HT201475 Can you download Yosemite at an Apple Retail Store

Are you able to download Yosemite at an Apple retail Store, like you could with Mavericks?
Thanks in advance

Hi ..
Yes. You can take your Mac to an Apple Store  and they will download Yosemite for you.
You can make a Genius Bar reservation in advance >   Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Before you head off to an Apple Store, make sure your Mac meets Yosemite's requirements   Apple - OS X Yosemite - How to Upgrade
As with any upgrade, make sure to backup all your important data prior to upgrading.

iTunes on a computer and then a sync, or the App Store app on the device are the only ways of installing apps on iOS devices.

  • Can't Download Yosemite OS on Mac App Store

When i click download, then comes a pop up that tells me, i can't download yosemite
I installed Yosemite Developer Preview 3 on developer site
but when i check on about my mac it said i'm on Yosemite Beta

And I cannot find the latest version of iPhoto on the App Store that the system requires, and it shows "The item you've requested is not currently available in the U.S. store.". I am desperate to find a way to recover my iPhoto data because I was investing so much on it that there are so much photography that I cannot lose. If you know anything about this, please please help me out! Thanks!!
To be able to help with this part of the question, it would help to know your current iPhoto version, and if you bought it from the AppStore.
With Yosemite MacOS X 10.10.3 you need iPhoto 9.6.1. This version is only sold at the AppStore, but right now, you can no longer purchase it:
When searching the App Store for iPhoto I get:
But if you own a version of iPhoto 9.x.x, you should be able to update or reinstall it from the Purchases tab or the Update tab.
iPhoto may be hidden on your Purchases tab.
You may need to unhide your purchases.  Also try the "Updates" tab at the App Store.
See this post by Tom Perkins:
Re: how do i sort albums by date in the new photos app?
I just went through the situation of not finding iPhoto 9.6.1 in the App Store. Working with Applecare, the solution was to (a) delete the iPhoto app, (b) restart my iMac, (c) go to the App store and click on Purchases, and (d) reinstall iPhoto. In my case, for some reason, iPhoto was hidden from my purchases.  Go to Store > View My Account, and go to Manage for Hidden Purchases, where you can unhide iPhoto.  Once I did that, things seemed to work okay.

  • How can you download Yosemite to a location other than Launchpad?

I am trying to make a bootable USB drive of Yosemite. When I download Yosemite from the App Store it goes into Launchpad. I can't make a bootable backup from this application. How do I get the Yosemite installer to download to my Applications folder instead of Launchpad?
    Mac Pro Mid-2009
    Yosemite
    Thank you!

It does not download to Launchpad. Launchpad isn't a location. It downloads to the Applications folder. Copy the installer to your Downloads folder. Follow these instructions for a bootable flash drive:
How to Make an OS X Yosemite Boot Installer USB Drive
    Or:
Open the Terminal in your Utilities folder. At the prompt copy and paste this entire command line:
    sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite\ Developer\ Preview.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite\ Developer\ Preview.app --nointeraction
You need to have the installer in your Applications folder or change the paths in the above command line. Be sure to label your USB flash drive as, Untitled.

  • Can i install os x mountain lion in apple retailer store instead?

I live overseas and i don't have broadband internet access.
Can i just simply bring my macbook pro late 2011 to apple retailer store and ask them to clean install OS X mountain lion?
i have backed up everything that i need though..

you can most definitely walk into your Apple Retail Store and use their internet! Apple is very cool about those things. I've seen some people just stand and browse the internet for hours while I'm getting something repaired or buying something there. They really don't care. They want you to be in there.
make an appointment to see if they can't assist you further, be sure to bring an 8gb storage device if you want to do a clean install.
if you are using time machine, make sure you verify your backups by holding option and clicking the time machine icon in the toolbar and then selecting Verify Backups.
Be aware that if you plan to just migrate your former backup to ML that a clean install is unecessary and you can just do a regular installation ontop of your system as it is now.

  • Can you download something without setting up Apple I'd. It asks for owner pw.

Can you download to a new MacBook without setting up Apple ID. It asks for owner pw. OS Mavericks was preloaded when purchased.

You need an Apple ID to download items from the Mac App Store. Other than that the only Password that may be required is the Administrator password when installing it.
If the computer was bought second hand, unless the computer was originally sold by Apple with OSx Mavericks pre-loaded, you have no license to use an OS associated with someone else's Apple ID, and you would have to format the computer, and install the original OS.
Any reason you don't want to create an Apple ID?

  • Can I download Yosemite onto a thumb drive and install it on snow leopard later

can I download Yosemite onto a thumb drive and install it on snow leopard later

    Yes.
Create a bootable installer for OS X Mavericks or Yosemite - Apple Support
Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. Copy and paste the following command line in its entirety into the Terminal window.
    sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite\ Developer\ Preview.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite\ Developer\ Preview.app --nointeraction
Press RETURN, enter admin password (will not echo to the window) then press RETURN again.
You need to have the installer in your Applications folder or change the paths in the above command line.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select
              /var/log ▹ appstore.log
from the hierarchical list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, click the Clear Display button in the toolbar of the Console window and then try the installation again.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Can you download a music DVD to iTunes

I was just wondering can you download a music DVD to iTunes?

    (1) If you're talking about commercial, copyright-protected DVDs, you should be aware that it is illegal in many counties, possibly including yours.
    (2) If you're talking about commercial, copy-protected DVDs, you should be aware that providing advice on breaking copy protection schemes is illegal in the US, where this forum is based; posting such advice would break the forum's ToU, and hosting such advice would make Apple liable to prosecution.
    (3) If you're talking about DVDs which are not copy protected and whose copyright holder gave you the licence to copy them, then you may use Disk Utility. Once copied, you can play the content using DVD Player.
For common DVD, i think hanbrake can meet your needs.

  • Can you download adobe flash to mobile devices, and if so, which ones? Thanks!  l

Can you download adobe flash to any kindles or ipads? I like my facebook game and I can't load it on my new kindle fire hdx. Very dissapointed. Can you download flash on ipads?? If so which ones? Thanks for the help

iPads, which operate on Mac iOS, are specifically incompatible with Flash Player, per Apple design, going back to iOS 1 in 2006. That... will never change... according to Apple.
Kindles and Samsung tablets operate on Android which WAS compatible with Flash Player prior to version 4.0. After that, Android dropped all support for Flash Player (June 2012).
The reasoning for both of these decisions (as Apple stated in 2006) was that playing Flash content is extremely processor consumptive, and it kills batteries, as well as shortening battery life, in mobile devices. It just took Android a little longer to come to the decision to drop support.
Windows phones, 7 and 8 are compatible, and 8 even has Flash Player embedded by Microsoft, like Windows 8 for desktops.
You can find info about "Dolphin" for Android at: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser It seems to be the browser of choice to play Flash content on an Android device. Also, check the Android forums to see what their "gurus" recommend.
For the iPad, check out SkyFire. It seems to be the preferred iOS browser for Flash content.

  • Cannot download yosemite wants other apple id

When first attempting to upgrade from 10.6.8 to Yosemite the computer complained of an inability to repair the disc. A backup was done, the computer's disc was reformatted, 10.6 was installed and the data were restored. Now that the disc tests are clean we can't download Yosemite from the store. It asks us to sign into the account used to purchase (which is the same apple id used to download in the first instance). How do we:
Delete the existing 'purchase' so that we can redownload?
Figure out which account the App Store thinks we used to make the purchase?
Find an alternate method for downloading and installing the software?
    Thanks!

The account was logged in. The message seemed to indicate that there was another account (but there was only one, and the user was logged in).
Update: we've resolve this problem. The original install file was still on the machine, and we've successfully installed Yosemite.
    Thanks for your response!
