HT201442 Manual upgrade of iPad2 (A1396) is failing with 3194

Hello,
I tried to update my iPad2 from iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) to iOS 7.0.4 manually, I downloaded the restore file for A1396 and ran a manual update, but the installation is failing with 3194 error. Using latest iTunes (11.1.4.62) & iTunes is also allowed in firewall settings (Symantec Endpoint protection). I'm using a Lenovo Thinkpad i5 Win 7 64 bit for connecting to my iPad2. Once I could see the error details that was sent to Apple - it had some log message that some hash code is not matching. Did anyone come across similar situation/ error? Any help will be highly appreciated, thanks.
Regards

Hello,
I could grab the error text - apologies for posting such a large text. Any idea why I'm getting below problem?

  • Post Upgrade to R2: Task Sequence Fails with 0x80070057

one SCCM 2012 server for a while now (June/July of 2013) and have had no issues with OSD's and software deployments.  Today I decided to upgrade to R2 from CU3 and I thought the upgrade process went really well.  But after the upgrade
I attempted to perform an OSD & it failed with error 0x80070057 before the Task Sequence selection.
I had that problem ages ago when I first started using SCCM, but that was due to a missing boundary group.  I got that straightened out in June/July of 2013 and, OSD's & software deployments have been working fine since.
All the boundary groups are still defined
All the boundaries are still defined
The specific boundary this machine is in has a site system defined

    Hello,
I'm trying to update an ASM 10g to Grid infrastructure.
Actually I have a DB wich run with ASM both on 10.2.0.4 on a Windows 2008 R2 server 64 bits.
And try to upgrade with the 11gR2 Grid Infrastructure.
Both the ASM instance and DB are stopped, ans i also try with the listener stop and even without listener.
When I run the Grid's setup, it suggest me to make a Upgrade of Grid Infrastructure, it auto detect the current ASM instance INS-40413 Existing ASM insctance detected
The install is OK but when it should Configure Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a Standalone Server, it stop with the INS-20802 Grid Infrastructure Configuration failed.
Here is the last line of the log.

    Hello,
I opened a SR yesterday afternoon, still pending.
I'm doing an upgrade Single Installation, yestersay I try again, do exactly the same things and the step failed at the Automatic Storage Management Configuration Assistant with the same error INS-20802
    But the log file says
INFO: Read: Configuring ASM failed with the following message:
INFO: Read: Configuring HA resource failed. The following error occured:
INFO: Read: PRCR-1079 : Failed to start resource ora.asm
INFO: Read: CRS-2674: Start of 'ora.cssd' on 'ludbs115' failed
INFO: Read: CRS-5804: Communication error with agent process
    INFO: Read:
INFO: Completed Plugin named: Automatic Storage Management Configuration Assistant
The OracleOHservice is Started and the check has says that the service is online but a crsctl check css return CRS-4530 Communications failure contacting Cluster Synchronization Services Daemon.
In the upgrade with asmca step by step, it says that doing a stop/start of has can resolve the issue but not here.
    I keep searching.
    Thank you
    Anthony

  • TM Backup failed with error: 11 -  when copying Movie, image, music files

TM giving backup errors (for a long time unsolved until I read forum entry about monitoring events with Console prog.) Recently upgraded from 10.5.4 to 10.5.6 with Combo package (attempts at upgrade to 10.5.5 failed with "unknown error")
I narrowed down to the file types listed by excluding relevant erring folders. TM backup works OK now but without Movies, Photos, Music and small number of applications that appear to fail mainly on copying an image within appl.
Using Console with "backupd" filter on LOG FILES/system.log (while executing TM backup) gives the following 4 samples of errors:

Yeah, many of us would love it! But no such thing exists, at least not that us mere mortals can find.
There might be another variable that I don't understand right now but at least it is consistent.
Could it be something funky in the name of one of the folders? Or could the folder object itself be corrupt? Or have some odd extended attribute?

  • Upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1 failed with C0000022, unable to repair or rollback

    I attempted to upgrade my desktop PC from Windows 8 (Pro, x64) to Windows 8.1, using the "Update via the Windows Store" download method. The update failed, and now I can't use the PC. I cannot find any way to repair the Windows 8.1 installation;
nor can I find any way to roll back to the old (functional) Windows 8 installation. I've searched the web for answers, and chatted with MS Support staff, and still no resolution yet. Any assistance to regain a functional system would be greatly appreciated.
    Details
The PC is a decent spec box. No longer high-spec, but still well above the minimum requirements:
    6Gb DDR3-1333 RAM
    Intel Core i5-750 CPU
256Gb SSD drive as the primary Windows system partition (C:) with plenty of free space
1Tb HDD as a second partition for User data (D:) with plenty of free space
    DVD drive (E:)
    NVIDIA GTX260 graphics card
    Logitech USB keyboard
    Logitech USB optical mouse
An older webcam & printer that required some manual driver updates to function on Win8 (everything else worked out-of-the-box).
The PC was running Windows 8 Pro (64-bit, clean install) without any issues, for at least four months prior to the upgrade. Before that, it was running Windows 7 (x64, probably Ultimate but I forget) again without any issues.
All Windows versions are legit MSDN installs (I am a subscriber). I've also seen other install issues in this forum related to ZoneAlarm - I have never installed ZoneAlarm so that is not a factor here.
    The Win8 to Win8.1 Upgrade
A couple days prior to the upgrade, I enabled Client Hyper-V on the box. Did all the restarts & everything, and it looked like it worked successfully. Windows 8 still functioned as expected afterwards. I never got around to setting up an actual VM though.
Probably a red herring; just mentioning it in case it could be relevant.
Immediately before doing the upgrade, I manually snapped a System Restore point.
Installing the upgrade seemed to take an incredibly long time. I think it is supposed to restart a couple of times... it was maybe six hours or so between the first and second restart.
After the second restart, it flashed an error message for a split second. I was able to catch the message (on a subsequent restart) by filming the monitor & freeze-framing. The message is "Fatal error C0000022 applying update operation 2 of 758
(amd64_ava...)". I'm curious why this is dying on and amd64 file, for an Intel chip?
After flashing that message, it proceeds to a screen where it says "Getting Windows ready. Don't turn off your computer". I left it on that screen for at least 12 hours, but it never proceeded or changed. Strong suspicion it has locked up at this
    point.
Subsequent restarts just result in it locking up at the same point.
Loading the WinRE from the original Windows 8 install disc does not help. The snapped restore point can't be found; and the "Startup Repair" option fails with the message ""Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC". The logfile SrtTrail.txt
states "Root cause found: The operating system version is incompatible with Startup Repair" which seems to indicate the system now thinks it is 8.1, not 8.
Loading the WinRE from a Windows 8.1 install disc (MSDN) does not help. The snapped restore point can't be found; and the "Startup Repair" option fails with the message ""Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC". The logfile SrtTrail.txt
states "Root cause found: Boot status indicates that the OS booted successfully" which doesn't seem like a helpful error message.
How can I get a functional OS back (either finish the upgrade, or roll it back)? What additional diagnostic steps could I perform that would assist in finding & fixing the root cause here?
A minor version bump of an OS should not brick a functional system! I would prefer not to do a full clean install as that would mean days of reinstalling & reconfiguring all my other (non-app store) apps, settings, etc... but if there is no other option,
it is a last resort. Of course if it comes to that, I may as well just try Linux instead...

OK, so Microsoft support were eventually able to resolve this. Details:
Apparently a few other tools are also available in WinRE (including RegEdit). This can be useful for connecting to a hive from the previous O/S, to inspect keys etc.
Windows 8.1 really, REALLY does not want to let you boot into Safe Mode, especially if it thinks you are part-way through an install. Usual boot-time key combinations would not work. Options from install disks would not work. The only way we could make
this happen was (on tech support's explicit instructions) to
physically yank the power cable out of the box, while it is booting, three times in a row. Apparently that is the magic combination to fool the system into loading safe mode.
Once in Safe mode, tech support went through the process of disabling/enabling devices and services one at a time, to identify the root cause: the NVidia driver. The version I had installed was from October 2013... foolishly I had assumed it would support
Windows 8.1 because the driver was only 2 months old, but apparently not. Anyway, updating the driver to the latest version resolved the issue, and (eventually) allowed the install to complete & get a functional system back.
I'm recording all the details here, in the hope that it may help someone else (particularly if you are not fortunate enough to have access to Tech Support).
Also, if any Microsoft staff are reading this, I would like to make the following points:
Yank the power cable out during the boot, three times in a row, just to access Safe Mode?
Are you freakin kidding me? It is 2014 and this is your latest, greatest flagship product. I should not have to risk physical damage to the power supply or PC itself JUST TO ACCESS SAFE MODE. Yes, you should be embarrassed.
Something I mentioned earlier that I want to revisit - a minor OS version upgrade should not brick a user's system. If there is a chance of that happening, you should take reasonable steps to assist the user in preventing that from happening. Using
this example, the first step in the upgrade process could've checked the computer for all the installed drivers & their versions, and then compared them against a list of known drivers & versions for compatibility, warning the user where appropriate
before proceeding with the install ("your xxx driver is known to be incompatible with Win8.1, upgrade it then try again" if it's on the blacklist; maybe "your xxx driver is not known to be compatible with Win8.1,
proceed at your own risk" if it is not on the whitelist). I accept that you cannot hope to cover every possible version of every possible driver, and that it is (theoretically) not your job to ensure other folks software is compatible with the OS. However
you could at least make the effort to blacklist/whitelist the obvious ones... with graphics cards you really only have a choice of NVidia, ATI and Intel. Helping users to avoid bricking their systems will at least make your software seem less user-hostile.

my window 7 home prermium pc, resulting in me having to try it manually download and install,
this also failed leaving my I tunes not working, I tried restore back to a
safer date, but every time it tried to update it failed. eventually it told me
to delete and reinstall, this fails due to the apple mobile device service
failing to start, and asking me if I have sufficient privileges to start system
service, I have tried all suggestions on iTunes page, ie delete everything to
do with apple, and start as administrator, nothing works, help please

I too have tried the latest iTunes (12.1.1.4) in Win7. I did a search for latent drivers as you noted but found none. I am glad it worked for you - I'm still no-joy at this point. I'm able to install AMDS over and over again, without issue - it just doesn't start then iTunes launch fails with Error 7. I have to manually remove it.
I am able to connect my iPhone via USB cable and access my photo storage on the phone. I am just not able to install iTunes anymore. I have attempted resolution to this issue for almost two months now. Until that time, I was content with what was installed. It was only when the proverbial update box appeared that I attempted to 'update' my iTunes. WHAT A MISTAKE putting blind faith into an Apple request to update. I SUGGEST NOT TO UPDATE YOUR ITUNES IF IT IS RUNNING PROPERLY!
I realize now, once again I might add, my reliance on software provided by others. It's like anything else, I shouldn't rely on just one method for anything. Time to search for a more pleasant alternative than Apple. Truly, when it worked, it was good at its job, but now that I am wasting time I am looking seriously at upgrading to another type of smartphone and media management software. Way too much trouble for anything as simple as this should be. I wonder, is this a result of another feud with Microsoft?

  • Problem to upgrade my Ipad2 to IOS 7.0.2.

I tried to upgrad my Ipad2 to IOS 7.0.2. this weekend without success. When the Ipad had been downloading the software via WiFi for a while it asked me to connect to Itunes which I did. After "extracting software" in Itunes for a while I get the error message (9) on my computer. I have also tried to restart the Ipad by pressing the two buttons but the Ipad only comes back to the same screen asking for connection to Itunes. Anyone having the same problem and any tips for a solution?

    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • HT201210 Problem upgrading my ipad2 to OS5 using my laptop runnung Vista.

i am trying to upgrade my ipad2 to OS5 using my laptop running Vista. It keeps saying failed due to not enough space on my hard disk. My C drive is full but i have more than 90GB on my partitioned D drive. Is there anyway i can use this available space to upgrade my os and to syn my apple devices?
For unknown reason, extending the volume on C drive is not an available option on my system. Anyone can help?

NOt sure if this will work
Open iTunes, go to edit, preferences, advanced
there you'll see the ability to change the iTunes location for the storage of data. See if it'll allow you to change your iTunes location or cache to your D drive. (I don't have a separate partition to experiment with to see if it'll work)

When I try to manually backup my ipad2, I receive an error message stating "There was a problem completing the backup.  Please try again later" ... and this happens each time I try to back up.  Grateful for suggestions ...

Seems to be a common enough problem. I've deleted the partial failed backup from iCloud, restoring all 5Gb of storage. Then started a manual backup. After about 20 minutes I get the same error message. I have repeated this several times. According to my iTunes on my laptop I managed one backup to iCloud from there but it is pointless if u can neither backup to or restore from iCloud via my iPhone 4. I had hoped ios 5.0.1 would solve this glitch but ....
So much for "it just works".
I have yet to see any suggested fix that works for me. Any other suggestions?

  • I upgraded to iPad2 from original. How do I get rid of original iPad info on computer so I can synch computer with iPad2 info?, I upgraded to iPad2 from original. How do I get rid of original iPad info on computer so I can synch computer with iPad2 info?

I gave my daughter my original iPad when I upgraded to iPad2. I deleted iTunes and Quick Time from my computer thinking it would get rid of the old info from the original iPad.  I reinstalled iTunes and Quick Time and tried synching my new iPad2.  It downloaded the old info from my original iPad to my new iPad2 and now it calls my new iPad2 Linda's iPad.  How do I get rid of all the old info and just have my new iPad2 info? I don't mind that it put somethings from my original iPad (movies, books, some - not all - my music, etc). I can't even synch the bluetooth of the iPad2 to the bluetooth of my PC (I think it's all related somehow).

Why would you not want to keep all of the data, apps, music, photos etc that you had on your first iPad on your new iPad? Don't you want to keep all of that content? You bought the apps, music etc with your iTunes account I would assume so why not keep them?
Deleting iTunes simply removes the application from your computer - not the content in your iTunes library.
If you want to rename your new iPad - connect to your PC - launch iTunes - double click on the iPad name on the left side of the iTunes window and you can type in the new name. Then hit the return key on your keyboard.
    How to rename your device....

Sync the Bluetooth of the iPad2 to your PC? You can't sync the two devices via Bluetooth. You pair devices via Bluetooth but that would do no good for you anyway. You can't transfer content from the iPad to the PC via Bluetooth.
