HT201412 IPad 3 Contacts app will not run...

My contacts app will not open. I did not change anything. It just suddenly will not function.
I have tried a complete shutdown. I have "closed" the contacts app.
Any ideas?

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
Sometimes when a preinstalled app goes "rouge" on you, the only fix is to restore the iPad, so if you cannot get the app to open with any other fixes, that may be what you will have to do.

    I suggest that you clone your current drive with 10.6.8 to an external drive. If you have any issues after upgrading to Mavericks, you can boot back into 10.6.8.

    my apps will not run. no matter how many times i try n run them they just dont work, theyre apps that ive used throughout the day but now dont want to work, the screen flashes black as if the app is loading but then returns back to my home screen, the phone does not freeze or crash as i can do all other things on it barring runnin apps HELP!

  • IPad 2 Restore - Apps Will NOT Install

    I have recently been having intermittent problems with my home button being unresponsive on my iPad 2.  I decided I would try a restore to see if this would resolve the problem.  The home button issue may be better (more time will tell) but whoa did this create an entire new set of challenges.
    What I did:
    1) Went into iTunes to update all apps afterwards performed multiple syncs and backups just to be safe.
    2) After restore to factory settings was completed I attempted to restore iPad 2 to my latest backup from earlier in the morning.
    3) Attempted restore multiple times each time an error message states:  The app "x" was not installed on the iPad because the app could not be found
    4) The 26 missing Apps appear in iTunes with a "Will Install" button.  Pressing this button changes it to "Install".  Attempted several additional syncs but apps would not appear on iPad.  I also tried to restore with the iPad off, USB disconnected, holding down the home button, attaching the USB Factory Restore to no avail.  All of the missing apps are current and available in iTunes such as:  Amazon, Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, AroundMe, Yelp, Cards, BBC News, etc...you get it...common basic apps all gone missing.
    5) Went into iTunes Store on the iPad 2.  Searched in folder for Not on this iPad and Purchased.  Several purchased apps were missing from the list but some were there.  I tried to manually download the apps that were listed from the Cloud as well as manually enter the app name to re-download and install.  All of my missing apps when searched had the Cloud download icon even if they didn't appear in the Not on this iPad or Purchased screens.
    6) I am currently attempting to download all the missing apps from the Cloud and will try another sync.
    7) What should have been a very short an easy restore has now gone on for over 5 hours as I try multiple syncs, restarts, restores...
    Does anyone know what is happening and how to prevent it in the future?
    All of my software is up to date.  I am running OS X 10.8.4, iOS 6.1.3, all apps were updated on both device and iTunes library this morning prior to restore. 
    My iTunes settings for backups is set to iCloud automotic however I performed a backup to computer before attempting the initial restore.

    I have a similar issue. I recently purchased an iPad Mini, and I started off by backing it up from the apps I had on my iPhone. Now, I have a number of apps that never downloaded and that I don't want on the iPad. Some of these are apps that I don't need, while others are the iPhone versions of apps. There are something like 23 apps that I have no use for, but iTunes tries to install every time I connect. I've also tried clicking the 'Will Install' buttons. There's no way to delete these apps from the iPad without first installing them, as far as I can see, and there's no way to NOT install them, in iTunes.
    It''s not just annoying, it's causing problems with installation of larger files and movies. Now, every time I sync to the computer, I get a warning that I'm over capacity by 580 MB, and larger apps will not install! Clicking Revert and a bunch of other things doesn't work, either. And I can't just delete some of the apps, because I or my wife use them on our phones!

  • Contacts App will not open on my Ipad

    I am unable to use the contacts app on my Ipad. The Contacts app close as soon as I try to open it. The Mail,Calendar, Contacts settings also close as soon as I try to open it.
    When I try to sync my Ipad Contacts with the contacts on my Laptop Outlook, I get an error message indicating that the Contacts on my Ipad is in use and need to be closed before the sync operation can continue.
    How do I resolve this issue?

    Double-click the Home button to shut down the Contact App in the Task Bar.
    Hold the icon down for a second or two and tap on the minus sign to close app.

  • Problem after Update, mosts apps will not run

    After running some Apple updates this weekend, many applications on my machine no longer work. Everything ran fine before the updates. I have not installed any other new software or hardware for months.
    Any one know what's going on?

    if you are having system wide issues archive and install would be the best bet. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120 first however, you must do disk repair http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214. hopefully you do not have severe directory damage. if disk utility finds errors it cannot fix, back up your info immediately. you can use a third party app like diskwarrior or techtool pro to attempt fixing the problem, and if it can't be fixed, you will have to erase and install your operating system. [ 8 ) ]

  • Most Apps will not run

    Hi - I applied some suggested performance tweaks and now I am having major problems. Finder, Spotlight, System preferences and most apps apart from Safari will not load. Also, there are no icons on my desktop.
    The things I remembered doing previosuly were changing visual settings, removing unused language packs and running the disk utility to check/fix permissions.
    I think I may have removed too many language packs because I lot of text is coming up in what looks like Japanese!
    PLEASE HELP!!!!

    Who "suggested" these "performance tweaks"? What was the purported benefit of the "tweaks"? Making your Mac run faster, or giving you more free HD space, or...?
    The easiest way to fix it is to just roll back to the last Time Machine backup that was made before you installed the "performance tweaks". If you haven't been using Time Machine, post back with what backup program you have been using. You have been making backups, right?

  • Mail App will not run in Win 8.1

    while trying to use my mail app the other day i would get an error message stating that i could not run this because file explorer was in admin mode the it asked me to run as a different user I am the only user on the computer no other account are on there.
    I check the uac status and everything looked fine i i tried to launch the app again with still getting the same error message. I checked the properties of the file explorer and deleted Admin and system and just left myself and rebooted my computer. When it
    can back up i tried to launch it again with the same error. I am unable to get personal and business emails at this point.

    Another way to check would be ResMon for its Elevated column.  Then if it shows Yes a problem would be that I don't know what the equivalent procedure would be for "unelevating" yourself.   ; )
    There's still DropMyRights kicking around.  I wonder whether it works with MUF apps?

  • Flex apps will not run in Browser after install

    I am running IE 6 (Wintel) and have tried both installers for
    the most recent Flash player -- activeX and the other standalone
    one. I cannot view any Flex apps now in my browser - most notably
    the derby examples. It seems to hang on a screen that has the title
    "Flash Player Installation" -- like something in the apps is
    sniffing for the player, not finding it, and then hanging on some
    "automatic" install hook that has been built for Flex but not
    completely implemented yet. That is my suspicion, but I just want
    it to work -- do I need to uninstall/reboot/install again ? Any
    tips would be greatly appreciated as I need to start a Flex 2

    You definatately need to run the unistaller 1st. Also make
    sure that all IE browser are closed, and that nothing that could
    possibly be using IE functionality (things like outlook, file
    manager etc...) are not running or the uninstall may well fail.
    Once this is succefully accomplished, re-install.

    I have always found that there was a relatively High level of expectations that ANY dev platform has for the new developer's ability to just understand how things work. The debugging vs. release target thing had me stymied for a few weeks (during which I was in panic mode), before someone in this forum understood what I was trying to say, and took pity on me. it is squirreled away somewhere in the documentation, but knowing where exactly to look when you don't know what is causing your problem... thats tough. well, at least its not as bad as MPW! as much as i loved finding out about MPW, and learning how to interface with it... it was also very scary and VERY un-mac-like. Now its just a menu option, or a Plist entry, or a checkbox in an inspector window.

  • AIR app will not run on Win XP

    I craeted an AIR app for my company's sales team. I've passed it around and it works fine on most machines (mostly Dell laptops running Windows XP). I have one salesman who was able to run earlier versions of the app, but now opening the app does nothing. I can see it running in the background when I look at the Processes tab in Windows Task Manager. No one else has had this problem. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the app and the AIR player (version 1.5.3.9130). Are there any Windows security settings he might have set that would prevent an AIR app from opening?
