HT201493 skip password screen on Find my friends

How can I not have to put in my password eery time I go there?  It says to go to settings.  Is that setings on my phone on the app or both?  And what do I do when I get there.  It appears that the setings they want me to apply are already set that way...

Unfortunately, Find my Friends is only available for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, not for Macs, so you can't use Find my Friends on a computer

I am trying to use Find My Friends and I have been through troubleshooting 3 times. Why won't my location work? Everything is on but the 2nd screen in Find My Friends is grayed out, whereas my other family members 2nd screens are active? I have an iPhone 6 Plus, latest ios8, and yes my location says it is being shared, but it is not.

I decided to try and boot from the Tiger discs, but when I did, all I got was a screen that looked like a blizzard of pixels.
The firmware was likely changed and it's not compatible anymore or the disk is bad.
I was able to boot using the Snow Leopard disc from both my new MBP and my girlfriends MB, but both said that OS X could not be installed on this computer, and I couldn't even use the disc utility to wipe the drive.
Those disks don't have the hardware drivers your machine needs.
Your going to need to get a Snow Leopard retail install disk from Amazon/elsewhere.
Do I need to have a serial number to reinstall OS X?
    Thankfully No.

  • HT201493 When I use the find my friend app Its says ME

When I use the find my friend app to notify me when my wife has left her class it tells me that I have left (John Doe has left) instead of telling me that friend ABC has left.  So if I am checking to see that everyone is on their way and I have Notify activated regardless who its reporting on it say I (John Doe) has left.  In short It just tells me that I have left no matter who I’m checking on.

    Hi slash9492,
You state you configured your iCloud account on your iPhone 5 but the Find My iPhone app says it's not registered.
Did you actually enable Find My iPhone on the phone?
iCloud: Set up Find My iPhone
    Set up an iOS device
On your device’s Home screen, tap Settings, then tap iCloud.
If you’re asked to sign in, enter your Apple ID or, if you don’t have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID, then follow the instructions.
If Find My iPhone (or Find My iPad or Find My iPod) is turned off, tap to turn it on.
Tip: For added security, set up a passcode that needs to be entered before anyone can access the apps and information on your device. To set up a passcode, go to Settings > Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode. If your device has iOS 5 or iOS 6, go to Settings > General > Passcode Lock.
Again, it's under Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone (at the bottom).
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • HT201493 can 2 pepole use find my friends on 2 devices with the same apple id

My wife and I are connected to the same Apple ID we would like to use Find My Friends to follow each other but only one of use shows up on the map,

The app should locate both phones if they are using the same iCloud account and the app is signed into the account.  If they are using different account, sign out, then sign back in with the other account to track the other phone.
If one of them isn't showing and you're signed into the correct iCloud account, go to Settings>iCloud on the phone in question and turn Find My iPhone Off, then back On.

  • HT201493 Can I make multiple find my friends accounts off of one apple id to see my children's locations?

I would like to have my kids' location but we are all on the same apple id. can we make multiple accounts?

Go here: https://appleid.apple.com and create a separate ID for each device.  Then go to Settings>iCloud and set up a different iCloud account on each device using a different ID.  Then launch the Find My Friends app on each device and log in using this iCloud ID.

  • HT201493 Is that right that find my friends is not working with ios7?

Is that right, that find my Friends is not working with ios7?

The location of the device ( iphone, ipad) will only be updated if Find My Friends is running on that device. If FMF is completely quit, that device's location will not be updated. This is a terrible change from before !

  • HT201493 How much data does find a friend use?

I can I gauge how much data I am using for its app

You would have to be running iOS 7 to do that.  If you were, you would go to Settings>Cellular, scroll to the bottom and tap "Reset Statistics", then use the app for a few days and to back to Settings>Cellular and it would show how much data that each app had used underneath the app name (in the "Use cellulare data for") section.

  • The top row of the keyboard of my iPhone 4S, in the password screen, is not responding to my fingers. How do I fix this?

    iPhone 4S
    IOS 7.1.2
This problem occurred after a whole days use of the iPhone without any hitches. I first discovered the problem by unlocking the phone and then swiping to the password screen to find that the top row was not responding to my fingers at all. Because of this I could not type in my password to unlock my phone. I then tried to restore my phone but could not because it needed the phone to be unlocked. I then tried holding down the home and sleep button at the same time until it turned off and on again, but this did not fix the problem. I also tried switching on the Voice Over mode on and trying to unlock the phone through that but of course it didn't work. I have also left it overnight but I was still unable to unlock the phone the next day. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

    *UPDATE*
I have been able to use the Zoom function to zoom in and the keys on the top row no longer are in the non-responsive strip of area.

  • Macbook Pro - Not booting beyond password screen

    Evening!
Last night I turned my MBP off, all had been fine and was working normally and the only thing attached was a Lacie HD via the firewire port.
Tonight I've turned it on and couldn't get beyond the password screen. I've reset the Pram, disconnected the Lacie, booted in safe mode, had the install disk in, checked and repaired permissions, checked and repaired the disk which needed minor repair (first time thats ever happened and this is 3+ years old), it then passed so I rebooted but same result. I've also used Applejack on it and after that occaison it went past the password screen but finder wouldn't start so I clicked on it in the dock which then froze and I couldn't do anything so had to force shutdown.
My password was correct each time - no shaking of the box and the eventual prompt coming up - but each time it just took 20 or 30 secs and then brought the box back up. I've used the startup disk and changed my password and tried it again and now I'm sat with with a solid blue screen and have been for about five mins.
    Has anybody got any ideas??
    Cheers,
    Andy

Can I ask why you say that? Is there something in the description which sets a particular alarm going and you think something terrible is going to happen?
I've booted it via Applejack again and found that pretty much all apps run normally but Finder isn't there and won't start. System Prefs will launch but most options send it into a beachballing world of non-response. The only App that really kicks off is iTunes - saying my library is damaged and I've lost alot of song once it does fire up.
On the basis of those and not really having much else of a clue on what to do I've gone for an Archive and Install. Besides, last time I took to a Genius Bar the attitude I got from the guy on it was hardly pro or tollerable.

  • HT204407 Whenever I open find my friends after 10 seconds it says there's been a failure with my password or apple ID

Whenever I open find my friends after 10 seconds, it says I've entered the incorrect ID or password, I've tried making a new ID and I've deleted it and reloaded it, and various other things and it still seems to come up with the same message. I

Apple IDs once created through My Apple ID can not be deleted by the individuals that created it through the apple id site.
    Or iCloud ID/Email
same steps on reseting the password
So the email address that you use as your Apple iD for which you use to sign into your icloud account, have you Actually went to Appleid.apple.com selected Create Apple ID and used that email address to create yuor Apple ID that you have been using this whole time?
i hope the answer is yes,
and if the answer is Yes, well the message states either Apple ID or Password is incorrect. Well looking at the Apple ID if it indeed is correct then, go to Appleid.apple.com and select Reset password which is located under the blue button that will read Manage Apple ID.
When selecting Reset password follow the information prompted, then you can chose to either
Reset the password by: Answering the Security Questions you set up when creating the Apple id OR
the Email Authentication - which send a reset link to your email address OR if you have a recovery email you entered when creating this Apple ID [AND followed the verification link process and verified it] the reset link will go to your recovery email instead.
otherwise contact AppleCare Account security [be ready to verify your information]

  • HT201493 Do I have to enter my apple ID every time I open Find My Friends? Annoying

Do I have to enter my apple ID every time I open Find My Friends? Annoying

Are you talking the app store on the iPhone?
If you are, it has to do with control of getting the updates and control of downloading new software.  Sometimes there will be an update when someone won't want an update.  Requiring the password would give someone better control over what gets installed.  Or if there's new software, it will give a parent, for example, better control over what gets purchased or even just downloaded, in the case of a free app.
I'm not an Apple employee, but I'm pretty sure Apple doesn't consider it a problem.  They tend to err on the side of caution, especially when money is involved.  Requiring the apple id password every time definitely does that.

  • Why does Find My Friends keep going back to log-on screen in mid-use?

During use, Find My Friends quits and goes back to a log-on screen, which tells me I'm logged in, and tells me that I have passcode lock activated. The only way to get back into the app is to log in again. Then I use it for a few seconds and it goes back to that screen. Very frustrating.

    Hi Writ736!
As a step for basic troubleshooting, you may need to force quit the application and re-launch it to see if the behavior is affected:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
You may also want to try a simple reset on your phone, which is explained here:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

No need for alarm. There are several folks a day posting like threads. Most folks know these phishing attempts for what they are and merely delete with prejudice.
To the bottom line... if you wish - and I am sure Apple will take notice - you should FORWARD the email to [email protected] and delete.
