  • HT201442 Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"

hello guys... wanted to upgrade fiphone 4S from an old firmware (5.0.1) to anything above 6 ... keep getting
Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
any help would be appreciated....thanks in advance

That error code is normally for phones that have been jailbroken or you are trying to install an iOS that you downloaded from somewhere on the internet besides Apple.

  • HT201442 My phone wont restore. It is showing error 3194. How do I fix this?

My battery went flat. I charged the phone (Iphone 5) up again and tried to open using my fingerprint. Got a message that I needed to enter the PIN because it was restarting. Entered the PIN - a number engraved on my mind for years - but it would not accept it. Got locked out.
Followed Apple support's on-line help to the "T" , but now have a phone that won't restore.
Phoned Apple. There's no-one there until tomorrow morning.
Any ideas what to do, please? Other than bin every Apple product in the house (which I feel like doing after one problem after another for the last two weeks).
    Thanks
Oh - and yes....Am i the only person who doesn't understand the Apple jargon? I just want a phone that works. It isn't my hobby. I have better things to do than mess about with this rubbish.

Thanks again. The second time I tried to restore I got error 3004.
My first problem was that the passcode was not accepted and I got locked out. I followed the support instructions (the same ones you have shared with me on your link). Everything was synced/backedup to i-tunes. (Took 40 minutes or so). When i tried to restore, I got the error 3194 message.
I am at my wits end with this.....It is a phone supplied by my employer to replace an i-phone 4 that I had for two years without any problems. I got the new phone two weeks ago and followed the backup instructions then but the backup lost all of my contacts (business colleagues and clients numbers I had builkt up over the years) and I spent more than 16 hours the week before last on the phone to Apple trying, without success, to get them back. Hence my tetchiness about Apple.
Today's problem feels like adding insult to injury and will undoubtedlky eat into a huge chunk of my limited time. Come back BlackBerry, all is forgiven!
Thanks for trying to help. If you have any other ideas, I would be very grateful.

What is error 3194 for Iphone 3GS? How to fix it?

This usually occurs if your iTunes vesion is out of date, when your device has been hacked in attempt to downgrade the iOS or you used hacking software such as tinyumbrella that altered you computer hosts file.

WHAT DO I DO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ERROR 3194?

Well, if you didn't keep it in your iTunes library, on your computer, & then back that data up, you're out of luck if it's no longer available in the App store.
Apple warns to backup your purchases for this very reason.

  • HT201442 My appple tv shows recovary mode..and after updating it shows an error " iOS: Restore error 3194 or 'This device isn't eligible for the requested build "

My apple tv shows recovary mode in itune.
when I update it on windows 7 laptop through itune it shows an "restore error of 3194".
What is that error And how can I fix it and use apple tv again

This device is not eligible for the requested build (Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194")
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw)below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • HT201442 TS4451: Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"

Received an error which sent me a Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build" with instructions to fix it.  Opened the terminal, ran the command, and entered my password, but there was no line with gs.apple.com.  I'm quite frustrated; it seems if I can resolve this I will have another 8 hours downloading iOS8!  I have an iPhone5 which I supposed to be compatible with iOS8, and an running OSX Mavricks 10.9.4 and iTunes 11.4 (18)
