Reboot computer. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both home and power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. This usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Click the Restore button of iTunes. If still problem, all iPhone 4S have full Warranty. Make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.

  • Ipad not Syncing with iTunes

I am having increasing problems with getting my iPad to Sync with Itunes on my 17" MacBook Pro.  Both Mac OS and iTunes up to date with latest software as is the iPad.  The trouble started a couple of months ago with some apps failing to sync.  I deleted them from the iPad and then it was ok for a while, however this has repeated itself with an increasing frequency.
Today, whenever I connect my iPad to Itunes it will not sync.  It starts with the message "Waiting to Sync" then after a while briefly displays Cancelling Sync and then stops.  If I try and move from the Summary tab in iTunes to the Apps tab I get the spinning ball of death and iTunes hangs until I either Force Quit or unplug the iPad.
Interestingly there is no problem when I connect my wifes iPad to my Macbook Pro.  However I have the same problem when I try to connect to iTunes on her MacAir.
I have reset my iPad's settings.  I have restarted my Mac and iPad numerous times.  I have deleted all the iPad backup files on iTunes and done just about everything I can find with respect to things even remotely similar from the web or discussion boards.  Logically I have to assume it is something on my iPad however everything else is working fine - or so it seems.
Anybody else out there with this or a similar problem or any suggestions???
    Thanks in advance.

I want to start off by saying the latest update is the worst piece of software I have ever tried downloading onto my computer. After three unsuccesful updates directly from Itunes I downloaded it to file and then installed three times before it succesfully installed. At this point Itunes would freeze when trying to recognize my Ipad, Ive reinstalled twice more including individual installs of Quicktime and Itunes and NOTHING is making this worthless software work. I am not impressed at all Apple, as a matter of fact I'm tempted to NEVER buy another Apple product again because of how poor this latest update is. but whatever, some help would be nice.

  • Mini ipad not sync with itunes

I have windows 7 64 bit, itunes 11.2 and ios 7.1.1.  On May 21, 2014, I updated both my ipad 2 and mini ipad and it went into recovery mode.  I uninstalled all the programs required by apple (itunes, apple software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour, and apple application support ) in order by your support article HT1923.  I then reinstalled itunes and it restored my ipad and mini ipad.
I bought a program called coptic dictionary on May 22, 2014 on my mini ipad.  I wanted to sync it to my laptop without wifi using itunes.  But the application was not showing on my laptop.  I was able before the recovery problem occured sync my mini ipad and ipad 2 with itunes without wifi.  Now I have to use wifi to sync.    Why is that?
Is there a way to sync apps that are bought on the ipad to itunes without wifi.  If so how?  Thanks

    Hi 7Pep4,
Take a look at the article below it will walk you through syncing to iTunes with the USB adapter cable.
iOS: Syncing your data with iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1386
    Sync using USB
    Open iTunes.
Connect the iOS device to your computer using the included USB cable.
Click the Device button in the upper-right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button first.) If you don't see your device, you may need to hide the sidebar. Choose View > Hide Sidebar.
Some tabs may not appear if you don't have the corresponding content in your library. For example, if you don't have any podcasts in your library, the Podcast tab won't appear.
Click Apply, in the lower-right corner of the screen, to sync.

  • IPod touch got wet, can not restore with iTunes

I have a first generation 16 GB iPod touch that wicked up water over night from a glass surface. I didn't notice the water until morning when I picked up the iPod. I tried to turn it on but it was dead.
I dried it out using a desk lamp until moisture was no longer visible under the screen. I connected the computer and the dead battery/charging icon appeared.
Once the iPod received a few minutes of charge the display changed to 'Connect to I-tunes". I open iTunes and it displays that "an iPod in recovery mode has been detected" and to restore the device. I press restore and iTunes downloads and extracts the software, but either of the following errors occur...
    1. I-tunes tries to communicate and say's 'waiting for iPod', at which time the iPod has the apple logo and the spinning circle. This continues until the iPod is disconnected, and then iTunes says "the iPod could not be restored, an unknown error has occurred (9)".
    2. When iPod is in DFU mode and I open iTunes, It recognizes an iPod in recovery mode and sends commands to the iPod for recovery, iTunes then waits for the iPod and it's display stays black. When the iPod is disconnected iTunes says "An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again. An unknown error has occurred (1601). When disconnected and reconnected the computed makes the usb device connected but iTunes doesn't see the device until iTunes is restarted.
    3. I 'shift' click the restore after iTunes recognizes an iPod in recovery mode. I point iTunes to "iPod1,11.1.1_3A110arestore.jpsw" (which is the version it came with) and it almost immediately gives me an error, "The iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (20)".
Since I am getting prompts on the iPod, I am hopeful to start a restore somehow... Is this asking too much ? Is there another way to start a restore ? Or is this something that can be fixed by sending it in for repair ?
    Thanks Kindly

If it was just plain water it may eventually work again. But..... you broke several rules for trying to save wet equipment: you should never use heat in an attempt to dry and you should never try to charge it or connect it to your computer.
Slow drying out may be accomplished but putting your touch in a jar with silica gel packs (if you can find them) or plain white rice (NOT 'minute rice'). Then wait!!! several days.
Or is this something that can be fixed by sending it in for repair ?
Your touch has built-in moisture indicators (one is the white patch at the end of the headphone jack). If your touch shows signs of moisture, you will not be covered by the Apple warranty.
Have a little patience and with luck it will work again.

  • Books purchased on ipad not syncing with itunes

I have a purchased around 20 or so books on my ipad. I bouth them over time. The books that I purchased earlier in the year synced as normal and show up in tunes. The last 10 or so books will not show up in itunes?

Do they copy over if you do File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11) ? If they are still in the store thne you should also be able to re-download them on your computer via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page.

  • My iPad 2 will not restore using iTunes. It keeps telling me - the iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknow error occurred (4) - I have tried every suggestion I could find so far. Any ideas as to what I can do?

My iPad 2 will not restore using iTunes. It just quit a week or two ago and showed that I had to connect to iTunes.
When I do the "restore and update" it does not complete the "verifying iPad restore with Apple" and then shows the following message:
The iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (40).
I have tried it a number of times. Also turned of anti-virus and firewall. Tried on different computers. All resulted in the same message. The iPad is only 2 1/2 years old, so I hope it can be fixed.
    Does anyone have a solution?

  • When trying to backup and sync my ipad and iphone with itunes the device does not appear int he upper right hand corner anymore

when trying to backup and sync my ipad and iphone to itunes it does not appear in the upper right hand corner under devices for me to click on

In that same window - the one where you see your backups - click on the box at the bottom that say -Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads form syncing automatically. Then click OK and quit iTunes.
Connect your iPad to the computer and launch iTunes. Right click on the iPad name on the left side under the devices heading and select - Restore from backup. A window will pop up from which you can select any of the backups that you have for the iPad. Select the backup that you want to restore from and then go agreed and restore the iPad. Sync with iTunes when you are done.
Remember that when you restore from a backup - you restore everything in that backup to the iPad. You cannot selectively restore content. It is all or none.

  • HT201412 what chance do i have of recovering my data if i try restoring with iTunes?

i have a black screen with apple logo and cursor (appearing as rays) overlapping the apple. tried draining it, didn't work. tried pressing power and menu bars simultaneously but didn't work either. if i restore with iTunes, what is the chance i will be able to recover my data especially my notes since i don't have back up memory? help! ty

    You will likely only be able to recover use of the iPad by using these instructions;
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
Using this method will erase all user data. Without a backup you will never recover your data.
