Hello everyone. First of all please accept my appologies in case im posting to the wrong place. I bought an iphone 5 used, like half year ago on ebay and now it stopped turning on. I browsed for troubleshooting on expresslane and came up to the page where it offered to mail phone to apple for repair. I decided to do that but on a certain step i got a message "Sorry but we cant create a repair while Find my iPhone is active. Youll need to turn off Find My iPhone and retry this serial number." Well i knew i never turned this feature on personally, it appears that the previous owner did that and never erased this feature before selling and i never checked for that before using. I even never installed any apps of any kind. Decided to contact ebay seller to ask if they could turn the feature off. They appeared to be wholeasalers who resell used devices and never keep a record of what they buy and sell. Contacted Apple telephone support, they confirmed that the only way device could be serviced is to turn the feature off. A vicious circle. Dead end? Any thoughts?

Activation lock may lead to many such scams if people insist on buying used from unknown parties. Someone steals someone else's phone, sells it online, and of course, it is blocked from being restored and activated by the original owners perfectly legitimate use of Activation Lock. -
I have a macbook pro and an Iphone, but when I look for them in find my iphone, I see them in different accounts, WHY?
Could they be signed onto iCloud with different Apple IDs?

Hello, someone stole my sons IPhone today in his gym class. I have the "find my iphone app" on my phone BUT he is not a listed device. I went into his itunes account and downloaded the "find my iphone app" app under his account. When I try to log into "find my iphone" under his name on my device I get an error msg involving icloud......he is MUCH better at this stuff then I am BUT he is in school and now I need to figure out how to use the "find my iphone app". PLEASE HELP
It doesn't matter whick account you use to download the app.
You have to sign into the app (or iCloud.com from a web browser on your computer) with his Apple ID & password.
Find My iPhone will only work if it was enabled in the iCloud settings on the device and it was powered on with a connection to the internet -

If you can't get your password reset via that page then try contacting Support in your country, they should be able to reset it for you.

What you mean by 'buy and create a new id', it's free to create iTunes accounts. But until you've logged out of your existing account, you won't be able to log into a new account. -
I have forgotten to turn off the FIND MY iPhone appplication before i reset up the phone, Now it's asking me to verify with apple or icloud ID but when i entered the same ID which was registered with itune & icloud, It says INCORRECT. It's been already 03 days, I am asking help with apple care centre, UAE, Head qurter, UK, USA but they are just sending me a link to reset up which still doesn't work. I had called Dubai authorised care cantre. They asked my apple serial & IMEI number, They said ' the serial number is based on USA support but i bought in retail shop in UAE, They are also helpless. I m not receiving any authentication email even it says that email has been sent, & trtied to verify my birth date & all then it says

After all, I am just putting the same id & password, It says INCORRECT.

My iPad was lost today. I am using the Find My iPhone app, but it is not showing on the device list or the map (though my iPhones, even one that is not iCloud enabled, is). What can I do?
The only thing you might do is enable Lost Mode, which will allow you to set a passcode on it (as well as a message and phone number where you can be reached) so it will be locked when and if it does go online. You can also receive an email informing you if it goes online so you can track it on icloud.com. See http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f0165.
In the meantime, you may want to change your passwords. -
I've done everything I know in order to get my calendar in iCloud synchronized with my macBook, my IPad and my iPhone, but get no success. I've checked if all devices are set to the same account. Can you help me?
The only thing I can see strange is that when I login my iCloud account through my principal email address, when I check my preferences is marked an @me.com address that is old and I don't use it anymore, but I can't erase it or even change it.

I have an IPhone 4, and I wanted to reset it, but couldn't do it via computer because the "find my IPhone" was turned on. So I went to ICloud > Find My IPhone and just erased my phone from there. The was acting weird but I finally got to a black screen with the spinning circle. And it won't advance. I can't just hold the sleep button and home button down because my sleep button is broken! Any help? I have reset my phone before.

IF the device does NOT have a cracked screen or liquid damage and is in hardware warrenty.. apple can repair/replace the device for free.

I had my iPhone 5c stolen this Tuesday afternoon while I was at the beach. Immediately after I noticed it missing I called the phone and it was off. I called the phone continuously later that night but it remained off. I did not use the Find my iPhone app until the following morning, however.
The phone has said offline for 2 days now. I'm wondering...is it reasonable to assume that eventually the phone will get turned back on and I will get a location? Or do thieves have ways around this? I do have a passcode on my phone. Once the phone is turned on to the locked screen, is it connected to the internet?
I filed a police report but the police seem to be pretty disinterested in helping me recover my phone. I literally got this thing on Monday and had it stolen Tuesday the next day. I was so excited about my new phone so I realize now I was texting like a little girl out there and probably was an easy target. Never bringing anything of value to the beach again, thats for sure.i m also put passcode in my iphone...but i dont know that how i know that my passcode is crack by someone???and same as police is not interested to find out it..

I unfortunately just got my IPhone 4s stolen.I thought I had the find my iPhone enabled but I didn't because I cannot locate the phone when I sign in ICloud.I have a password on the phone but i'm not sure if I turned on the option where the phone resets if you incorrectly put the password more than ten time. I immediately called my phone company (Verizon) and reported the phone stolen.So I know whoever took the phone cannot place calls or use the phone. But can they still access my data on the phone if they manage to unlock the phone? If so how can I erase all data on the phone so the thief can't access my personal information? is there any other way other than Find my IPhone to wipe off the data on the phone? I really don't want my personal information such as pictures, text messages, notes and social networks profile available to a stranger!!? Help please!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your phone! I understand the need for an active device. You are able to activate an old device and process an insurance claim for your iPhone 4s within 60days from the incident date. Keep in mind if the old phone is not a smartphone and you currently have unlimited data that feature will fall off. If you have a tier data plan no changes will be made. since moving to iCloud, my mobileme email works ONLY on my iPhone, but not on my PC with Outlook. I get an error message indicating the authentication is not accepted.
To anyone who has viewed this post and is having similar difficulties, the answer came on a different forum: I dragged & dropped the files from Mail to iCloud Drive. Opened them on my MB Air, they were saved in Templates and are now accessible across all my devices.
