HT201617 does downloading from itunes use my home internet data??

does downloading from itunes use my home internet data??
in other words, does it contribute to my download limit?

All transactions through the home internet (be it your wi-fi base, or wired Ethernet) would be
the same total on the monthly limits for that service. However the costs for downloads via
your home network and ISP, may be less than using a cellular network and data rate/limits.
Depending on what the product is, in use for these iTunes downloads. An iPad, iPod, or
iPhone that can be set to use wi-fi from non-cellular sources, gives you an option, so it
could be used to go online with those, anywhere; including free sources instead of one
of the cellular plan giants.
So I am not sure what other parameters your question is meant to address.
Could you clarify the situation a little better, to specify if only an ISP is the
main or only source of internet, or if there's some other device involved..?
I know that if I stream or run a live music feed from the iTunes player and just listen to any
free channels for hours on end, it would certainly run my internet into overage - and it may
prompt the service provider to limit my bandwidth as part of a penalty in addition to adding
extra charges per GB over a set limit, that I'm over. There is that ceiling...
However, if you have a supposedly "unlimited" account, there may also be ways a provider
could go further to make it harder for you to keep using it as 'unlimited' since their side may
see those as potential money-losers. To have streaming video over internet would really be
a quick way to use any limits and likely garner significant penalties.
The wording in your home or cellular services is probably subject to change so be sure
to read your agreements and see how anything new may affect you or what you pay...
Good luck & happy computing!

  • HT2534 can i download from itunes using debit card in india ?

why is it that only credit cards are authorized to download or purchase songs or movies from itunes store ....... why not debit cards

Again, Apple has not said why they do not allow debit cards, so you will not find an answer why is it so. All we know is that in many countries they do not allow them.

  • HT1657 Renting movies from iTunes without in-home Internet

I don't have Internet at home. Can I download the movie on my laptop and watch it at home later or is the movie streaming?

Rented movies are downloaded and once completely downloaded should play without an Internet connection.  But in some cases, the common factor of which I have yet to determine from the various reports, iTunes insists on connecting to the iTunes Store when you go to play the rental. So while it's probable that you will have no difficulties, you may not be able to play the rental when you get home.
    Regards.

  • Will Home Sharing in iTunes use up my internet bandwidth?

I know this question is often addressed - but I haven't been able to find an answer that necessarily fits my situation:
Airport Express is connected directly to the internet & acts as WiFi transmitter for my two machines. I want to share music using iTunes between these machines (i.e. play music on my laptop while in bed).
Will streaming this music (music stored on the iMac) on my laptop use up internet bandwidth?
I did the "unplug test" and the machines still recognize eachother when the ethernet cable is disconnected.
My fear is that it still somehow will go through the internet if it can.
Not that it matters - but we are using borrowed bandwidth & have been asked specifically to not stream.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Essentially my question comes down to local network versus internet...Does homesharing via iTunes use the shared Internet at all or is it simply a wireless independent network that exists because of the AirPort Express?
If it is in fact independent, it shouldn't affect anyone's internet connection (except maybe other people using the AirPort Express??? but even this seems unlikely) - except mine.
It seems unlikely that my data from one computer would be projected into a cloud-type internet server and then back to another computer when the signal could simply be transmitted via the AirPort device.
This seems to me the obvious transmission path...but I wanted to be certain.
You seem to agree with me but the more we talk about it the more confused I'm getting.

  • My iPod 4G, after reset and iOS 6 install, now has only some album art after syncing music. Even music directly downloaded from iTunes is missing album art. (I'm using iTunes 11.0.1 on Windows Vista)

My iPod 4G, after a reset and iOS6 install, after I recopied and synced music, is missing most album art. Even songs directly downloaded from iTunes are missing album art. I'm using iTunes 11.0.1 on Windows Vista. My iPod isn't full. Whenever I go to "On This iPod" and add album art and sync, nothing happens. Please help :/

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • I am trying to transfer my itunes library from my old Mac to my new Mac; however, all that transfers is the music I downloaded from itunes.  It does not transfer the music I downloaded from my cd's.

How do I transfer my itunes library from my old Mac to my new Mac?  When I try all that transfers is what I downloaded from Itunes.  It does not transfer the music I downloaded from my cd's/.

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
For the record there's this reference for iTunes 11 but it really doesn't strike me as having the specifics you need. iTunes 11 for Mac: Move your library to another computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12168

2011 Transferring your iTunes library - http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive/  - An article with good background information, particularly if you are not sure your media files are all grouped for quick  solution above. Unfortunately it uses the single term "transferring library" for two very different moves; relocating just your media (not recommended unless you really need this configuration) and relocating media+database (really your whole "library").  Make sure you understand the difference before electing to move only media.
If you put it in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

I couldn't get downloads from iTunes to be on the desktop of my Macbook air but they remain in iTunes folder and refuse to open for use. What am I to do?

Downloads of what?  Songs?  Apps?  Books?
If you're talking about apps, then you have downloaded iOS apps which are intended to run on an iPhone or iPad, not a Mac.

If you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the left-hand sidebar on it via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC - when connected (and if your computer's iTunes is up-to-date) your iPad should then appear on that sidebar under a 'Devices' heading :
If you select the iPad on that sidebar you can then use the Movies tab on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to select and sync that film to your iPad's Videos app.
Has your iPad been synced to the computer before ? If not then you might find this page for syncing to a new computer useful : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141

  • Ive had my iPod classic for some time now, and up to now have been using my laptop to sync songs from iTunes.  Unfortunatley, the laptop has died and I'm thinking of buying a iPad.....but how do i now get any songs downloaded from iTunes to my iPod?

I've had my iPod classic for some time now, and up to now have been connecting it to my laptop to sync any downloaded tunes from iTunes.  Unfortunately, the laptop has died and I'm thinking of buying a iPad.....but how do I now get any songs downloaded from iTunes to my iPod?

If an iPod is set to update automatically it will be associated with a particular library. If you connect that iPod to a different computer or a different library on the same computer you get the the message you are referring to. "The iPod "iPod Name"is linked to another another iTunes music library. Do you want to change the link to this iTunes music library and replace all existing songs and playlists on this iPod with those from this library". To use an iPod on multiple computers you change the update method to "manually manage songs and playlists". You can also use multiple iPods on a single computer so you will be able to connect both of your iPods to your existing iTunes. Connect the new iPod and follow the on screen instructions, iTunes will open and update your iPod.
    For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • Why I cant download movies from itunes using 3g?

I am trying to download some series from itunes using 3g but its not working only when I use wifi. The same happens with games from apple store. Is there any limit of size to use 3g?

If you are trying to download on 3G it is just to slow. And some Apps will not download  at all with 3G, they just sit in the "waiting stage".

  • I have a macbook white (Snow leopard), just started using mac, Is there anyway we can use the Iphone Apps( downloaded from ITune) on Mac

I have a macbook white (Snow leopard), just started using mac, Is there anyway we can use the Iphone Apps( downloaded from ITune) on Mac, they are getting saved in Mobile applications and have ipa extension

The operating systems for iOS devices and for Macs are completely different. Applications written for iOS won't run on a Mac no matter what fiddles you try with it. You can sometime extract data by opening the package, but it still won't do you any good. Look in the Mac App Store in your Applications folder to see if there are Mac versions or similar programs (iTunes login required).
