HT201412 When upgrading from ios 4.3.3 to latest 6.0.1 upgrade fails and cannot restore.

Hi I'm getting grief with my iPhone
Tried to update ios on my iPhone 4 from 4.3.3 to latest version 6 and it fails. Tried to restore but that fails. Run diagnostics and reports all OK. Running iTunes on PC running XP Pro SP3
Please HELP!!!

As always, everything on your iphone should be on your computer. Nothing should be on the iphone only.
Your apps and music should be in itunes on your computer.  If for some reason it is not, then put it there.
You should be syncing contacts and calendars with your computer regularly.
You should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regualrly.

    To troubleshoot this issue where your camera is displaying a black screen, please follow the information outlined below.
    You see a closed lens or black screen
    If you see a closed lens or black screen when you open the Camera app, try these steps:
    Make sure that there’s nothing blocking the camera lens. If you’re using a case, try removing it.
    Force the app to close, then open the Camera app again.
    Restart your device, then open the Camera app again.
    If your device has a front and rear camera, try both cameras by tapping  (camera swap icon). If you see the closed lens or black screen on only one camera, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.

    I've tried all the troubleshooting documents for iTunes for Windows and nothing works.  The Help files in iTunes do not display - just blank windows.  Ran the diagnostics and they say that a secure connection to iTunes store cannot be established, but the Help button brings up a blank window.
    No error is ever displayed.  It just continues to say "Accessing iTunes Store..." forever.  Just got a new iPhone 4s and would love to sync it, register it, etc. but no luck there.
    Any ideas?

    Doublechecking. In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?

    (Annoyingly, it's a bit of an "orphan" article ... there aren't many (if any) links to it from the other standard troubleshooting documents for Store-connection trouble. So I thought it was possible you might have missed it previously.)

    It's a built-in app, so it can't be deleted nor downloaded from the store. If you can't find it on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Camera being set 'off' ?
    If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    I'm not trying to minimize your issues, but I have an iPhone 5S and find that I have not had these types of problems on AT&T. I'm wonding if something has gotten stuck in a loop that is continually trying to use data. If you make a good backup of your phone, try restoring it as new, and do not add anything to the phone right away. Let the device run like this for a little while and see what kind of usage you have. You report you phone is showing usage of 21GB. Did you rese this setting on the phone to begin at your billing period? The reason I ask this is some people believe this setting resets on its own with your billing period, it does not. This has to be manually reset by the user, so it might not be that accurate depending on the last time that you reset it.
    If the phone seems to not use so much extra data during the period the device does not have extra apps on it, then try restoring from your backup and see what happens. If this increases your data usage quite fast again, then there is probably something corrupt in the backup that is causing this issue.

    How do I upgrade from iOS 4.3.4 to at least iOS 5 or 6.  I have been told to do it through iTunes but have not found the app yet.  I am not real good at this sort of thing and could use any advice.  I changed from ATT to Consumer Cellular service and my phone will not connect to the internet unless I upgrade to at least iOS 5.

    I can't upgrade from IOS 6.0.1 to IOS 7.1.1 on my iPad 2. iPad says it has downloaded IOS 7.0.3 but cannot verify the installation if I try and install it. It claims that I have lost internet connection, which I have not. I cannot restore or update the iPad in iTunes either, if I try to, I get an error message which says that I 'do not have permission to access the requested resource'. I am using the latest version of iTunes on Windows 8. I have tried putting the iPad in recovery mode and restoring it with iTunes, the result is the same.
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Are you using the encryption key code for your home wifi network?  The encryption key code is usually located on a sticker on the back of the router.

If you do not have a Software Update option present on your iDevice, then you are trying to upgrade to iOS 5 or higher.     Restore, if iTunes will let you.  Everything except the password will be restored.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  Be forewarned that it takes a long time.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  Since you have IOS-7, read this.
