My 3GS phone has a continuous white screen and will not let me get to my display. I have connected to ITunes and restored the hardware and restarted my phone and I still get the same thing. Anybody have any solutions?

me too, i think its called the wsod (white screen of death) and i think its a hardware defect caused by either the lcd or the connector

Iphone 3GS white screen, still after reset. I DIDNT GET IT WET?

I hit a dirt jump on my bmx bike with my phone in my pocket and fell. Not to hard but i guess hard enough to make the screen turn white ;[. So after googling the issue i found out i should try to reset it. After restating the phone several times the white screen still stayed there. It sometimes had faint Rainbow vertical lines. I can still use my phone because it vibrates and rings when i call it. The touch screen still works to. But the ***** screen is white. Am i right? If i drop 50 bucks on this and its still broken im gonna be ***** pist.
The lcd screen doesn't seem broken, when i disassembled the phone there wasn't any obvious tears or scratches.

how would you recondmend selling it for parts? And do you honestly think its worth a try buying that item i linked in my first post? i can get a gold back housing and gold metal trim thing for cheap. Would those new aditions make it sell for more and if so would i get profit over the money i spent in parts?

Thanks for your reply Michalo. I am in India and here Apple care does not work on Sundays. I have been without my phone for the entire day. Perhaps tomorrow will bring some respite. There is not solution to "error (-1)" on any forum it seems. I found one forum which suggested use of Tiny Umbrella. Any idea about that?

I tried to download an upgrade that was recommended by APPLE, the upgrade stopped halfway through and the iPod Touch was turned off, now the iPod Touch has a BLANK WHITE SCREEN and is UNRESPONSIVE to the COMPUTER

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I've also got this annoying problem, but it seems to vary how long the phone wants to last before crashing - i think the longest conversation i've had with iOS4 is 15 minutes and it was an important phone call (my son was in hospital at the time and i was away on business)
i was hoping that iOS4.2 would fix the problem, but alas nothing but more crashing..
being a user of Apple products since 1984, having this trouble is pretty disappointing as i used to believe that Apple made a quality product..

- Try restoring it via iTunes on your computer. First restore from backup and if problems persists restore to factory defaults.
- If itunes does not see the iPod see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will make it visable,
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
Next try placing it DFU mode and restoring it.

If restoring to factory defaults does not solve the problem then an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Try the following:
Go to Settings > Messages > iMessages > disable
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
let it do it's thing and reset.
Then go to Settings > Messages > iMessages > enable
You'll then have to go back to your Wifi and re-enter your router credentials.
