What does the (MM) on the end of a model mean?

It's the screen orientation lock. It prevents the screen from switching between portrait and landscape views when you turn the iPod.
To engage or disengage this feature, double click the home button. This will bring up the multitasking tray. Swipe all the way to the left until you see the iPod controls, then tap the gray icon with the lock on it. This will toggle the feature on and off.

  • HT1695 what does hsdpa indicates on the status bar on my IPhone 4s?

what does hsdpa indicates on the status bar on my IPhone 4s?

It's a type of cellular network that is supported by the iPhone.
High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is an enhanced 3G (third generation) mobile telephony communications protocol in the High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) family, also dubbed 3.5G, 3G+ or turbo 3G, which allows networks based on Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) to have higher data transfer speeds and capacity. Current HSDPA deployments support down-link speeds of up to 42 Mbit/s. Further speed increases are available with HSPA+, which provides speeds of up to 337 Mbit/s with Release 11 of the 3GPP standards.[1]

  • What does apple do if the ipod is 2 weeks old and was stolen then found but damaged

What will apple do for you if what does apple do if the ipod is 2 weeks old and was stolen then found but damaged

If the damage is due to a manufacturing defect, they will unquestionably replace it.  If the damage was caused by misuse or mishandling, such as dropping, Apple is obliged to do nothing.  Your best bet is to go to the Genius bar at an Apple store and explain what happened, perhaps they will replace the iPod.  Also, If you bought your iPod with a credit card, check with your card company.  Some cards provide Purchase Protection insurance which will replace or repair any item lost, stolen or damaged within 90 days of purchase.

Thanks.  I used an Apple in 79-81, and got the first PC in EDS (Ross Perot) in Jan, 82.  Installed corporate email in 83.  Now have 4 pcs in a house of 2 people, supporting our 5 kids and 15 grandkids.  The iPad is what it took to get my wife to use her own email address.  I should have known about the red circle - my bad.  I did get fixed with a reset.  Vern Olson

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
From your description "little circle with a line in it", that sound like a symbol when you are trying to do a cannot do operation.
What exactly are you doing in your edit activities when you see this circle with a line in it? Is it at the end of the mouse cursor?
Can you post a screenshot of it?
If my first impression of what this is happens to be correct, then "How do I get rid of it?" answer comes from
    a. defining what you want to do
    and
    b. correcting any mis-steps you are taking in doing that
We will be watching for your follow up.
    Thanks.

What does a flashing folder icon with a "?" inside mean?

Question (?) Mark, Blinking Folder, or Gray Screen at Startup
These are related but not identical issues. Their causes are outlined in Intel-based Mac- Startup sequence and error codes, symbols. Solutions may be found in:
A flashing question mark or globe appears when you start your Mac
Mac OS X- Gray screen appears during startup
In most cases the problems may be caused by one or more of these:
    a. Problem with the computer's PRAM - See Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM.
    b. Boot drive's directory has been corrupted - Repair with Disk Utility.
    c. Critical system files are damaged or deleted - Reinstall OS X.
    d. The disk drive is physically non-functional - Replace the hard drive.
Note that the information I have provided is what Apple recommends, If other users suggest different solutions than found here, then be sure what they recommend does not impact on your warranty, if any, or ability to get continuing Apple service.
Please don't start removing drives or changing cables unless you know what you are doing and have exhausted other non-invasive alternatives outlined here. If you perform any work yourself that is unapproved by Apple, then you will void any warranty you may have and lose all further Apple Support.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
The main difference if you are using Lion or Mountain Lion is that you must first boot from the Recovery HD. Simply boot from the Recovery HD to perform the above.

    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing The Drive

Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

what does convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps mean?

    pattyfromsyracuse wrote:

Some people, myself included, import their music from original audio CDs. When doing so I choose to import using Apple Lossless format so as to keep the full original quality of the audio CDs (this is after all why it is called Apple Lossless format in that you are not losing any quality).
The drawback of doing this is that the music files take a lot more disk space than a lossy format like MP3 or AAC. This is these days not a problem on a computer as hard disk space is now cheap an plentiful but it can be a problem on a flash memory based music player like the iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano, iPod Touch, or iPhone as these have far less capacity.
Therefore Apple now let you turn on this option to automatically convert from Apple Lossless to AAC when syncing to one of these music players. As a result on your computer the music is still kept in the full lossless high quality format, but is converted and transferred as a much smaller but slightly lower quality for use on these music players. As with an iPod you are not listening in a quiet room with high quality speakers you will not really notice the difference in quality.

  • What does 'ipod cannot be synced. duplicate file name specified' mean?

what does 'ipod cannot be synced. duplicate file name specified' mean?

I'm having the same issue. Old ipod 160 gig worked for years; it crashed. I bought a new "used" ipod. It starts reading all my music and syncs a few songs then crashes. I get the same screen you do about duplicate, etc. Very frustrating. I'm downloaded the new iTunes (not impressed). I've tried unchecking most of my music to see if that would help but it didn't. Any suggestions? Thanks

What does the (MM) stand for ie:wi-fi+cellular (MM)?

I don't know what the "MM" stands for specifically, but those are the CDMA models, A1455 for the mini and A1460 for the 4th-gen iPad Retina.

  • ApplyJRF - what does it do in the background?

Is there some documentation on the procedure and what it does? If you give me a link and it is directed to a blog I probably cannot get to it from my job. :(
Basic questions on the direct I am looking for:
Is there a package that gets extracted to the wls libraries? If so, what are those libraries? If not, what does it do to wls configuration that makes the jrf accessible to the wls?
    Thanks for helping!

The JDeveloper/ADF OTN forum users will be better equipped to help you understand JRF and I encourage you to post there - it's not a core part of WLS, but part of the upper-stack Oracle products that use WebLogic Server. Sorry I can't help you more.

    Photoshop General Discussion

The first time you try to send an email using the adobe mail server (for all but a very limited number of email clients that adobe allows), you must request a verification code from adobe. It rarely actually arrives, but check your spam filter for it after you send the request.
