You probably need to restore your iPad now. Pay attention to the last part of this kb article where it explains about using recovery mode. You may need to restore the iPad using that method.

If it is otherwise working, you can change the battery. If you want to do it yourself, you can buy the part on eBay and other online sources. Just make sure you know the type of iPod you have so that you get the right part.

You can also have a repair business do the work.
If it is just the battery, if you do a Reset (using the Menu and Select buttons) while it is connect to your computer, I think it should still be recognized by iTunes.

You can try to reboot a few more times. If it doesn't come back and you normally sync to a computer, hook it up and see if the 'guts' are working even if the screen isn't.
Beyond that you should make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out.

Having resent my iPad using the Settings route, the Apple logo appeared onscreen and a line below it filled from left to right. When full, the device did nothing. HT201412 iPad 2, ios 7.0.2; Apple logo when cover opened requiring a reset to start iPad even after system restored through iTunes. Same problem with Lock / Unlock off.

This problem only started after installing ios 7.0.2 on 3 Aug 2013. The iPad must now be switched off before closing the magnetic cover or the system freezes displaying the Apple logo. I think the lock up occures as the cover is closed as the iPad was quite warm when I returned to use it about 2 hours later. The battery was fully charged just prior to the upgrade, but, after a system reset to get the iPad running again, I found the previously full battery down to abt. 20%. I have tried turning the (auto) "Lock / Unlock" off but closing and re opening the cover still reveals a black screen with the Apple logo, and the need to reset. I restored the iPad through iTunes but the problem still remains........any ideas any one.........APPLE ???

No the iPad has never been jailbroken (or dropped, knocked, dunked or sat on)

Both of the above was conducted on a clean install with no backups restored.
The problem ocurred immediately after the iOS 7.0.2 upgrade. I have used the iPad every day since I got it shortly after version 2 came out and it had performed flawlessly right up to this upgrade. The upgrade was done wirelessly and the battery was fully charged. The iPad was disconnected from the charger before the start of the upgrade and no problems were encountered during the upgrade. I closed the cover on completion and that appears to be when the problem started. All subsiquent restores have been through iTunes 11.1.1.11 with no reported problems.

I had this problem, too. I left my iPhone in the car for an hour and it got too hot. Got the yellow triangle on my screen warning that the temperature was too high. The phone was dead. So, I let the phone cool down for a couple of hours, then I plugged it into my MacBook Pro and held down the iPhone's power button and home button together for 20 seconds, and fixed the problem. Hooray!

What was the exact wording of the error message? Usually a number or other information is provided in addition to just saying unknown error.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

When this happened the first time, I seriously thought it wouldn't come back on. That is a known bug in iOS 5.1.1. The iPod "crashes" when editing photos. Just do not edit photos and wait for the next update. Most users have said it crashes when editing screen shots.

i know loads of people who have had this problem including me. The Java script update apparently had some virus that has overloaded the start up disk. I took to apple who said i have to have the machine rebuilt but first i have to go to a data recovery company to get back everything that was on it. Iphone will not turn on! Shows Apple logo then fades out?

I have an iphone 3g used, jailbroken. Worked fine till last night, left it in car, woke up this morning and was off. I plug it into car charger and now apple logo went on, then fades out and nothing adter 30 seconds. I went to store and guy said to reboot in itunes. I plug it into my computer and NOTHING! wont detect it or even give the apple screen. I plug it into my car charger, hold home and power button and I get the plug into itunes screen. As soon as i unplug it to connect to laptop itunes, the phone shuts off. Help! My business is on this phone. When it is plugged into i tunes, i just get a faint black screen. I only get apple logo when plugged into car charger.

Try to force it into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the USB cord. Press and hold the home button while plugging in the computer's USB cord. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo.
