HT201413 Ipod touch recovery.

I have an old iPod touch that I recently turned on again. I forgot the password so I ended up in Disabled mode connect to iTunes. I connected it but iTunes did not recognize or show the device as connected at all. I placed the iPod in recovery mode and it is still not recognized in iTunes. I have also followed instruction on other similar case like disabling Apple mobile and iPod in the admin tools... updating iTunes and updating my computer itself and still nothing. What can I do to use it again!

Are you sure it is 1043? I've never seen that error before. But you can try disabling your security software, connecting the phone to a USB port directly on the computer (not a hub), and trying to restore again.

  • Ipod Touch Recovery Mode Loop - Error Code 14

I attempted to update my Ipod Touch (3rd Gen 32 GB) to the latest firmware (IOS 5 i think). It froze during the process and has since been stuck in a Recovery Mode loop. I have followed all recommendations on their website, called Apple support and re-installed all Apple related software, and even been to the Genius Bar in our local Apple shop, and it still broken!! They said that as it was out of Warranty (six months) and had a 'Hardware fault' i could buy a replacement for £120. I tried to argue with the shop staff and higher level customer support staff on the phone that my Ipod was working just fine before attempting to update the firmware so how could it be a hardware fault??
Is it just me or the fact that as soon as the one year warranty is up, Apple expect you to replace your faulty item with a new one. So much for good quality goods, can we expect Apple products to last just over a year and then be expected to buy a replacement!!
Isn't the fact that i have been offered a new Ipod Touch 32GB for only £120 pounds an admission that the product has some fault issues??
    Anyone else in this position?
Any ideas how to fix the problem?
Anyone else disappointed with Apple Customer Support?

From the article cited at the end of my post:
Error 6: All of the steps in this article apply to resolve this issue. Following iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software frequently resolves this error. There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your Registry. If your default packet size is set incorrectly it can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance.

  • Ipod Touch - recovery and restore does not delete unknown Restrictions Code

Hi, I'm sure this has been answered hundreds of times already.
Having put into recovery and restored on numerous occasions, I find that ipod is still in '10 failed attempts' on wanting to enter passcode (whether it's Restrictions or Reset).  All info i find says to recover/restore etc. and this will return to factory settings, but it isn't.
How can I get rid of this locked passcode please?

Normally you should be able to put in a new passcode during this process:
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

  • New ipod touch recovery mode

I just connected my new iPod but I cant do anything because it says that it is in recovery mode and I am not sure what to do.

Try RecBoot to get it out of recovery mode. If that does not work, just go restore it.

  • Ipod touch recovery

hi can anyone help. i just got a new ipod touch and it tells me that it is in recovery but when you try to restore the ipod all you get is software unavailable

I have the same problem. But if you have mac, i suggest putting your iTouch inr DFU mode. To do this, hit BOTH the lock button at the top, and the home button for 10 seconds, then let go of the lock button, and hold home for 10 seconds. You will be in DFU mode then.

  • Security Vulnerability in iPhone 3GS/iPod Touch Recovery Mode

Part of the appeal of the iPhone 3GS and related 2009 iPod Touch models is the built in hardware encryption, but a well-publiced attack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHdNoKIZUCw) by iPhone Forensics specialist Jonathan Zdziarski means that the encryption can be circumvented by putting the device into Recovery Mode, as there can allow the installation of a custom kernel WITHOUT authentication (Passcode or equivalent) being invoked (http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2009/07/iphone_encrypti.html#c386843).
There is a rumour that a fix for this missing authentication was included in the iPhoneOS 3.0.1 "SMS" patch, but I can find no documentation that it was included in that patch, nor any other statement as to whether this has been resolved.
I am working with clients who would be interested in replacing aging PocketPC based PDAs with a mix of iPhones and iPod Touches, but would not be interested in buying a platform with such an egregious security design issue unresolved.
Any further information would be welcome.
    Thanks!
    Bill

    Did you try here:
    Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
    Error 1603
Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. Also, discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps under Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations. If you do not want to remove the IPSW in the original user, try restoring in a new administrator user. If the issue remains, Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.

  • HT201413 iPod Touch has problem restoring because of error code -1?

Can someone explain to me why I can't restore this?

    gerrno-
Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards.
This falls into the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" category.
    1. You should be at version 2.2.5 or later on the AHT. My guess is that this is the root of your problem.
    2. You can't. Only Apple Authorized Service folks can do that. They have the special CD of software.
    3. Since it has been working fine my guess is that nothing is wrong.

  • IPod Touch stuck in recovery mode and not detected in iTunes

I was trying to update my iPod Touch (currently 3.1.3), so I downloaded the 4.3.3 firmware (I didn't want to download the 4.3.5) and connected my iPod to my computer, opened iTunes and hit Shift+Restore. Then, I chose the 4.3.3 firmware and proceeded with the restore.
    However, the following appears:
    Error 1602
I pressed OK and the restore process stopped. But, my iPod is stuck in recovery mode. Every time I reboot it, the recovery mode shows up. It's also not detected in iTunes although my computer recognize it as iPod Touch Recovery Mode.
Please help me solve this. I can't use my iPod.

Error 1602: Try the following steps to resolve this error:
Ensure proper USB isolation troubleshooting has been performed, and test with a known-good cable.
Follow the steps listed for Error 1604.
This error may be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.
    Above from:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
Also, when updating/restoring an iDevice, iTunes contactact the Apple sever to verify that you have the latest iOS version.  If not, it will not allow an install if an earlier version.

  • How do I recover photos that were NOT backed up from ipod touch 4th generation?

I have a iPod Touch (4TH Genration). It was frozen for two days straight on the apple logo. I kept holding the two keys and tried to connect it to itunes and it wouldn't budge. On the third day I conected it to itunes, and it told me that it nedded to be restored and that my photos would be backed up. Now here I am with a funny acting ipod and NO photos!
Does anyone know how to get photos that were not backed up?
