave any installed applications. If that doesn't work you could try reloading the OS. If that also fails they you probably need to get a replacement.

  • Windows 7 user account network and administration problem

    Hello
I hope I am in the correct place and that my problem can be looked at, if not could I ask the moderator to move this post to the correct forum.
I have a very unusual problem that I hope can be resolved here.
I have 3 x Win 7 machines ( 2 x Pro and 1 x Ultimate ) all on my network but recently I tried to SFTP/SSH using winscp into one of them ( Pro ) only to find that access was denied – it took ages to find out why
    – I finally noticed that the user name I created ( that has admin rights ) was not actually in the c:\Users\    folder what has happened is that all the files that should be in my created windows account are sitting in a folder called “user”which
    is insidec:\Users\
I then created a folder that has the same user login nameI originally created, inside
    c:\Users\
and copied all the files from the “user” folder and then tried to STFP/SSH into the original created user name but that did not work
    I then tried this link
User Account - Hide using method 2 point 12, i.e adding (1) to the SpecialAccounts key, but that has not unhide my user account.
    Using this cmd below
    net user > Desktop\Users.txt
lists the users but I would expect to see i.e
Administrator ( followed by ) …. (created username)
What I am seeing however is below
    Guest ( followed by ) …. (user)
    When I use the command
    lusrmgr.msc I see below :-
    Name = user
Full name = my created windows login
    Description = blank
I hope I can get some help here – I have cloned my disc in case of any mishaps but all I want to do is get my created win 7 user account working as it should, incidentally the login welcome screen appears on the
    created account.

    Hello
    MeipoXu
I think that I have managed to get into a better position since your last email above, but not quite where I need to be.
    I have posted 3 jpg's
    jpg key 501 = c:\Users\D&S
    jpg key1000 = c:\Users\User
jpg winscp = my SFTP attempt to my problem machine
key 1000 = c:\Users\User .. everything I try to do will not get rid of this key.
However c:\Users\D&S finally appeared, and I was able to SFTP login using winscp only to find the root reports as c:\Users\user.
What I should see is c:\Users\D&S but I can only access c:\Users\User and not c:\Users\D&S
( Does that all make sense ? )
The other thing I noticed was that key 501
is normally reserved for the guest account c:\users\guest
But it has taken over c:\Users\D&S ... if you can get me past this then I will be extremely grateful
I need to see the root reported back as c:\Users\D&S   not c:\Users\User
Turning to your post above and may I thank you for your help in trying to resolve this but before I proceed I need to be very clear about what you are suggesting I do.

Enable the built-in administrator account and login with it .To enable the built-in account:
    net user administrator /active:yes
    Q) Do I login with new the Admin account first then net user administrator /active:yes ?
    Your Quote
Cut the whole folder and paste it to the Users folder , then navigate to the registry keys"ProfileImagePath" and change it  to "c:\Users\account name".
    Q) Cut and past which folder ? is it the folder c:\Users\D&S ? and where am I pasting it as "D&S" already exists in c:\Users\D&S .. I already created it and copied all the contents from "user" to "D&S"
    Your Quote
Restart the machine and login with that account and then have a check.
    Q) That bit must mean login with D&S
    Your Quote
If the issue has gone ,please run "net user administrator /active:no" to disable the built-in account.Again
    A) Got that bit :-)
Apologies for the above but I have found to my cost that if you assume what something means it can turn out to be mis understood and I could end up creating more trouble for myself
I will submit the winscp jpg separately as you can only submit 2 jpg's per message
    Thank you

  • Odd network (and Firewire) problems cured by unplugging iMac

I experienced a weird problem with my May 2005 20" iMac G5 running 10.4.2. In October I suddenly lost the ability to connect with one of my computers but not the other. I could connect just fine to the G4 Powerbook running 10.4.3, but could no longer connect to my G4 tower running 10.2.8. The iMac would spend several minutes trying to connect and then the message I got was that the server did not exist or something similar, or sometimes it would say that the version of AFP on the G4 tower was incompatible (I hadn't changed anything). I could still connect from the Powerbook to the G4 tower without any problem so I knew that the tower was OK, and all of the computers were able to print normally through the laser printer on the network. My workaround was to transfer data between the iMac and the tower by going through the Powerbook, but this was a pain since it took twice as long.
Of course I tried rebooting the iMac a number of times, but this did not help. I was thinking it was a software corruption of some sort, and was thinking of wiping the hard drive and reinstalling the whole system (fortunately I hadn't gotten around to doing that yet).
This problem persisted for about 2 months until I also realized that my Firewire ports weren't working either when I tried to hook up a new external Firewire drive. The Firewire ports did not even appear under system profiling. I had a very hard time locating info about troubleshooting the Firewire ports, but finally came across the suggestion to unplug everything from the computer, unplug the iMac from the power and leave it off for a while.
This unplugging cured the Firewire problem and also cured the networking problem!
(I don't know why this worked. I keep the iMac plugged into a UPS to protect it against power outages if that makes any difference.)
(The network configuration: iMac and Powerbook connect to Airport Express via Airport extreme, and the Airport Express is connected to the G4 "Digital Audio" tower through an 8-port Ethernet switch (which also connects to laser printer, a PC, and another very old Mac.))

    Chime,
Good news for you. Actually, it's an emphatic YES!
Every ISP I've ever used had fine print explaining that multiple computers require multiple accounts. The interpretation of this is: Every computer you want to have assigned a PUBLIC IP address from your ISP requires it's own account. If you try to get clarification, your ISP will argue it, they want you to pay them more money for unnecessary accounts!
You only need one PUBLIC IP address from the ISP in order to establish internet sharing throughout your house. Your gateway will establish PRIVATE IP addresses for the computers on your home network.
Plug the phone cord into your Base Station (if it has a dial-up modem), the base station then becomes the one PUBLIC computer allowed on your ISP. Configure it to dial out on demand. It becomes the gateway between the internet connection and your internal network.
This is completly legitamate as long as you are sharing over an "in-your-own-home-for-personal-use-only" PRIVATE IP LAN behind your ONE gateway connection.
Not familiar with the new Base Stations, all the older ones had modems. The base station with a modem IS the most convenient way to do this (esp. for dial-up) and provides the best firewall security for the whole network. However, if yours doesn't have a modem, it's still possible to establish internet sharing using one of your computers as the gateway to dial-out and share the connection.
BTW - if BB options are limited, have you considered satellite options (DirecPC, etc.)?

  • WRT120N on non-default network and DHCP problem

    Hello,
I have setup the WRT120N on my network with an address like 192.168.3.X, the problem is that I cannot setup the DHCP server to serve on this network, it is fixed on the 192.168.1.X.
Is there a way to change this or I really need to setup my network around this router?
    Thanks
    Ivan

These settings are not possible. You cannot use the same IP subnet on the internet connection and the LAN. Routing happens based on IP addresses and subnet masks. 192.168.3.* addresses are on the WAN and the LAN side. How is the router supposed to know whether it should route an IP like 192.168.3.7 to the WAN side or the LAN side?
Actually the router should not allow you to set up this. Can you press Save settings with these settings and it is accepted? That would be a firmware bug. The LAN address should never be accepted with a internet address you have set.
Your settings suggest you don't want to use the WRT as router but as wireless access point and ethernet switch to extend your existing LAN. If that's the case, the correct setup would be to switch the internet connection type back to Automatic/DHCP. Leave the LAN IP address as it is or set it to 192.168.3.11 if you prefer that.
In addition, disable the DHCP server. (as you have it in your screen shot). The WRT cannot be a DHCP server when used as access point.
Save settings and then wire one of the numbered LAN ports of the WRT to your existing LAN. Don't use the internet port! Now the WRT is a simple wireless access point and ethernet switch. It does not do any routing, DHCP, or similar.

  • IPhone4s messaging and signal problems!

My husband and I both have the iPhone 4s, earlier this morning I was able to send text messages just fine, but for the last couple hours any text I send - not iMessages (I haven't been able to send those to my husband for months, but works fine with other iPhones - I have not tried any iMessages today) have failed to go through. My signal bars keep fluctuating between No Service and three bars - service has always been spotty in my house so I have taken the phone to areas I KNOW have signal and even if I have bars my messages still fail. I've restarted my phone, done a hard reboot, reset my network settings, and checked for software updates. I emailed my husband (what is this 2004??) and he said that he hasn't been able to send messages, but he was able to make a phone call. What is going on???

I went to the Verizon store, the guy I spoke to couldn't quite grasp why I hadn't called tech support from a different line (Hello - this IS my line!) so he called and they said that there are no towers out but that my phone was roaming. So he reset the network again and said that was all he could do. He said I needed to call tech support from a different phone while it is malfunctioning and see if they can fix it. So I will have to wait until tonight and hope my husband's phone works, otherwise I will have to drive back down the street to call and hope they don't need me to push any buttons on the phone! If they can't fix it he said they would have to send someone out to verify that I have no service and then MAYBE I can be let out of my contract... MAYBE???? Seems like if they cannot provide service at my house it should be a pretty clear out! Thank you for your help though Ann, hopefully someone somewhere can get this sorted out!

  • Safari, network, and reboot problem

    Hi,
A few weeks back I went to the apple store to get my laptop fixed. My macbook which is one of the oldest one had a screen problem. The staff at the macbook store in lexington suggested I buy a package where they would fix and clean my laptop. Few weeks after getting it fixed, my Youtube stopped working. After going through discussions here in apple support I was able to get it fixed. Now my Safari and Firefox doesn't work. It says its not connected to the internet and every time I shutdown or restart, my laptop reboots itself automatically. The network connection is good because my siblings macbooks work perfectly fine. Even my other internet applications work good like skype, yahoo, and hotmail. messengers. Please help me out.

    Hello and welcome...
Check the startup disk in case it needs repairing.
Launch Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the FirstAid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the startup disk needs repairing follow the instructions here for Using Disk Utility to Verify and Repair Disks
Check Capacity and Available at the bottom of the Disk Utility window. Make sure there is at least 15% free disk space.
Might try resetting the PRAM also, intructions here.

I use to be an old iphone user ( I had a iphone 4 for 3 years) before switching to a galaxy s4 in september 2013, at first I had texting problems so I changed everything and turned off iemssage on my old phone and texting worked fine with everybody. I then started talking to this girl quite often and we have massive texting problems. she has a iphone and I have a galaxy s4. She doesnt receive MOST of my texts and I do not ALWAYS receive her texts either, sometimes it works for a short period of time but besides that, it does not work. The wierd part is that My phone works with everybody else and her phone works with everybody else, it just doesnt work between us. does anyone have a solution to this?

  • My i phone will not open my yahoo mail, but sits and spins. I have reset the phone and network and still no help. Any other ideas?

My i-phone stopped receiving e-mail on a regular basis.  Rather, it will sit and spin trying to load and then stop.   Usually, sometime in the night, it will all of a sudden load all of my mail, but then will not load new mail again.  I have updated and reset the phone and network, and the problem remains the same.  Does anyone know a fix for this issue?

Try deleting the account, restarting your phone and then reinputting the account.

  • I'd like to debug and iPad problem joining a wireless network. Is there anyway to debug the network / system calls made while access an SSID?

We have multiple 802.1x networks, where iPads on occasion are unable to connect. There is no apparent contact by the 802.1x supplicant to join the network, and the usually the network settings both on the iPad and in the wireless systems works. So it doesn't appear to be configuration related. I'd like to debug the network protocol stack on the client, or look at iPad system logs to determine what is going on when an iPad refuses to join a network. Thanks

Yes they are centrally managed via cap/wap using PEAP/WPA1. The problem is that when this problem occurs none of that protocol is executed as far as I can tell. Hence digging into a debug log might provide a clue.

  • Since I upgrade my iphone 3gs to ios 5.1, I have several problems with network and wi-fi, any solution?

Since I upgrade my iphone 3gs to ios 5.1, I have several problems with network and wi-fi, any solution? (No jailbreak)
Most of the time the iphone cannot reach any network and when it can, there is no data transfer, I can only make calls and sms.

  • Why wont my iphone4 to my home network and my router is fine

my iphone4 wont join my home network. it was connected to it before.I have my laptop connected to my network and my apple TV and PlayStation I also have 2 other phones to are connected to it to. I reset all my settings and all so my router.

I doubt that it was due to any Apple update. Note that this router problem does not affect any device which is already connected to the router. They have an IP address and still work. Mobile devices which disconnect and re-connect to your network frequently are much more likely to first see this problem.

  • I am an iphone4 user from United Arab Emirates with home button/MIC not working during call problems..

hi, i am an iphone4 user from the United Arab Emirates. I got my phone as a gift last September and it was not bundled with any carriers and was a factory unlocked piece. Within one month of usage the home button started misfunctioning. It started registering double clicks as single, triple clicks, etc. (the usual complaint of many countless users of iphone from the time of the release.) I then kind of ignored this problem and continued using the phone.
With this problem still continuing, comes another one.
My friend gave me a call yesterday, and we were talking happily for a minute or so and suddenly without any reason my friend failed to hear me. Five minutes was spent trying to make myself heard to him. I tried and i tried and the only solution i could find was tapping the phone gently, but firmly. Then he was able to hear me but then after sometime it was back to the same problem.
The only solution i found was to tap in th sides.(please note that this is also a common problem with many who have call problems but no voice memo problems.) I tried adding and registering my device to my account but when i try to put in my iphone's serial number, they say that the device number is invalid.
Now i want to get a solution to this, but since this was a gift piece i do not have any invoice of any sort. I even checked itunes.com/support and was happy to find i still have warranty till september.
I am confused as to what to do as I was dissappointed to find even a single apple store in the UAE and do not know what do we get in terms of support. Could someone please help me?

that is exactly the problem. I have no idea as in where this phone originates from. It was gifted to my Dad from a personnel who he was supplying for in the company. My dad then gifted it to me on my birthday. I asked my dad about the phone but he also does not know a thing. He also said that the other guy must have taken the invoice with him as he did not give anything to my dad.
I checked it in quite a few places (like SharafDG,eMax,Axiom etc., the local electronics suppliers) to track where this phone was originally purchased from( because these people usually take down the IMEI's of the electronic devices they sell), but they all could not help me.
Now i have no idea what to do and i do not want to spend huge amounts of cash for this matter as i am already in the warranty period. Anyways, thanks for your help in advance, but it would be helpful if you could try to get this solved for me.
