Im trying to Restore for the 1st time my original iphone 1st Gen and when the iphone try to re boot, it stay loading in the apple logo screen, i think its the 1st screen when loading it say that it could take an hour to reset and its bean 2 days and its still loading or booting in the same apple logo screen and nothing....
i need help ASAP!

I realized how specific yet simple this chart is. I factored in all the possibilities, with the current OS, of all iPhone versions (hardware) with what we are technically allowed to do (carrier contract) and how much the overall cost will be in the long run. This has definitely helped me and I thank you for that.

Make sure you are using current iTunes on your computer. Click the iTunes Tab at the top of this page. Or try to Restore your iPhone with a different computer.

Calendar sync in Maverick with out iCloud, iPhone 1st gen

I would like to ask how to sync calendar with my iPhone 1st gen in Maverick? (With out iCloud??)

Of course 'we do'. We are not robots as yet.
The point being that apple is trying to force us, i.e., eliminate all choice for those of us who are on mac platforms to have to use iCloud to sync our calendars. I do not want my personal information and the minutia of my daily life anyplace other than in my personal possession, thank you very much.
For the first time ever, I feel as if I may be forced to leave the Apple environment.
Maverick is a mess with too many problems and in reality is really in a beta state.
Sadly, Apple is loosing its luster.

To activate your phone, you need a SIM card from the carrier to whom it's locked. The SIM needn't be active, but it needs to be present, nonetheless.
There's no way around this step.

Hi all, I have been given a iPhone 1st gen from my relatives in the USA (they upgraded to the 3G). They had this phone on contract with ATT in the US.
I am in the UK and wanted to get a Pay as you go SIM with o2, would the phone work here?

ICloud with iPhone 1st gen

Hi there - a friend of mine is long term user of MobileMe and asks me if there will be a possibility for him to get his email on his old iPhone 1st gen after going to iCloud. Can anyone give me some insight on this matter? Thanks in advance.

On the first gen, he can't upgrade to iOS 5, hence he can't use iCloud, which requires iOS 5. His mobileme will eventually go out of service at the end of June, so he is definitely near the end of using his MobileMe email unless he gets a newer generation iPhone.

Back up Iphone 1st Gen to a new Imac

Not sure what you mean by back up.
When you sync a back up is done. It does not include music and photo library photos.
Why would you not move your info/music/pics/etc from your old computer to your new one?
Iphone will sync music and photos from ONE computer at a time. When you sync to a different computer, the current pics and music will be erased.
If you have at least one unique contact and calendar entry in your new computer, then you will get the option to merge the data. If you don;t, then that will be erased as well.
It is much simpler to move the data from the old computer to the new one, then sync.

Need help restoring an original iPhone

I'm working with an original iphone, and am trying to get it to restore to a backup via iTunes (10.1). iPhone software version is 3.1.3
If I look at the Backup folder (<MobileSync < Application Support < user Library), I see that not all of the backups show in the restore pulldown list in iTunes, for what it's worth.
My original reason for trying a restore had to do with the phone freezing and not turning off (neither by time-out nor by button control). So it was some funkiness with the phone behavior, which led me to try a restore. I have no reason to think the phone hardware has somehow gone bad, since I've reasonably good care of the phone for 4+ years. Therefore I suspect it's more of a software issue than a hardware problem.
The message I get in iTunes "iTunes could not restore … because the backup session failed."
When I try to restore the phone as a new phone, I get issues with the apps not installing, and the following:
"iTunes could not sync information to the iPhone … because a connection could not be established to the iPhone."
Why would backup sessions fail?
What files in the Backup folder do I need for a successful restore?
If I get ahold of a replacement phone, and I try to restore from previous backups made by this phone, what problems should I anticipate?

Okay here's what I've sinced learned:
my original iPhone had a bad on-off button.
the problem of not being able to restore any backup with an original iPhone with 3.1.3 was duplicated on two other iPhones of the same make (iPhone 2G). The consistent message was "iTunes could not restore … because the backup session failed."
It was a problem dependent on an internet connect, when iTunes would need to go out to connect with whatever it needed to connect.
I have a semi-working replacement phone, which was downconverted to 3.1.2 from 3.1.3. Can't get to my backups made with 3.1.3, though.
What I would love to know is how I can access my backups. Will I be able to get my text messages and info from other apps made before I couldn't get to them? Will a newer phone (an iPhone 3GS for example) somehow allow me to restore to those precious backups?

Original iPhone 1st or 3G home screen wallpaper.

Going to take a shot in the dark. But I am looking for the original iPhone wallpaper in Retina form. The one that was there whether we liked it or not (for us that had the first or second gen iPhone) It was solid black with a metal mesh bottom. I've searched everywhere and cannot find it. CANNOT RESTORE MY IPOD TOUCH 1ST GEN AFTER UPDATE, WON'T RESTORE TO PREVIOUS IOS EITHER. hOW CAN i GET IT TO WORK? TO 3.1.1. IOS

My ipod worked until I purchased teh iOS 3.1.1 update from the apple store. Now my Ipod touch 1g will not even restore to the original iOs. How can I get it to update to the 3.1.1 version or restoer it. It worked fine prior to the update.

Just to give you an update, I got the iOS 3.1.3 installed (Even with the error messages 1602 & 1604). This is how I did it.
1. Turn off all spyware and antivirus
2. Open ITunes and purchase iOS and download (don't connect you ipod to the computer yet), don't select download and install. Close itunes after download.
3. My ipod was frozen with the connector and iTunes symbol in the screen, so I turned it off and with the usb plugged into the computer, hold the home button down (Puts it in recovery mode), now connect the end of the sync cord to the ipod, open iTunes and let it boot up. You should see the message that it found an ipod in recover and need to be restores. click ok and then select update.
4. This is where it will update and freeze again in restore. To continue update, leave the ipod connected (Don't touch it at all. Close iTunes and then reopen it. The connection should be made the the update should install.
It worked for me, maybe it will fro yo.

Lost all sounds on iPhone 1st Gen

All my iPhone sounds are gone unless I have headphones plugged in, including the click on and click off. I cannot hear phone calls without headphones. When I adjust volume on the side buttons it says Headphones even when no headphones are plugged in. I have Sync'ed, Restored, Restarted, and Hard restart. The silent switch is in the correct position. I have made a call with the headphones, then disconnected the phones. Nothing seems to bring the sounds back I'm out of airspeed and ideas. If I go to Settings>sounds>Ringtone and press a ring tone, it comes through the speakers. Help.

Restored ipod nano 1gb 1st gen, now cant manually change music!!!!

i had a problem with my ipod about 3 weeks back, where my nano would just keep going through a re-set loop, coming up with the apple logo against the black background, and then dying, only to go through the same loop over and over. I managaed to put it into disk mode and restore it, but now i cant manually change the music anymore. i know this is not urgent but it is extremely frustrating as i have a large collection of music and to un-tick a large selecetion of music to sync to my ipod is a real hassle.
any suggestions on what i could do???

Problem trying to sync iphone 1st gen

Hey guys trying to update to 2.0 but want to sync first and every time I plug in the phone the sync thing comes up on the phone and then goes away and nothing happens. Anyone have any ideas??

Ok figured it out. Apparently I tried to sync a file that has been corrupted in some way. Clearing synchronization and setting up a new one resolved the problem.
