HT201569 iPod Touch Will not hold a charge anymore

5th ten touch will not hold a charge anymore. Where is the  best place to get it fixed?

If only the battery is bad, Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $79. They do not fix yours.

A third-party place like the following will replace your battery for less. Google for more.

Replace the battery yourself if you are up to it. A replacement battery costs a $20

  • IPod Touch does not hold a charge

I had a 3rd generation iPod Touch that would hold a charge for a long time until suddenly (just before the warranty ran out) it would no longer hold the charge.  I could fully charge it and leave it sit unused for about 3 days and it would be dead.  After much tech support from Apple (we tried restoring original settings, removing all apps, etc., etc., etc.), they sent me a replacement.  The replacement has had the same issue since day 1.  I have now been experimenting with other settings and it seemed to hold the charge a little better when the wifi was turned off, but I always used to leave the wifi on and it didn't drain the battery at all.  What is going on??

The recent iOSs for iPods allow the iPod to do more when the iPod is asleep.  I just leave my Ipod in airplane mode when I am not using it.  My 4G go excellent batter life with the original iOS (4.1 I think).  I could just let it sleep with wifi one.  However, wtih the resent iOSs, the batteyr would almost completly drain overnight.

  • 3rd Gen iPod Battery will not hold a charge

After fully charging my ipod I turn the unit off and lock the unit, the next day I only have about 2/3 battery power left, 2nd day 1/3 and the 3rd day the battery is fully discharged. I just had the battery replaced hoping this would fix the problem but no help

my 3rd gen Ipod will not hold a charge for more than 4 days after it is disconnected from the charger. The Ipod is turned off and locked.
New battery installed and no help

  • My iPod touch will not play or charge on my non apple dock since the software was updated, why is this?

My iPod touch used to play and charge in my non apple dock but now will do neither. Looking back it appears to have stopped working when the software was updated to 5.1. Why is this?

There are two sides to this.  On the one hand, an Apple upgrade bricked your dock and that bites. On the other hand, Apple can't be expected to design around 3rd party devices that don't follow the specifications. We don't know why Apple made this particular change that bricked your dock so it is difficult to judge whether or not there was a good reason behind it.  We also do not know why AIVN didn't follow the specification but it was probably cost related.
Note: If you sell the iPod, you'll still have a non-functioning dock.  You can sell it to someone with an older iPhone or iPod that can't be updated to iOS 5.1.

  • IPod touch will not turn on, charge or do anything.

    Hi everyone,
Yesterday I bought an iPod touch 4G. When I got home, I plugged my iPod into iTunes and synced it all up. It was working for about two hours but then it started to act weird. I would be in the middle of playing a game and it would freeze and not let me do anything. I tried pressing the home button, the lock button and the volume buttons but it just was not doing anything. I decided to put it down and just let it sit for a while. When I came back to it, it started working again but then a few minutes later it did the same thing. I tried to reset it by pressing the home and lock buttons together but that did not work. I put it away again and when I went back to it, it was fine. This happened about four times. The last time I restored it and it was working fine. This morning, it was doing the same thing so I tried to reset it and then restore it again. Nothing worked. I tried to plug it into the computer but it didn't recognize it. When I plug it into the computer now, the Apple logo appears on the screen but it goes back to black almost immediately; it keeps doing this. I have not dropped it or gotten water on it and, like I said, it was just purchased yesterday. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me on this topic.

The same happend to me last night, don't if it was a game update.
Anyway, my iPod would not turn on, connect to windows, etc
My solution was to put it in recovery mode:
    1. connect the ipod to a computer or charger
    2. press and hold the power button for 10 sec
    3. press home button for 10 seconds, do not release the power button yet
    4. after 10 seconds release the power button, keep pressing the home button
    5. when you hear a sound, release the button and wait.
    6. itunes will tell to restore it, do not do anything.
    7. just wait 10 minutes in order to allow the battery to charge, then press the power button or press it for a few seconds
    8. the iPod will restart, all should be normal, no data loss
    HTH

  • Ipod touch will not sync or charge..can anyone help ?

    Hi
my ipod touch is allof a sudden not syncing at all to my computor. (I have installed the latest itunes). It is also not accepting the charge from any charger or lead.
I have tried an option found on a different website which involved holding down the off button, and the home button at different stages, but that has not made any difference...Any ideas ?

This may be helpful.  However, you did specify the surrent condition of the iPod.

  • IPod Touch will not sync or charge on PC

    Hi,
This is the first issue I've ever had with my iPod Touch and I've had it for over three years.
When I go to plug in my iPod Touch to the computer, the computer will beep at me saying that something is connected to the USB port but my iTunes won't pop up, and when I bring up iTunes, my iPod won't even show up on iTunes. It also will not charge when it's plugged into the computer. It charges when I plug it into my player in my bedroom, but not my computer.
Computer did a funny reset a while ago, and I'm wondering if this is an iPod issue or a PC issue.

  • HT1430 My 4th Gen iPod touch will not turn, doesnt charge, and i can't reset in computer because it says it is protected by a passcode, but i cant enter pass code because the screen stays black and won't even light up... What do I do

My 4th gen iPod Touch has had a blank screen for about 3-4 weeks now, it will not turn on, sync, or charge. iTunes recognizes its plugged up, but i cant reset it because it says its passcode protected, but i cant enter passcode due to screen not lighting up or working. How do i fix this?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

  • Fairly new iPod Touch will not sync or charge sometimes

This has been a problem since the day after I received my iPod from Apple.  Sometimes, when I connect my iPod touch (newest generation, 32GB) to a charging outlet, be it either connected to a computer or the wall, I get the "Charging is not supported with this accessory" error.  I've tried it on different cables and the problem persists. Additionally, oftentimes after receiving this error, if I unhook the iPod and then hook it back up again, it fails to recognize the connection at all (neither the computer nor the iPod respond in any way; the iPod doesn't charge or sync, and the computer doesn't notice that it has been plugged in).
I took it to the Geniuses a few days after this happened for the first time.  They inspected the pins on the connector and decided there was no damage to them.  Eventually, they manually closed all of my apps and performed a hard restart and it would connect properly (the guy was even able to plug and unplug it multiple times with it making a good connection every time).  It was decided that the apps had been the problem and I was sent home.  The problem started happening again the day after that and is pretty much a daily occurence, which is problematic because I generally charge my iPod when I get home from work (and thus only have a few hours each night to try and get it to connect succesfully).  Sometimes the hard reset seems to help, other times it is of no use.
I have tried connecting it to different computers (and, as mentioned above, the wall outlet).  I've tried different charging cables.  There doesn't seem to be any pattern to whether or not it's going to charge, and I don't always get the "Charging is not supported..." error either--occasionally it just refuses to react to being plugged in (and as far as I can tell isn't getting a charge without displaying that it is).  Oh, and it isn't jailbroken, or anything else of the sort... pretty much straight from the factory, with about a dozen apps installed from the app store.  And I checked the last time I could get it to connect to my computer: the software is up to date.
Any ideas on what the problem is and what I should do about it?

  • My ipod touch will not turn on, charge, or isn't recognised by itunes or my computer. I've tried most common fixes. Please help!

Hi. Last week, in this hot weather, my ipod (8gb, 4g) started flickering , screen went white and then it died! Left it off for 24 hrs to cool down and eventually it powered up again. Thing is, I needed to charge it and so put it on a dock but it wouldn't charge. Tried a diff dock, ac charger and apple usb cable to my laptop and nothing. Battery nearly completely drained, just get the flashing battery with lightning symbol when I press the on button. Not recognised by itunes or my computer and all the advice says to charge it and try again but mine doesn't seem to be charging despite being on a charger for several hours! Tried pressing on and home keys together for diff periods of time (up to 5 mins once) but still nothing. Not even getting to the apple logo stage Can someone out there please help me??

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    - See:

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My Ipod touch will not turn on,charge or anything for no aparent reason? Did not drop get ,wet or anything else!

Is there anything that might possibly be done to try and fix this? I have only had my touch for about 10 months. It was working fine and when I was using it to take photos it said low battery,I hit ignore took a few more pix then put it away. When I got home I plugged into USB to charge and nothing happened??? The screen is just BLACK-no sign of life at all and it has been plugged in all night! Is it dead? Will it ever turn on again? Is there another way to try and get it to work? If anybody could please help me out with this I would really appriciate it.This was a very expensive toy to only have worked less than a year! I have always taken very good care of it,its never been dropped, gotten wet,or manipulated in any way.I have always used a cover and screen protector! But like a dummy I did NOT get the extended warrenty. Is it garbage now? PLEASE HELP IF POSSIBLE thanks so much!!!!!

Have you tried to Hard reset it (force to boot) by holding the Power button and the Home button both at the same time  for 10 to 20 seconds and once you see the apple logo release them all
-if does not work repeat the same procedure by pluging it you ipod into a wall-charger and if instead you see the battery logo with with the lit across it this would mean that you need to charge it
this is a typical problem that  happen when the battery is complety drained out
-keep in mind if you finally triger the system to make the battery logo appear you good to go !!!

My newish ipod touch will not hold a charge. I make sure all apps are closed, and turn it off and just sitting unused it will be dead within a day. Help?

If by "off" do you just mean asleep with wifi on?  That is not that unusual with iOS 5. To increase battery life see:
