If you feel like it's been that way for too long, try putting the iPad in Recovery Mode:
Leave it plugged into the computer. Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the screen goes black and the Apple logo reappears. At that point, release the power button but continue holding the home button until iTunes on your computer says "iTunes has detected a device in Recovery Mode." Then click "Restore" in iTunes. -

Is it the software update checking that you are talking about?
If its this can you just select 'Cancel' to stop it? or force quit?
It possible that the computer has lost its connection to the Apple servers and just needs to restart the process.
Or,
Is it a particular software update that you are running that has frozen up? -
I got an app but it only installed a quarter of the way then it froze. Its been like that for two days and i can't dlete it. How do i fix this?
Double tap the Home button to bring up the multi-tasking bar...tap & hold any app until they all start to wiggle...tap the red minus sign to remove every app shown. Tap the Home button when finished. Try to delete the app now.

The computer that I originally used with my ipod touch is dead, so I am now synching with another computer. I had to restore the software of the ipod, I am able to drop and drag my tunes back to the ipod but not my purchased apps. I have no problem doing this with other ipods that I have synced and backed up to this computer.

i have a 60gb photo ipod running version 1.2.1
i just downloaded a bunch of songs off of the music store and when i went to put them onto my ipod, i got a message that some of the song could not be added because my software was too old. (but it is not).
help!What version of iTunes are you using?
I think you may have meant 1.1.2 for the iPod software, rather than 1.2.1... unless the 30gb video iPod software (my model) is different to the 60gb model.
6.0.5 is the latest iTunes version (on a non-intel Mac). -
My apple TV is not working. It is showing the Itunes log with the white sync cable. it has been like that for days.
That means you have to hook it up to your Mac/win PC and restore it from within iTunes using a micro-USB cable.

What is a hard reset? There is nothing in any of Apple's documentation that refers to a hard reset.
There's a reset, a restart, and a restore.

mine just did the same thing! im almost in tears and i cant figure it out. im downloading the update to see if that will help. i have reset it like 10 times and now it is plugged up to the computer showing an apple and turning back off. i love my iphone but i cant do this mess.

HT201365 I tried to restore the backup to my Iphone but I can get the "find my Iphone to turn off
After the latest update to my Iphone, I had to remove my music to make room for the download. After the download I went to Itunes to restore my playlists and it stated I needed to turn off the "Find my Iphone". I went to settings/icloud and the "find my phone" is showing 'on' but it's greyed out and I can not access it.
I think it is asking for the password for your encrypted backup.

I get a sim card not supported just after I have upgraded to the latest software offer by apple for my Iphone. It is requesting my to insert the sim card that came and I am afrid that may not be possible now. I have it it the card that was use earlier before the upgrade.
That indicates yourphone was hacked to unlock it before you upgraded. It has either now (best case) re-locked to the carrier it was originally locked to, or (worst case) become a brick.
