HT201412 My iPod Touch 4th Gen keeps shutting off (like it's dying) and turns white and looks frozen...then an apple logo appears and takes a while to come back on. This only happens when I try to edit photos (cropping, especially)? Help me pleaseee!
When this happened the first time, I seriously thought it wouldn't come back on. I was trying to crop something out of the of a photo and it shut off like it was dying (it was fully charged) and then froze, turned white, then an apple logo appeared. Once it turned on i went back to do what i was doing and it did it again. The next time it turned on, I went to play Design this Home, and it didnt shut off..so my only reasoning is that this happens when i edit a photo...i haven't done anything abnormal with my iPod and don't understand why this is happening...please please help!
That is a known bug in iOS 5.1.1. The iPod "crashes" when editing photos. Just do not edit photos and wait for the next update. Most users have said it crashes when editing screen shots.

I have a similar issue happenning with my ipod touch 64GB running IOS 6.0.1. My music content is stored via itunes on my Snow Leopard macbook pro as well (and not in the cloud). The music on my ipod (which is sync'd to my macbook pro when I connect via usb) has randomly disappeared about 3 or 4 times lately, not during sync'ing and unrelated to battery charge levels. Fortunately I have been able to restore it by restarting my macbook pro then re-syncing the ipod, which it is now doing as I write, but it takes hours (for over 3000 songs). Having looked at a few other forum discussion pages, it seems this may be a bug related to IOS 6 updates and using music/itunes and podcast playing apps. The same thing has intermittently occurred with some other content such as downloaded podcasts, iplayer content and photos. Once I reconnected the ipod it synced and apparently restored the content, but I can't understand why it lost it in the first place, and its very annoying. Lets hope the reinstalling works on my ipod tonight....up to 248 of 3326 songs syncing as I write....

This will fix your problem!
To put the device in DFU mode,
1. Connect the device to iTunes
2. Hold both the power button and the home button down simultaneously
3. After 10 seconds, release the power button but leave the home button pressed
4. iTunes should then recognize that the device has entered DFU mode and ask to restore.
That should get you back on your way.

Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:

lately my iPod touch 4th gen will become frozen, or slow whenever i am using it. Your iCloud backup does not include non-iTunes purchases like music from CDs
If on your iPod now:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
You can go to Setting>iCloud>Manage Storage and see what is using the store and delete items from iCloud -

Hi everybody out there, I am posting this because I am having a serious problem with my iTouch 4th gen. The problem below:
I did a full+trickle charge like five days ago and everything was going fine, I was using my iTouch and left it in standby for like two days, I checked for its battery level yesterday and it was 4% so it was obvious it wasn't going to last much time, so I decided to leave it until the battery was totally drained. I plugged it using my iPad charger and original charger and it started to charge but as soon as I was going to grab it to unlock it started to reboot and kept on rebooting. I left it connected and it was 12% but after five reboots it was under 5% and the battery seemed to be hot, It is obvious it is not a software problem. Any idea how to fix this? Do I have to replace the battery? Thanks in advance.Try:
