Ipad will not turn on but shows in itunes?

I have an iPad 4S which has been working absolutely perfectly until now. I put it on charge after it ran out and it will not turn on now. I have connected it to my PC and it shows up in iTunes but still won't turn on. At one point I tried moving the lock screen switch and this made the "Padlock" icon visible but nothing else.
Now the screen stays dark other than when I press the main start button and then I can see the Padlock icon and nothing else.
I am on iOS 8.1.1
Can anyone help?

iPad worked fine this morning, but this evening not working. When I start it, I see the apple picture, then it goes blank. Then the apple comes on again, then blank. The the apply comes on again, and again, and again.
Tried and failed to make it talk with iMac or iTunes.
Lost without my iPad. Help with a clue how to handle?

If the reset doesn't work, try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

TS5185 My IPAD will not send messages to non APPLE users.

Today, Christmas Day, while trying to send a message my IPAD wanted me to turn on iMessage. There was no option not to do this. After it was turned on I could no longer send messages to non Apple users. After reading online that I could set send SMS on my IPHONE I did. Now I guess it send everything as an SMS message. Now my IPAD will not send messages to non Apple users. I guess Apple wants us to pick our friends only if the use Apple products. This is about as stupid as it gets. They want us to only communicate with Apple users. The only other option is to turn the feature off. Why have iMessage in the first place.
So my situation is I can send SMS Messages on my IPHONE. I cannot send any messages to non Apple users on my IPAD and iMessages to my Apple users.
This kind of stupidity is why I switched from Windows to Apple in the first place. Don't they test anything out anymore at Apple?

My ipad will not come on, I do not have a manual. Recommendations have been to reboot/reset it by holding down the home button and the sleep button. I do not know which button is which. Can someone please describe to me which two buttons to hold down?

4. Ignore the red slider

My iPad will not connect to wifi, even though my computer is currently connected. Airport mode is off, and my iPad shows connectivity in the corner. Is there any way to fix this without completely resetting the device?

smtp require some ports to be open out to the Internet if wifi router or isp carrier block those then you can't send mails

My iPod 4th gen will not do anything but scroll and occasionally flash the Apple logo for a few seconds

Last night while I was trying to delete an app, my iPod crashed. Usually it will restart just fine but it has not sucessfully turned off or restarted as far as I can tell. It stays on the black screen with the scrolling white wheel in the center and about every twenty minutes or so the screen will suddenly go white and then switch to the Apple logo like it's going to turn back on, but it just starts scrolling again. I have tried holding the lock button to try to get it to turn off and that hasn't worked and neither has going through the steps to reset (holding lock and home simultaneously until the apple logo appears). Any other suggestions or is it just toast?

Will not print anything but Pdf files!

If I try to print anything at all other than a PDF file from Adobe only(other readers will not even work) very little of the page prints if anything at all. For example, I was trying to print a shipping label off of the website, and the only thing that would print was the barcode. Nothing else. I actually had to convert it to a pdf file and open it with Adobe, and then it printed perfectly. I have tried reinstalling, restarting, using the HP support doctor, which says absolutely nothing is wrong with my printer. I am at a loss to why it will only print pdf files from Adobe. Can anyone please help me?! I forgot to mention it worked perfectly about a month ago. We don't print a whole lot and didn't notice it was messed up until just a few days ago.

I understand that when printing from your Windows 8.1 computer to your HP Deskjet 1512 All-in-One Printer, nothing is printing, except Adobe PDF files. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. Now, you indicate in your post that you had tried to print a shipping label from a website, and only the barcode prints. However, if you open the file up and print it from Adobe it appears to print fine. This leads me to believe that the actual issue that is occuring is a print system issue with the black cartridge. I know it may come as a surprise to hear that as Adobe is printing fine. However, when you print from certain programs on your computer the file is sent to the printer as an 'image' file. If your printer 'thinks' it is printing an image it will use a mixture of colour ink and black to print the black document. Therefore, what you may actually be seeing when you print from Adobe is colour ink mixed. To start troubleshooting I am going to have you print a Quality Diagnostics Report from your printer and this will help us to isolate this printing issue. Please follow the steps below. How to Print a Quality Report: Load clean, white U.S. Letter or A4 paper in the input tray, if necessary.Press and hold the Power button. While holding down the Power button, press and hold the Cancel button. Hold them both down for 2 or 3 seconds.The test page prints. (1) Printed with the tri-colour cartridge(2) Printed with the black cartridge If this Report prints perfectly: Then the printing issue that you're experiencing is not being caused by your products print system. Rather, there may be a driver conflict occuring between your Windows computer and your printer. Please do not proceed with troubleshooting at this time. If this Report prints with missing black or other quality issues: Then the printing issue that you're experiencing is being caused by your products print system. To resolve this hardware issue can I please have you click here. Once the support document opens please choose the Windows 8 dropdown. Next, follow the steps under Solution one, Solution five, Solution six, and Solution seven. This includes any sub steps under the listed Solutions to complete. Once troubleshooting has been completed please print another Quality Diagnostics Report to confirm if the issue has been resolved. Most likely it is showing an cable connecting to an iTunes symbol which indicates the device is in recovery mode.
Connect the device to a computer running iTunes and restore.

That is a message telling you to connect your iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. Do it and see what happens. You may need to restore your iPad but first just connect the iPad to the computer and see if iTunes instructs you to finish the update.
