HT201441 I bought an ipad from a pawnshop and its linked to a previous owners apple ID. They said that they can't find the person to get their password. What can I do, or is it now just a paperweight?

I recently bought an iPad from a pawnshop and when I go to set it up it keeps asking me to sign in with a previous owners ID and password. How can I bypass this, as the person is no longer reachable to get the password from. Please tell me this isn't a paperweight now?!

Without their password you have a brick. You should take it back to the shop, who shouldn't have sold it to you in this condition.
