The iPhone is not designed to pair with a computer via Bluetooth. It supports only a very limited set of Bluetooth profiles: iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles - Apple Support
The following has more details: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with my computer?
You may want to look at AirDrop. It does require Bluetooth to be on but the devices do not need to pair: Mac Basics: AirDrop lets you send files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices - Apple Support

• Airdrop Problem between Macbook Air and iPhone 5

Why cant i find my iphone 5 (using ios7), in the airdrop section in my macbook air's (using os x mavericks) finder? My iphone 5 is already set to be visible to everyone. My iphone 5 cant find my macbook air as well. Please help me.

AirDrop for OS X works over Wi-Fi, and AirDrop for iOS works over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so they use different systems.
This means that you cannot use AirDrop to transfer files between an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and a Mac. Instead, you can only use AirDrop on your iPhone to transfer files to other iPhones, iPads and iPods touch, and AirDrop on your Mac to transfer files to other Macs

• PIM Apps that sync between Macbook Air and Iphone

Essentially I'm looking for Outlook that syncs between my laptop and iphone. Is there such an app out there that is functional?

Sorry, I should be more specific. I want to have my calendar, email, address book and to do list all in one app.

• Connection between MacBook Air and iphone 3gs through a hub isn't good

Several times the connection between my computer and iphone has stopped or cancelled saying that the iphone had been disconnected. But nothing had been touched! Why?

Hey,
Plug the iPhone directly into the MBA. If your going to use a hub make sure it's a powered hub, the hub itself should have it's own power cord. If it's powered by the USB port then your going to have issues.
Hope it helps

Is it possible to send files from a MacBook Air 2013 11" OS Maverick to iPhone 5 iOS 7 via AirDrop and vice versa? If not, when such option will be available?
"What is AirDrop for if it can’t be used together with the most popular devices?"
Please, answer asap.

• IMessage stopped syncing between MacBook Air and iPhone 5

Hello,
Until the weekend my iMessages synced between iphone and MacBook Air, but from Monday I have been sending and receiving iMessgaes from my phone which never arrive at the MacBook. I didn't get the iOS upgrade till yesterday so it's not that, and haven't knowingly made any other changes over the weekend. I've checked both setups and both are syncing using my phone number plus 3 email addresses.
Can anyone tell me how to fix it please?

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so:
Apple - My Apple ID
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
Sign out on the iPhone
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
Then, on the phone, tap Use Your Apple ID for iMessage.
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test.

• Email sync problem between iPad Air and iPhone 6+

Hello,
I have a user that travels quite a bit. We use Office 365 Enterprise
for our emails. He is reporting email sync issues between iPhone and iPad. Meaning
sometimes he will receive emails on the iPhone but not on the iPad or vice versa.
Both devices use the same AT&T network. Does anyone out there have any
suggestions as to what may be causing the sync problem between devices? I am
not sure if the devices ever have the same emails on the inbox. Does this make
sense? I will be happy to provide any other information if needed.
Thank you!

Hey daniel hkn,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like the email account may be configured and setup as a POP account. If so, check out this resource:
Using a POP account with more than one device - Apple Support
http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201855
When using the same POP email account on more than one device, email messages may appear only on the first device that receives them. This occurs when an email client is configured to automatically remove email from the server after an email client has received it. You can configure your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac either to keep a copy of the email on the server, remove it after a certain number of days have passed, or keep it until you move it from your inbox.
Thanks,
Matt M.

• Only some iMessages sync between Macbook Air and iPhone?

Not sure what the deal is. I've been iMessaging a friend of mine on my phone for a couple days and the phone messages are all still there, but only a few of the messages synced with my Macbook once I started using it to message her. I have a couple more convos that have been exclusively on my phone, the last message showing on the Macbook is three days old even though I've messaged them on my phone since then. I've tried logging in and out of iMessage on both devices, not sure what to do about it.

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.

• What can one do with Bluetooth between MacBook Pro and iPhone?

Hello,
I tried enabling Bluetooth on my MacBook Pro and iPhone, thinking I could file transfer some photographs. It seems not to work; after trying to "browse the device" it effectively 'times out' (as if it's a neverending 'loading' wait icon). I saw some other threads here, "I can't sync/connect my iPhone and iMac!" with various replies, like "you sync [Calendar agenda] via MobileMe, not via Bluetooth."
What does one do with Bluetooth? Can't I send files wirelessly from my phone to my laptop? If not, why not? If so, why is the connection wait interminable? I have enabled File Sharing and Bluetooth Sharing on my laptop, but see no direct means to do so in my phone's settings -- must this be done through iTunes? Do I need to configure something further before I can send files?
I have iPhone 3G Version 4.2.10 (last I checked -- still waiting to install an update) and Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.6.8).
Thanks for your time!

"I tried enabling Bluetooth on my MacBook Pro and iPhone, thinking I could file transfer some photographs."
This is not a feature of iphone. Never has been.
Other than tethering for internet, where provided by the carrier, you cannot connect to a computer/device/phone and do anything.
Bluetooth is for handsfree telephone devices/headsets, stereo speakers/headsets, some keyboards, some peer to peer apps from the app store and tethering where provided by the carrier.

• HT204053 I have set up i cloud but my calendars wont sync between MacBook, Ipad and iPhone. Is there a refresh style option or does anyone know what to do to make sure the calendar on my MacBook is the one that the other devices reads. Thanks everyone.

Don't spend a lot of time trying to change it. It's an iCloud problem that's happened before, and when it happened in August it went back to the correct colors in a few days. Just be careful when you add new items to the calendar to use the right calendar (even if the color is wrong), otherwise you'll have things out of synch when the correct colors come back.

• TS3274 not able to make Bluetooth connection between my Ipad and Iphone.

I am unable make Bluetooth connection between my Ipad3 and Iphone 4S.

You can't!
Alternativley you can use DropBox to send items over WiFi (free) or sync both with iTunes and drag & drop items in the Apps tab of each device.

• Accessing texts between mac air and iphone

K...probably pretty basic stuff..just not for me...we have been linked between our mac and iphone for texting so we could use either device simultaneously. Somehow, that option has shut off. the mac message bar has us listed as "away" and "offline" but it won't let us click on either to change it. The "enable" box is checked as "on" and we can send texts to our contacts from the computer but the "sent from" id is our email address and not our phone number (maybe a default thing since we are listed as offline). I can't figure out how to turn this option back on...any help? thanks

What is difference between macbk pro & Mac Air besides the weight? I M a dance teacher
Needs loads and loads of music, video & photos on it. Documents also
Not sure I understand flash storage... Is this where storage is all headed on laptops etc¿
A few notable differences:
MacBook Air
- Thiner and lighter than the MacBook Pro
- Does not have a CD/DVD drive, Ethernet port, FireWire or IR capabilities
- Has an SSD hard drive which means data access is much faster than traditional platter-based hard drives
- Has RAM soldered to the logic board which does not allow it to be upgraded in the future
- SSD drives offer much less storage than traditional hard drives by default, aftermarket/third upgrade upgrade options are available but very expensive
- Supports up to 8GB of RAM
MacBook Pro
- Bulkier/heavier than MacBook Air, Retina models close the weight gap but are more expensive
- The non-Retina models have far more peripheral port options, the Retina models (like the MacBook Air) lack things like Ethernet, FireWire, CD/DVD
- The Retina MacBook Pros have double Thunderbolt ports for increased expansion capabilities.
- The 15" MacBook Pro as well as both Retina models offer much higher screen resolution options
- The 15" MacBook Pro & 15" Retina MacBook Pro offer discrete GPUs instead of shared GPUs
- Supports up to 16GB of RAM
- Allows for user upgradeable RAM & HD, hard drives with much larger capacities. Can also accept 3rd party SSDs
Regarding your needs, is 256 GB of storage (which is a $300 "add on" by the way) adequate enough for your needs? Keep in mind that the 13" MacBook Pro for $1199 has 500 GB of storage, putting a 512 GB SSD in a MacBook Air is an extra $500 and is only available as an upgrade on the $1499 model.
If you do end up with a MacBook Air, I'd recommend getting the unit equipped with 8GB of RAM.
