My phone has locked up and has a spinning wheel in the centre ? Any ideas on how to fix quickly (other than connecting to itunes ??)

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

Computer locks up with spinning wheel

I need help.
My iMAC 24" 2.8 has locked up about 5x while surfing the next. I can still move the mouse, but cannot click on any icons, etc... there is a little spinning multi colored wheel that shows up.
Can anybody give me any answers as to why? This is a new computer and is very frustrating.

It is possible that you have too many programs open, system Ram is maxed out. Go into Activity Monitor to check your system CPU and Ram usage.

TS3276 The mail won't send. The activity window shows 2 gmail connections with one indicating a green and the other just sits there unable to connect with spinning wheel.

My Gmail won't send messages. I used the activity doctor to check what was going on and it lists 2 gmail connections. The first seems to be fine with green light. D13, thanks for these details. This an awesome clue. Are you able to connect to this Wi-Fi connection with other devices? Let's try a few steps to resolve this issue.
First, reset the network in Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network and power your device off/on.
Secondly, delete the Wi-Fi connection in Settings>Select your Wi-Fi>Forget this Network and the try to connect to that Wi-Fi again.
Lastly, try creating your Wi-Fi connection. Tap Settings>Enable Wi-Fi ON. From Choose a Network, select Other. Enter the Wi-Fi network name. Select Security. Select the Wi-Fi network type then select Other Network. Enter the Wi-Fi network password then select Join

You may need to restore the iPhone while it is in what's called 'recovery mode.'

Sorry but it's in Recovery Mode and needs to be restored using iTunes on a computer. See if you can borrow a computer, or go to some place that has one.

IMac has gray screen with spinning wheel, but cannot login

After power failure last night, iMac has gray screen with spinning wheel when turned on, but does not go to login screen.

Having the same problem myself. iMac locked up and I had to hold the power button to turn it off. Ended up with the apple logo screen and spinning wheel. I tried the disk repair and got the same message as yourself, in that it couldn't repair it.
I linked up an external hard drive and installed OSX on it and booted from it. I was able to recover some files, but most I couldn't. I'm currently giving it a one pass erase in the hope (long shot) that a complete pass through the hard drive will show up any faults. Has anyone had this problem and been able to continue using the same hard drive? I really don't relish the thought of having to send it off to be replaced :-/
Assuming that the erase goes well I plan to put OSX back onto it and then run disk utility from directly on the drive and see if any faults show up. I'm kicking myself for not taking advantage of TimeMachine, but we live and learn.

What model year Mac and what version of OS X are you running.
If this is on an older Mac with standard Rotating HDD it could be a sign the HDD is either to full of data or it is starting to fail. It could also be caused by 3rd party software you've installed.

Iphone 3G stuck on black screen with spinning wheel and unable to hard reset plug or unplug with PC.
I tried holding both home/off for 10 sec, 20 sec, 2 min nothing.... Itunes can't read my iphone and nothing happen to the phone....

Have you tried a very basic troubleshooting step well-outlined in the User Guide called reset? Hold the on/off switch and the home button togeter (usually around 30 seconds) and don't let go until you see the Apple logo.
I highly recommend reading the User Guide to learn about other general troubleshooting steps.

Machine locks up with spinning colored ball while in finder

Frequently, while doing searches through my photos with Finder and trying to copy a photo from one folder to another the system locks up with the spinning colored ball. How do I kill the action(on my PC it was Control Alt Delete).
