HT201413 ipad is stuck after trying an update
My ipad is frozen with a picture on the screen indicating it wants to connect ot itunes. This happened after I was trying to do an update.
I have done that. After going through all the steps of trying to recover the ipad, I get a message of -1. this correlates to some type of hardware issue and suggests taking it to an Apple store. The tech at the Apple store says it can't be fixed and I should purchase a new one. REALLY?? All this because I was doing a suggested update that went bad and now I need a new ipad? Do I now want to do an update to my iphone?

5s stuck after trying to update to 8.0.2
I tried to update to 8.0.2 over the air and the phone is stuck on recovery mode loop . Every few minutes it flashes a blue screen.
I tried to restore it after entering recovery mode via i tunes but wile downloading the update the i tunes icon went away and one again i only get the apple logo and the blue flashing screen.
I tunes stopped recognising the device.
i can only turn off the device with the home & sleep button.
Do i need to bring the device for service? That image on your iPhone is telling you it is recovery mode. You must connect it to your computer and then restore with iTune on your computer.

My iPad is dead after trying to Update
I have about a 5yr old iPad. I plugged it into my MacBook Air to charge it, got a request to update iOS to 8.2. Then got error message 3014 saying it can't be updated nor restored. Now it won't launch.
Went to Support based on the error message 3014, got help page on going into the Terminal mode and checking Host files. I'm supposed to make a minor edit to the line containing: “gs.apple.com”. That line is completely missing, probably the crux of the problem. My question is what is the number sequence that precedes this entry on that line? Can I use the number sequence in the example? Or is it something else? Can't get into the iPad, is it stored somewhere else on my laptop? When I go into iTunes on the laptop, the iPad doesn't even show up as a connected device tho' it's physically connected. Ideas?Hello ,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that you're getting an iTunes update error of 3014 when trying to update your iPad. If the gs.apple.com line does not exist in your hosts file, then you should continue to the next step of the article, to check your TCP/IP filtering and security software running on the computer. You should be able to update to iOS 8.2 OTA (Over the Air) however. To update Over the Air, connect your iPad to a Wi-Fi network and follow the directions below.

Update your device wirelessly
The easiest way to update your device is wirelessly, also called “over the air.” Here’s how:
Plug in your device to a power source.
Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Tap Download and Install. Updates might download automatically while your device is connected to Wi-Fi and a power source.
Tap Install, or tap Later to install the update later. If you use a passcode, you'll need to enter it before installing the update.

My ipod is stuck after trying to update
my ipod tried to update itself thru iTunes, and now i cant even turn it on.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

SOS - trying to update my iphone 4 to IOS 6. Says connect to itunes. Done that but nothing is happening. Devices doesnt even come up in itunes? phone is stuck with apple logo on screen. cant do anything?
With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up. If not, you are having a sync problem. If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

IPad locked up after trying to update, what do I do?
I've been geting that notice about updating my iPad,the iSO 4 thing or something. The latest as of 29.05.2011.So I finally decided to give it a chance and selected the "Download and Install" option.Towards the end of the process I got a notice from the taskbar, giving me a "New Hardware Found" message,so I just ignored it for a while ,cause usually when I connect the iPad it doesn't appear, but after a few moments I got an error from iTunes saying that the process could not be compleed and then the iPad just blocked. It won't respond in ANY possible way.It just shows the iTunes logo and the end of the USB cable and an arrow pointing towards the iTunes logo, but even if I try to connect it to the computer, the computer won't recognize it anymore. It's like, completly unresponsive.
I also tried pushing both the Home and Power button at the same time, but it just shuts off for a few seconds and then displays the same image.
HELP ,PLEASE?Temporarily disable or turn off your computer's security software (firewall, anti-virus, etc). Try the download/upgrade again, and remember to re-activate security software.

IPod stuck after trying to update software
Hello there
This is my 2nd attempt to update my iPod software and like the first time, it seems to have left my iPod stuck on 'Do Not Disconnect', with the drive just whirring away.
The first time I tried this I thought it'd killed my iPod. It looks like it's doing the same thing again. Should I just disconnect my iPod and see if I can sort it like I did last time?
Or does the update just happen to take ages and ages?
Thank you for your help. I've looked through a few threads but haven't managed to find anyone with quite the same problem - apologies if I missed it.I had the same problem, this is how I fixed it...
I had to go to a completely new computer (my work one) that didn't have iTunes on it, install iTunes 9.0, then do the restore...now it works...
I would assume that if you removed every last vestige of iTunes from your computer it would act the same way. I think you would have to delete and completely remove the iTunes files from your user folder on Windows machines (AppData or LocalData, the hidden folder with the iTunes info in it...) -
my iPad has been stuck on the apple log for almost 10 hrs after trying to update to ios 8, how can this be fixed?
Try reset iPad and continue with update.
Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down together until you see the Apple Logo.
Note: Data will not be affected. -

You may have to restore your iPad using Recovery mode, but try a reset first. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Let go of the buttons when you see the logo. This takes about 10-15 seconds.
IF the update will not complete or you see the connect to iTunes message on the screen, you have to restore your iPad.

Open iTunes on computer, connect iPhone to computer, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes. If still problem, try
DFU Mode Restore: Open iTunes on computer, connect iPhone to computer. Hold both Home and Power Button for exactly 10 seconds, then release the Power button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes the iPhone in Recovery Mode, the iPhone screen should be black, blank. Click the Restore buttons of iTunes.
iTunes needs to be up to date version 10.7, if you need this, click the iTunes tab at the top of this window screen.
