I recently downloaded the newest upgrade for my iphone 4s...and today my screen went black. I was able to see some here and there, but for the most part nothing. I took it to the verizon store and they connected me with tech support. The girl told me that I should restore and then sync it back up and it should fix the problem. (The problem apparently was bugs from that recent software upgrade) I've tried restoring (getting the steps from a troubleshooting article from apple) but the screen remains black. I'm frustrated and out of patience. Please help!

if iBook works otherwise could be inverter board - sometimes faint image is visible on the screen.
that kind of repair is not to expensive, as a guess under $100-150 parts+labor.
if it's LCD panel could be close to $500 with parts and labor, same for the logic board.
could be even some bad connection inside somewhere.
you may want to get it diagnosed by authorized shop in your area, usually charges will apply for diagnostics, about 1hr labor.

I have just bought a new Nokia 1616. I have worked through all the settings but cannot find the one to stop it turning the screen off after a few minutes of non-use. If you press on the red phone button the time will display on the screen if the phone is on. It will also show you if the phone is locked or not by showing a small key. Press the menu button and the * key as usual to unlock.

You have a couple of options as I see it please run the Hard drive and Memory test check if both off then passes if any fails then you need to replace the part. If test passes you could try The F11 option to do system restore Or to do a recovery on the unit before doing recovery kindly back up data as it will be lost web link given below this will help you to let you know how to do the steps.

Your device is in recovery mode. Follow the steps in the support document that you linked to the forum from. You will have to restore. You may have to try this more than once, but it should work. Just connect to iTunes and select restore.

When I close my Macbook Pro and re open it, the screen stays black, HELP.

The only way I can get it back is by holding down the power button and then it restarts and works fine!

I have a similar problem. I restored my iPhone 5 to the latest available OS. After completing the process the phone never restarted. The phone was fully charged when I restored it but now refuses to charge past the red battery icon. I have been able to get the phone in UFD mode several times and have been able to load the new OS on the phone. The Apple logo does come on and the software fully loads. iTunes tells me the phone will restart but never does. I left it to charge all night but it never appeared to load the battery. This morning I went to the Grand Central Terminal apple store for help. A woman at the store plugged the phone in but it never charged. She absolutely refused to believe that I got my phone in UFD mode and loaded any software on. I don't think it is a battery issue. The only solution I was given was to buy a new phone. Repairing it was out of the question. At this point the phone is completely useless. Thanks in advance for the help.

Help! My iPad's screen is black and unresponsive, but when I plug it in I can hear it make the noise it normally would. I'm unsure what to do and I've been looking all over the internet for solutions and so far none are working.

As I mentioned, the screen is black and unresponsive. However when ever I plug it into either my charger or my lap top it will make the expected sounds, it also [when plugged into my computer] opens up iTunes how ever the device can't be seen on the side bar. So far to resolve the issue I've tried.
- Attempting to turn it on
- A reset using the home/sleep button and the power button
- Plugging it into my computer to see if I can get it working through iTunes [Which so far is fruitless]
- Holding 3 fingers down in the screen in case my screen curtain was enabled [Nothing happened with that either]
- Putting it face down over my knee and slapping the back in case a cable was lose [Done this repeatedly and nothing happened]
I don't know what's wrong with it and I've been searching for solutions for about 2-3 hour's now. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me as I would like to go through as many options as possible before trying to take it into the apple store.
[Side note I had also just updated my iPad two nights before the problems began to occur to the iOS 8 technology.My version of iPad is the iPad 2 with 16GB of memory. I'm not sure how much information will be relevant but I'll give as much as possible is someone is able to help me.]

Apple does not replace screens and your iPad is clearly out of warranty, not that accidental damage would be covered anyway. If you want to try to have your iPad fixed, there are 3rd party repair centers you can try. In your google search bar type the following:
"ipad repair "xxxxx"
Put your city in the "xxxx" for example, "tampa, fl"
There will likely be some options you could investigate.
Or, you could sell your iPad, even damaged to Gazelle.com and get yourself a shiny new iPad. And if you do, make sure you add AppleCare+ for $99. This not only increases your Apple technical support for two full years, but would get you up to two iPad replacements at $49 each.

Accidental damage is not covered under Apple warranty. And it seems there is much accidental damage. Only a Genius Bar tech looking at it can tell how much it will cost to repair.
Cost to repair will be high, I suspect (though Genius Bar will confirm/deny.
There is no gentle way to say this sir/ma'am ... someone will need to pay for your friend's MBA repairs.

Let the battery fully darain. After charging for an least an hour try a reset and restore. Use Recovery mode if necessary.
